Screaming on board; an issue?

Maybe his nerves were on edge from traveling and finally arriving on board. We have cruised 4 times and never heard screaming. just cast members clapping for the billionth time. Enjoy your cruise:flower3:

Can't say I've ever heard screaming of any kind. Is he referring to the cheering and clapping after you board? If he thinks that's screaming, he must have a very low tolerance for noise because it's pretty far from screaming or even loud noise IMO.

Honestly, I have been on 3 Disney cruises and never heard screaming. Now when they announce the families boarding, it can be a little loud but not screaming at all. The Cabana where you can go to get lunch after you board is noisy from all the kids (and adults) being excited. But I found our Carnival cruise (our first cruise ever) just as loud plus they play their music loud. Maybe your co-worker was just stressed out and got a headache, so that is all he remembers.

I'm feeling like this is an exaggeration but what do I know. Is this really an issue
Well, there's certainly a lot of joy when people board but this is really an exaggeration. Especially since nobody actually just hangs around the atrium once the get on board. You probably only spend a couple of minutes there and then its off to get something to eat either up on deck on in one of the main dining rooms.

Definitely no screaming...maybe he's confusing boarding with the sail-away deck party?? Although we stood at the upper deck rails looking out at the coast guard escorting us of the port and weren't really bothered at all by the "noise". You're going to have a great vacation on a DISNEY cruise ship, not a library, and as other posters mentioned, dining is louder than boarding :-)

Personally, I thought the boarding name announcements seemed a bit lackluster - a few CMs clapping and hardly anyone listening...

Yes, this is exactly how I felt. I expected more clapping and cheering as you board and they announce your name based on what I had heard from others. Either it's not as grand as described or I'm just so unimportant that only a few felt the need to clap as I stepped on board. Not loud at all.

Could only possibly imagine this scenario if you happen to board right behind a group of 30 including a high percentage of young tween aged girls, all wearing matching "My First Disney Cruise" t-shirts. Iff (if and only if) you happen to board right behind them, their cheering would be louder than the announcer's microphone, therefore you will not be able to hear your own name announced, and would potentially be subject to a minor headache...

I have a first time cruise scheduled three months out and had a coworker that has been on a Disney cruise tell me that when you first board, clear out of the lobby area quickly because there is a lot of screaming from excited people boarding when they are announced. He said it was so bad on his that he had a headache the rest of the day. I'm feeling like this is an exaggeration but what do I know. Is this really an issue?

Personally I would think the screaming would be more of an issue at the end of the cruise when people get their bar bill.
Would you be able to tell us more about his Disney comments?
I would enjoy a few more chances for a legitimate a chance to shake my head with a spontaneous eye roll.
What is it like to work with him? You must have stories.

I have never experienced this and I am extremely sensitive to noise. I once accidentally visited the Magic Kingdom at the same time as some Pop Warner cheerleaders. Shudder.

Sometimes the deck parties get a bit much so you know what I do, I walk somewhere else on the ship. I certainly wouldn't hang around until I had a headache that lasted the rest of the day. I can't imagine either the screaming happening or even if it did, why someone would hang out in the atrium long enough to get a headache.

Oh I have a good one that I knew was so preposterous that I didn't bother posting it. He tried to tell me the adult pool area has a clothing optional deck. I mean really, could you imagine that in anything Disney?

:rotfl2::rotfl2::laughing::laughing:

If he was being serious, I bet he assumed the Concierge sun deck is a clothing optional deck.

If anyone hears screaming, it is on the last day of the cruise, when they are forcing me off the ship. I am holding on tight to the staircase banister with no less than 4 cast members are trying to pull me off, as I am screaming " I WON'T GO, I TELL YOU!!!! NNNNOOOOOOOOO, DON'T MAKE ME LEAVE!!! PUH-LEEZE!!!!"

That screaming?
Yeah, I've lost more fingernails than I can count going through that process on the last morning.

I had to dig this one up for an anecdotal story to add. Upon our entry we did not hear any screaming nor at later times passing through the atrium did we hear any screaming. However, a coworker recently got back from a Carnival Bahamian cruise and was commenting that every night at some bar on deck there was constant screaming/shrieking coming from the drunken patrons that could be heard all over the deck area it was in. Reminded me of this thread.
