Good luck to your team. I was wondering if you've gone before and could tell us a little about the schedule for the Pop Warner kids. There has been a lot of threads about how the kids wouldn't impact the crowds in the parks during the days, but some posts suggested by evening they would be out in force. How many kids/chaperones are we talking about...hundreds, thousands?
Also read that there is one night that Hollywood Studios is closed to guests for a Pop Warner event. Do you know what date yet...and hours it's closed to us?
Thanks!! If we win 2 more competitions, then it is on to Disney. This would be my first year going so I can't answer your questions specifically.
I do know that the competitions are held during the day, & each day there is a different divsion competing.
Monday is Jr. Pee Wee, Tuesday is Pee Wee, Wed. is Jr. Midget, THurs is all dance, Friday is Midgets.
On any given day there is about 65 teams competing & an average of 20 kids per team, which means that is an average of about 1300 kids per day competing, which means about 6500 kids in total for the week, not including their families that cheer them on.
As I said they are tied up during the day but at night I think it is fair to say that if they are not competing the following day, they will be in the parks.
I do know that I have had to tell my parents that (I am a Jr. Pee Wee coach--my kids are 8, 9, & 10) that if we go every child will need a parent, so there is adult supervision. To be honest, since a national title is at stake, I do not even want my kids going to the parks until after we compete, too much is at stake.
We are very disciplined & I would never let my kids run free as stated before, there is too much at stake. We have been practicing 3-4 days a week since Aug. 4th & then games on Sundays, too much to throw away just because we are at Disney!!!
Do you know what the dates for 2009 are yet? I would be curious since we are planning a December 2009 trip.
Sorry I do not know the dates yet.
