Pinkcow's DCL Wedding 12/8/09..... 1 Year Later!

I can not wait to hear about your cruise! Our 3 day in November was awesome. We are going back in August! I have been on RCCL and Carnival and Disney was 100% better everytime I have cruised with them. I am glad your wedding was as perfect as mine!

You and your DH are sooo cute! I love the pics. Bummer about the rain that day, but any day in the MK is great. It's even better when it is free.

The santa mickey hat is such a good idea. Why didn't I think of that. I forced DH to wear the groom ears everywhere. We got loads of attention and little treats, which I loved, but I don't think he was too keen on it. :rotfl:

I agree, any day in MK is great! We tried to make the most of it! The Mickey Santa hats were a last-minute addition (they were on sale w/free personalization) the week before we left. This was a good call!

Ok, I gotta ask! Were you at Raglan Road last Sunday? I walked in to use the restroom, and was like that looks like Lisa! But no, it couldn't be! When I came out I didn't see anyone.. Mysterious Goldeelox sighting? :rotfl:

Yeah for starting your TR! Can't wait to see more!

I saw your pics, and they look incredible!! Can't wait to read your TR! :goodvibes

Hi DisneyFreak! I'm getting married on Castaway Nov 2010. We are on the Oct 30-Nov 6 cruise. When is your cruise?

Day 3 started with a trip to Downtown Disney! We wanted to do something where a roof would cover us in case of an accidental downpour! Well, it seemed everyone else had this idea too! It felt like Black Friday all over again!

Here's DH and I acting like little kids!

After reading all of the fabulous reviews we decided to try Earl of Sandwich. We did not expect a 45 min wait! For a sandwich! :rotfl2: I will say it was exceptionally good, but certainly not something you want to get on your way to the airport!

After lunch we went back to our room at Coronado, and since it was finally not raining we walked about the grounds. It's a very nice resort.

Afterwards, I got ready to go to the Grand Floridian for tea with the ladies! We made big hats and sundresses mandatory! I met my Mom, Sister, and Aunt. DH's Aunt and Sister-In-Law were also supposed to come, but their plane was delayed, and after that one of their suitcases exploded all over the baggage claim! :scared1:

Here's me and my sis-

001.jpg

I'm not a huge fan of tea in general, but really had fun. It was great to get all gussied up, and try to act like "proper ladies". The cider was a delicious tea alternative! They were also very accommodating to my Mom's Gluten allergy.

After tea we walked around GF taking in the slights and sounds. We also caught up as it had been some time since we had seen each other. We wished each other farewell, and I headed over to All-Stars Music to meet up with DH's Aunt, Uncle and Cousin.

After making a detour outside of the gates, we had dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings, also in the Crossroads shopping plaza. DH's cousin thought it would be a good idea to try some variation of "Extreme, Don't Try this at Home, Hot.” He was like ahh, no problem! Well this grown man was in the fetal position rocking back and forth and crying after four wings! :rotfl2: We all had a good chuckle!

Ohh how was your trip? I knew about the parade taping from back when I was a CM. At that time they were looking for CM's to fill in as extras, but I wasn't able to participate as I was about to start a new job in S. FL. This year I had seen posts about it on the Theme Parks Board as well as Podcast Board. I believe they had posted where you could sign up in either early November/late October. They then notified those selected for tickets near Thanksgiving. This year the available slots to sign up were gone in a matter of hours. I wasn't able to get in originally, but was really persistent in trying. I was lucky enough to get tickets through a link that another DIS'er posted about a week or so prior to the event. You can't beat free ever! You get free parking too! My master plan was to try to get tickets for our family so they could get in, but was only able to do so for ourselves. I wish you the best of luck for next year!!

We got off to a later start than we would have liked. We didn't leave Coronado until about 9:30, which got us into my Dad's house near PC around 10:30. My Dad's became the central gathering place for family members. It was the first time most of us had seen each other in quite some time. By the time we were all rounded up and ready to head out the door it was close to 12:30.

We all packed into the "Redneck Limousine" aka my Dad's dualie truck. We joked the entire way about going to a wedding in a pickup! Here's an awesome pic of the "limo" and my derriere! :rotfl:

Warning! Warning!

Go no further if you get embarrassed easily, are drinking hot coffee, or are under the age of 18!

The Incident

Months before the wedding I had sent welcome bags to my sis who lives in FL. She assembled them and brought them to my Dad's house. Now, I did not create one for myself, 'cause why do I need one? Well my sister felt that we needed one anyways and neatly wrapped lots of little goodies for us. We put all of the welcome bags in a carry-on that I had with me.

When we get to the port, DH and I went ahead of everyone else so we could get started on the wedding details. We get to TSA, and I put through the dress, fine. I put through the carry on, and here's the conversation below;

TSA Lady, "Are those real??"

Me, "Come again.... ??"

TSA Lady, Pointing to the screen, "Are those real?!"

Me, "Are what real?.."

TSA Lady, "Ma'am were you aware that someone has placed handcuffs in your bag?"

Me, "Um... Umm.... No I was not..."

TSA Lady on the walkie-talkie "I'm going to need Tom, Dick, Harry, Bob and Steve"

At this point (in my best Oprah voice) I started screaming "Sissssssssttteeeeerrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Within moments Port Canaveral's A-Team was on the scene. They asked to isolate the item. We pulled out our welcome bag, the A-Team ran it through the X-ray machine, and were like "Yup, that's it!"

My sister was clearly seen in line beyond the glass doors. I start pointing and jumping up and down "Girl in the green shirt!!!!" :hyper: "Girl in the green shirt!!!"

A-Team, "Well, we're going to need her to identify the package."

So we wait, and wait while what seems like thousands of people go through security. The whole time I'm giving her the evil eye, and the "I'm looking at you" point! She was completely oblivious to anything that was going on!

So finally she gets through the metal detector and the A-Team asks her to "Step Aside, Ma'am". He face drops like "what did I do???" :confused3 Then they escort her over to where DH and I are standing. She sees me with the open suitcase and suddenly her face turns 12 varying shades of red!! :rotfl2:

She starts laughing so hard she cries! Everyone around us was busting a gut! My Stepmother was on the floor rolling! :rotfl2:

My sister unwraps the suspected package, and the handcuffs were deemed "Not a threat" by the A-Team. We were sent on our merry way!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Check in was a breeze! The only line we encountered was having pictures taken on the way into the ship. We go up to deck 10 and have a celebratory drink, and laugh!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

that's hilarious!! I'm glad that the security team had a good sense of humor about it and didn't go all crazy on you for it....but man....i think i'd have killed my sister after that!! :rotfl:

That is HIGHlarious! :lmao:
But really, what exactly IS the security threat of a pair of handcuffs? Security checks are so ridiculous!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
OMG!!:rotfl: That was so funny! But if that was me I would have been seriously stressed as I hate all the security checks. I would have needed a major drink after all that!!:rotfl:

that is just wayyyy to funny!! it honestly sounds like something i would have done to my sister! hahah:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oh I was so primed to get my sister back!! But her son conveniently did it for me later that night... We were at Animators Palate (he's almost 3) and sees a picture of Ursula from The Little Mermaid on the wall. He points to it and goes "Look! It's Mommy!" :rotfl2:

No one let it go during the trip, like Oh, handcuffs would go great with that outfit! :rotfl:

That is HIGHlarious! :lmao:

Our handcuffs had no locking mechanism. TSA was telling us if anything could potentially be used to restrain someone they are a no-go.

OMG I just laughed sooo hard!

Just wait until we get to the photo scavenger hunt! Holy cow!! :rotfl2:

I've never had a problem at all, with this exception! I would say unless you have a particularly devious sister, you should have no problems!!!

that is just wayyyy to funny!! it honestly sounds like something i would have done to my sister! hahah:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yeah, this is probably pay-back for a lot of the stuff I pulled as a kid! Like dying her hair pink in her sleep.... :rotfl2:

After having our celebratory drink we hung all of the welcome bags throughout the ship. We planned on meeting everyone in the Promenade Lounge at 2:00. This was a big giant bust! :lmao: I believe most of our family was either just getting on, trying to get settled in, or at the buffet. DH had gone to meet up with his Dad and Cousin, I was with my Dad and Stepmom trying to find the health clinic to pick up some sea-sick pills. Before we knew it, it was 3:00 and time to meet Imran!

We were actually a few minutes early, and as we were waiting my Mom, Sis, Stepdad, Grandmother, and Uncle all just happened to be walking by.

Here we are waiting-

Meeting Imran-

Imran invited the whole crowd to come up with us to the Walt Disney Theater.

We met the justice, and she gave me a silk bouquet. It was time to get this show on the road!

Sealed with a kiss!

The actual legal ceremony did not take long at all. It was more of a "Do you take this man..." There was no ring exchange, and I can't remember too much more to the ceremony. Afterwards we signed the paperwork. We also needed two witnesses, so we chose my Sis and Stepdad.

Immediately following the cermony we met Imran in The Cadillac Lounge to go over our planning kit. I was ready for a show-down after what we had been through in the planning process. I had my binder with every possible piece of paper related to our DFTW. But this wasn't so much necessary. We made our concerns known, and Imran really did his absolute best to try and resolve things. One of our main concerns was photography. The last thing I wanted was to see lots of strange people in inner tubes pop up in the background of the ceremony photos. We had a long conversation about this. I even showed him what I did and did not like and gave him a contact sheet of shots I wanted to get. Imran assured us he would do everything he could.

In the end, I was really happy with the photography. Imran did come through for us in explaining exactly what we wanted.

Somewhere down here was my brother-in-law waving back to us-
IMG_9465.jpg

We went to The Golden Mickeys, which was great. We had the late seating for dinner, and by the time we got there DH and I were starved! We hadn't had the chance to eat all day!

Since there was 22 of us, they put 3 tables together in a row with a fourth creating the shape of a capital T. This was the basic setup in all the restaurants.

My nephew was ready to dig in!

A great shot of my new bro-in-law-

Our server was Tumielo, and he was great! He was teaching the kids magic tricks, was very personable, and on his game.

At some point in the evening Tumielo felt that my head gear was not good enough, so he gave me this-

Up Next: Atlantis!!

Imran really was great. glad your pictures were just how you wanted them!

OMG it's time for us to go to Aquaventure at Atlantis!!!!

Now, I had done my research ahead of time, the Disney excursion to Aquaventure is $160 per adult. Kinda pricy! Tickets at Aquaventure itself run about $110 per adult, but are not guaranteed based on hotel occupancy. Thanks to some awesome DIS'ers we found out that with a AAA discount at the Comfort Suites Nassau this could get us a room and 4 tickets for about $200. In the end we actually got a room at Atlantis for 5 tickets and a bit more moolah.

We started off the morning late, and by the time we were all rounded up and had a plan of attack, we didn't get off the boat until noon. We choose to take the water taxi from the port to Atlantis for $3 a head each way. We found out this is not the way to go if you are in a hurry! We waited on the ferry for a good 45 min. before it finally left the dock. I suppose it was waiting for more passengers. The ferry view was gorgeous! There was even a tour guide on board to point out all of the famous people's homes. But be aware the tour guides will ask for a tip.

Here's some images from around the port and on the ferry-
