Sarah & Chris - Swan - 09-01-13 - Update

There isn't much to update, but seeing as how WE ARE GETTING MARRIED THIS YEAR, I thought I would update.

The shoes are DONE! They took along time, and money, but I am so glad I did them. I am a sparkly girl and the fact that I have a excuse to wear purple sparkly shoes for an entire day is all I needed.

All of the STDs are out and received. I am thinking that I am going to send out an e-vite at the end of the month as a pre-RSVP. We have already heard from some people about trying to come and I just want an idea of everyone. We invited 75 people, and hoping no more than 50 come :) I am not that close to all of my aunts and uncles but I had to invite them. You know how it is.

I have put in my request for my flowers and waiting for the invoice, so they can get started on those.

My biggest thing right now, is HOW am I going to decorate Crescent Terrace. I am not having a florist. My flowers are natural touch and they will be shipped from Canada. I am not sure what I want to do, I have ideas, but it comes down to how and I going to get the actual space decorated.

It seems like things are going to start happening and FAST now that we are 8 months away. Here...we....GOOOOO!

Happy wedding year!!! :rotfl: So glad you finished your shoes! How fancy are you to have one of a kind sparkly wedding shoes?! So cool.

For the decorating stuff I would just scour Pinterest (although I'm sure you are already). There have got to be millions of ideas on there on how to decorate without floral. I bet you will find something fantastic! I'll keep you in mind in case I see anything. I'm totally addicted to Pinterest...

I agree that time will really start to fly now that we are in the BIG YEAR! It's exciting but it makes me nervous! I only have a little bit more than a month longer than you so "here we go" is right, for sure!

Decorations for crescent terrace - I'm doing Mickey head tissue paper pomanders on the ceremony arch and then probably just round tissue paper pomanders for the chairs (just the ones on the aisle). I ordered the aisle runner from just marry, so I might do some sort of aisle petals -
and probably some ribbons, bows or draping on the arch as well.
Something cheap, easy and that I can do most of myself. I have some friends that have agreed to decorate everything ahead of time.

What would be really pretty are some paper cones with petals or ribbon in them on the aisle chairs.

Happy wedding year to you too! I do look at pinterest, daily lol. I have ideas of what I want, it is just a matter of how do I get it accomplished. I can't really be there decorating in my wedding dress, or can I ?:rotfl:

Those are great ideas. Can I ask you how much the arch is costing and what one you are getting? I keep going back and forth about the arch. For me if I get it, I want it to be covered and I want a square one. I am being super picky. I really wanted to hang things from the trees, like draping and such. Or maybe a bunch of the paper lanterns hanging from above the platform...but how to get them all put up. I think I am over thinking this.

Erin quoted $100 for the arch.
I'm not 100% sure what it looks like - I think there is a picture of it in some of the pdfs she sent - but I'm hoping to get a look at it when I make a trip down there.
I need to be able to see stuff to figure out how I want it.

The problem with do it yourself decor is having someone dependable to put it up for you - there's no way you'll be able to do it yourself and Erin said I'd need to have someone there to do it.
I keep worrying that my friends are going to flake out on me (they're also doing my hair and makeup!), so I keep coming up with contingency plans.

Here are some things I am thinking.
I am kinda of obsessed with this arch

I know this isn't possible, but I love the little lanterns and the lights everywhere

Another idea would be to have paper lanterns covering the "ceiling" of Crescent Terrace.

I have also been contemplating the use of Fairy Berries. They are little balls that twinkle on and off and are batter operated. I thought I could string them and hang them and make kind of a "back drop".

Those are gorgeous!
Maybe send the pics to Erin and see if she has any ideas of how you could do it?

We have worked on some of the decor issues. In my head I think I can accomplish things, and I am a DIY girl. But when it comes to the day of, I needed to realize that I will not be able to put up my own decor. I know that should be obvious, but it has been something I need to remind myself of. I have even had visions of me, in my dress, putting up lights.

Anyway, in order to get somewhat of what I want, we have decided to rent an arch.

This is the actual arch that we are renting and we are getting quotes for floral to go in the corners somewhat like in the picture. I am also wanting to hang crystals from the back. I am really excited about the arch and I am finally getting a clear image in my head.

I can't believe we are less than 7 months away, it felt like this time would never get here, and now it is going by so quickly.

Sample invite is done!

We are huge Friends fans. It is pretty much why we got together. We met online and started all of our emails back and forth with titles of Friends episodes. If you don't know, all of the episode titles start with "The One..." So this is The One Where Chris and Sarah Get Married!!

I haven't gotten up the guts to print them yet, but I hope they will be all completed this weekend. I know I am sending them out early, but it is getting to the point where we need to get some solid numbers so we can continue with plans. The hope is that we get them sent out at the end of this month, with the RSVP date being mid-May.

Well, it has been almost 5 months since the day, and I thought I should probably wrap this up a bit.

The day was great, but far from perfect. We checked into the Swan hospitality suite around 9am. We got up there and they had a wonderful spread of coffee, tea, fruit and champagne waiting for us!

Our hair and makeup girls showed up right on time. We booked Mandi Neuhardt. She works for beaute, but we booked her on our own. She was fabulous! So sweet, fast and I loved what she did!

We had booked Jason Angelini for photography. But, his wife went into labor that morning. I got a call around 1 pm telling me she hadn't had the baby yet, so he was sending a replacement. Her name was Jennifer Martin. She is so sweet and I am happy with the photos overall. There are some things that I didn't get pictures of, but it is hard to blame her, since she was kinda thrown into the situation at the last minute. We had never had any contact before her showing up that day.

We got ready and did our first look, which was so nice. We found a place at the YC that was fairly quiet.

We then headed to the boardwalk for more pics.

Then we went back to the suite to relax and cool off (it was hot). In that time, I was told the very sad news that I had to move indoors. I was given the option to stay outside, but we had the arch. If they set up the arch and it started to rain, there would not be enough time to take it down and put it up inside. So I just moved indoors.

It was nice, but I would be lying if I said I am not disappointed still. After the ceremony, we were able to go outdoors and have the sparkler send off.

Our transportation was there on time. They were a little pushy about leaving and almost left without me, but my MOH got them to wait.

The dessert party was also moved indoors because of the storms. I think it really worked out for the best. It was so pretty in there. The lights were dimmed, they had little twinkle lights on the trees in the room. We got there early but they were ready for us and allowed us to start the party about 30 min early. The rain had stopped in time for the fireworks, so we were escorted out to the marina. There were people in the marina when we walked up. I informed the security guard that they were not with us, and he got them all to move.

There were tables and chairs for everyone. They had also allowed everyone to take out drinks from our bar to the dessert party. Right after the fireworks, we walked back to the front, where our bus was waiting to take everyone back to the Swan.

The rain was a damper on my day, but overall everything turned out well.

Hi there and thank you! We got the save the dates here http://www.beau-coup.com/suitcase-favor-tins.htm. I then got magnet strips and added them to the back. They were pricy, but everyone loved them. I also put in our info card and a mickey key chain.

We did have a musician, her name is Christine Macphaill (I think that is how it is spelled) She plays the harp and it was beautiful! She knows a ton of songs and if you have a special request she can learn it. We had everything from movie soundtracks, Disney and current pop songs. I loved her!
