PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

And is that a chocolate fondant that I see? OMG! I've died and gone to Vegas :rotfl:.

There was no fondant involved in the cake but it had an insane molten center. I tried to convey that in the second photo. It was amazing. We will definitely going back to Del Friscos in Vegas or other locations. I'm hoping to travel back to Texas visit the Ft. Worth location again. As much as people put down Texas, I really enjoy traveling there because there is a lot of food related locations and other fun stuff that you wouldn't expect to be found.

The Fremont Street Experience is a covered promenade which covers several blocks of what used to be Fremont Street that used to be a driving thorofare. There are a number of casinos that open up to Fremont Street and there are street shops, bars and other attractions including impersonators who hang out on the street. The covered promenade features a video screen on the ceiling with "shows" every hour starting at 6PM and other video entertainment during the offtimes. There are flashing lights going all the time "Vegas Style". It's not something easily explained unless you have been to Vegas. Once you've been there you sort of understand, but until you've actually been to Vegas it's hard to explain.

I haven't been to Fremont Street in years...but it sounds like the only thing new is the zipline!

QB - That show at Fremont Street is a laser light show set to Vegas music and it is fantastic. The screen is the covered dome roof that goes for pretty much the entire 3 or 4 blocks of Fremont.

I have just gone on YouTube to watch a video of it. Looks pretty cool, and BIG. It must be even better to see it in person, Alison did you enjoy the experience?

It's pretty much old school rock n roll, each hour they have a different group. The show I saw was George Thorogood, "Bad to the Bone" and "Who do you Love". Evidently it is a 15 minute show, so I must have missed a few of the first few minutes. It was cool, but perhaps would have been better if it were warmer and we caught it spontaneously as opposed to me leaving the table to see the show while Fran sat there playing cards.

It is definitely big. The FSE covers about 3-4 blocks that traffic passes through. It is the one thing that draws people downtown as opposed to hanging out on the strip, which while they have great casinos, I don't understand the draw other than dinner because the slots are tight and table minimums are high. Unless you are just there to be a tourist there is no reason to hang out on the strip. Otherwise the off strip casinos where the locals go are the way to stay.

That looks so so so so good :goodvibes I am getting so hungry looking at it. I haven't had cake in so long :sad1:, I want one right now .

The zip line thing, how long is it? I am not sure what the Fremont Street Experience is, forgive my ignorance :confused3.

I love chocolate molten cake. I only eat it while we are on a cruise ship.

We're doing the same thing we have done for probably the last 11 or more years! I don't remember how long, but it's a pretty special place to go. :goodvibes ;)

There are all kinds of GREAT places to go there! It can be fun and it need not involve any of the things that gave Vegas a bad rap many years ago! just don't think of "The Hangover" as a guide to your trip! :rotfl:

So finally the day arrived that we had to face facts that we were going home. It always takes us a while to pack it up since we bring so much stuff with us. But three suitcases, a cooler and about eight little bags later we were ready to call the Bellman and have them hold our stuff for a few hours.

See Fran counted the money we had left. We came with $X to lose on gambling. She informed me that we had $X+10%! Not that we only came with cash to lose we probably had another 25% more that we had planned for Valet tips, Bellman and anything else we couldn’t put on our credit cards. But since we had so much of the money intended for losing left, we decided to hit the tables yet again, and this time we would bet frivolously since we had all that “extra money”. :lmao: Besides we certainly weren’t hungry after everything we ate last night!

However, after a couple hours we were now down $X – 25% and decided that lunch was probably a good idea. Our plan was to go to the Wynn on our way out of town and see the place and we debated whether to eat at the Sam’s town buffet or the Wynn. We were pretty hungry and decided on Sam’s Town. Good thing too as the Wynn was celebrating Chinese New Year full force and their buffet was running $50pp!

So we were seated at our $7 buffet and I immediately began documenting. First I looked at the Asian Section.

[Continued in next post]

I always start off my lunch and dinner buffets with the salad bar. It makes me think that I’m getting my veggies in and eating healthy even though I drown it in Blue Cheese Dressing! Or in this case Thousand Island!

DSCN0218.jpg

Then I moved on to the Asian section. They had trays full of vegetables that you put in a bowl drizzled with sauce and handed it to the guy behind the counter. He asked you what type of meat you wanted and then stir fryed it up for you Mongolian BBQ style.

DSCN0219.jpg

Then I went for the fried chicken. This was a plate that Fran and I split, there was no way I could eat two pieces of chicken after everything I’d already eaten, in fact I couldn’t even finish my piece!

DSCN0220.jpg

However, I was not going to miss dessert!

DSCN0221.jpg

DSCN0223.jpg

They even had a guy hand-scooping real ice cream!

DSCN0224.jpg

That’s what I got!

DSCN0225.jpg

So we finally packed up the car and headed over to the strip. We will NEVER play any table games at the Wynn! Most of the places that I saw had minimums of $100 & $200. Fran said she saw a $15 table, but I was skeptical. They had the place all decorated up, and some very artistic plants.

Eventually we decided that we better hit the road or it would be midnight before we got home. So off we drove into the sunset.

Now with all this talk of getting hungry, I am too! We have dinner reservation in about 4 1/2 hours so I better eat soon!

I did not see any 8 dollar chips, but Sam's town was the only place we played and they weren't really celebrating the New Year, just the big casinos on the strip that attract an Asian clientele. Sam's Town speaks to the Truckers and Midwesterners!

Actually my next trip is to DC! Funny thing is I have a better handle on both my WDW trips than the one to DC!

I don't understand exactly how it works for them but similar to our US phone plans they are allowed a certain amount of data xfer. With her TR and picture uploads she has exceeded her bandwidth.
