PTR-Cheating on Mickey w/Harry!...OMG! Only a month to go!

So it’s been 38 hours since we decided to go to WDW for Destination-D. Here’s what we have done.

Book hotel rooms, all but the first night, check
Book plane flight, check
Plan Dining and book reservations, check!

So far it’s only cost us $21 in American Express transfer fees (to move our Amex Miles to Delta) and the $5 per person airport fees. However, we are now completely out of Delta points and AMEX points. :sad2: But we’re two thirds of the way to another pair of American Airlines tickets and I think we’re covered for trips for a while. :lmao:

You'll be there for my Birthday....make sure you have an extra cake and brownie for me.

That's when I was there last year...:sad1:

Yay :yay: and congrats on going back to the world. What a whirl wind of planning, how did you get so much done so fast?

Looks like you are going to have a great time.

Dang you whipped out your itinerary like nobody's business! :rotfl: Probably cuz you're a pro! ;)

Question: This is so embarrassing, and I should probably already know this, but what is Destination-D? Is it kind of like D-23, but only at WDW? And what's the difference between D & S??

A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do. The internet helps! :thumbsup2

EXTRA cake and brownie! Yikes!

Actually Destination-S was a typo! :rotfl2: Destination-D is like a Disney Seminar. Two intense filled days of speakers and presentations by imagineers and other Disney mucky mucks. The one on DLR was a little bit more jam packed, this one seems a little more relaxed, not quite as many topics (2 per session instead of 3), but it will be fun to hear all the behind the scenes stories from all these people. This is the schedule...

I'm just thankful there's not a test afterwards! I've already forgotten so much of what they told us at the DLR version! :rotfl2:

Wow, your May trip sounds awesome!!! And, please have some schnitzel at Biergarten for me! ;)

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it! I'll even have some tonight, evidently we're going out to the local German restaurant for dinner. :cool1:

And you say that you would have trouble keeping up with me at Disney???

Look at that schedule! I THINK NOT! :rotfl2:

Yeah, but what's not included in there is that I'll be taking a power nap on every break! :rotfl:

PS Thanks for posting the pics!

Okay alot of trips, are you finished with LV ? Please dont be like you know who.:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

No...I will finish the Vegas part. Our home internet went out on Wednesday. I was using the travel air card to access online, but it threw me off since I coudn't get to my email in the way I'm used to! Plus with throwing in this new trip, and having real life to deal with, Swing Band rehearsal Thursday and needing to find a drummer and bass player for the rehearsal, then waiting for the various repair people yesterday...yadda, yadda, yadda.... I hope to put up the final chapter this weekend. Not to go on and on, but Wednesday when my "helper" was here, the dryer in the building went out. Granted it was probably 15-20 years old, but we have to go buy a new one today. The cleaning lady is here now and I'll have to work with her in a few minutes when she finishes mopping the floor, but hopefully tomorrow!

OK I’ve got most everything under control for the upcoming WDW trip, so let’s finish off the trip to Vegas. When we left our hero and heroine, they had conquered an extremely heavy German lunch and headed back to the hotel room for a good solid nap. If I remember correctly, I even used my CPAP machine (that I only started using last December) so that I would actually experience REM sleep and get some rest. I slept at least an hour if not more and woke up to freshen up. We had blown off the Fremont Street experience the previous night so I was determined to get there Thursday night.

We were trying to get to the Experience for a 6PM show, but as we drove by looking for a parking spot I saw the show going on. We ended up on the Experience floor around 6:30PM.

Usnoozulooz asked me about the zip line and I thought she was kidding especially since it was on the Old Fogies thread! But there WAS a freakin zipline and here is someone actually riding it!

Fran was freezing and couldn’t stay outside so we worked out a compromise. She would go inside and play blackjack while I went outside. Hmmmm are we seeing some sort of pattern? We found a table, and there were like a TON of smokers at this table. I played a few hands and then the show was about to come on so I went outside and caught like a 5 minute show, and came back to play a few more hands before I was able to pry Fran from the table.

So we were able to escape the Fremont St. Experience and get over to Del Friscos Steak House. We had been to the Ft. Worth Location and it was the best steak I’d ever had. This location was seriously not far behind if not neck in neck.

I started off with a Gibson made with Belvedere

Darlin had a margarita

DSCN0188.jpg

I started off with a half a dozen oysters

Fran got the soup, which was called Turtle Soup, which was a Gumbo Kind of thing.

DSCN0190.jpg

We got a couple side dishes with our entrée

And our entrée, Wagyu beef Prime Rib Eye

That looks so so so so good :goodvibes I am getting so hungry looking at it. I haven't had cake in so long :sad1:, I want one right now .

The zip line thing, how long is it? I am not sure what the Fremont Street Experience is, forgive my ignorance :confused3.

The Fremont Street Experience is a covered promenade which covers several blocks of what used to be Fremont Street that used to be a driving thorofare. There are a number of casinos that open up to Fremont Street and there are street shops, bars and other attractions including impersonators who hang out on the street. The covered promenade features a video screen on the ceiling with "shows" every hour starting at 6PM and other video entertainment during the offtimes. There are flashing lights going all the time "Vegas Style". It's not something easily explained unless you have been to Vegas. Once you've been there you sort of understand, but until you've actually been to Vegas it's hard to explain.

i got one more update and then it's back to planning and I have lots of that coming up!

I haven't been to Fremont Street in years...but it sounds like the only thing new is the zipline!

And is that a chocolate fondant that I see? OMG! I've died and gone to Vegas :rotfl:.

QB - That show at Fremont Street is a laser light show set to Vegas music and it is fantastic. The screen is the covered dome roof that goes for pretty much the entire 3 or 4 blocks of Fremont.
