PHM15: A Frozen Cupcake Celebration & Carnage as No Cupcake is Left Behind

I love reading this so far! We were at our resort headed to DTD by the time you were in MK. I so wanted to come meet up with y'all but I knew we would stay out too late if I did. I'm glad y'all finally found a yummy cupcake and some adult beverages to enjoy! I never did get my slush in France. :(

I would have loved to have met up with you too that afternoon! I am just thankful for the time that we did spend together...especially the Frozen time! Can you believe I did not even get a Dole Whip either...what is up with that! Next trip, right...speaking of which you need a ticker!

Yes Cocktail Fridays! Best suggestion EVER Debra! We just have to remember to schedule more time after Wine and Dine than before it.. so we can drink without regrets. (maybe?). :)

Those Lapu pics are some of my faves Tammie! Can't wait till they show up on a TR! Well those pics combined with your eyeball pics.. those are all my faves! Hahahahaha!

Right. Because if we can't ACTUALLY drink without getting ill (speaking for myself here) then at least I can pretend I'm gonna have all these yummy drinks! *sigh* It's just not fair!

SHE WARNED US, YOU CAN’T TAKE HER ANYWHERE
After staring at the castle for who knows how long and making a plan of attack for MK, we were off and in about 100 yards I froze in my tracks in complete panic. I started feeling around in my pockets and suddenly realized that Debra and Kafi had taken off and were now missing. Instantly my gut became tied in knots as we started back tracking to the place we last saw them. On our way we found Debra who let us know that she was not finished inspecting the hub construction and that was the reason she was where she was. Kafi was a different story entirely…we retraced our steps 4-5 times and she was nowhere to be found…I even resorted to trash can diving, with no luck. I was completely sick to my stomach when we finally abandoned the search. My mind then began working on how we could get a “new” Kafi because this trip would not be the same without her. I think I called AKL looking for a business center to print a new Kafi from, but did not have any luck. I called Betsy to see if she had any ideas…I was so shamed that I lost Kafi that I became silent in our FB group and stopped posting our where a bouts for everyone to follow along till they got there. Cammy and I wondered around MK as I tried to figure out what to do. We headed to Adventureland, but I was so heartbroken that we did not even stop for the Dole Whip we had planned! A trip to see my 2nd favorite pirate should do the trick, right?

069.JPG jack-sparrow-depp.jpg
WRONG, apparently Jack was having a wee bit of a problem with his boats and had to close (which seemed to be for the entire trip…we even heard a rumor that Thursday night POTC CMs and do wade into the waters and push the boats back to the loading area). We just kept moving, next to Frontierland where you could not pay us to get wet and the line for BTMRR was too long.

070.JPG
We did manage to sneak in a ride with some hijacking ghosts, (you can see that we are willing to stand in line for a ghost)...

072.JPG
But I still did not have a solution for my Kafi problem and it was really putting a grey cloud on the late afternoon. Of course there was a stop at the prettiest bathrooms in all of the Kingdom and a hunt for Pascal.

sugb.jpg rapunzel-restrooms-hidden-pascal.jpg
We noticed that the standby line for Peter Pan was relatively short that since Cammy had never been to Neverland that we would sail away with the hopes of seeing my favorite pirate…

killian.jpg peter-pan.jpg

After so much walking we decided that we wanted to sit for a while and headed to Philharmagic, one of my favorite attractions maybe a quick sing along with help my spirits. While I totally love this attraction, I am not fond of how they just open the doors and people storm the auditorium. Usually I try to hang back and let people stomp each other, but this time I was preoccupied with my Kafi troubles that we ended up right in the middle of the running the bulls and practically trampled to death by a group of cheerleaders holding arms and pulling each other from behind us to in front of us. Then as luck would have it they decided to sit down right in the middle of the row and we had to climb over them to sit down…MOVE TO THE END OF THE ROW PEOPLE!

074.JPG
This would not be our last encounter with these girls tonight sadly. Needless to say I was still distracted with my problem of missing Kafi and missed most of the show. When the show was over it was time for our evening ADR hoping that this black cloud hanging over me would go away...

You know Susan tax season is not in November you could go to great lengths with us for cupcakes and cocktails.
I will very likely be there. We are planning to do 2016 W&D as half of our Coast to Coast Challenge. That is, if we can get registered before it sells out. Have they officially announced 2016 W&D? I heard rumors it may be canceled.

Maybe BOG Can Save this BEASTLY Mood
Cammy’s top 2 favorite Disney Princesses are Ariel and Belle. And after Debra could not be on this trip in person, I sat out to rearrange a few ADRs. After months of post-midnight searches I scored an ADR for BOG for dinner as a surprise. Of course, I can’t keep surprises so I told her about a month before hand about dinner with the Beast. We both had enjoyed BOG for lunch and were looking forward to dinner in the Beast’s Castle. Night was being to fall as we made our way to the podium and were handed our pager to walk down to the entrance.

1 (1).JPG
The mood was not much better as I still had not figured out a solution to our little problem…and Kafi and Debra kept posting on FB requests of pictures at the Castle…ugh…I just ignored trying to figure out how to come clean about losing one of them! It wasn’t long before our pager went off and we were escorted into the Ballroom and then promptly seated at a table for 2 back in a corner against the wall.

3.JPG
Not very magical at all, but whose to complain when you score and ADR at BOG? Our waitress, Madame No Patience- Inattentive finally made her way to our table about 15 minutes AFTER we were seated to welcome us, and what a gruff welcome it was…she must have taken lessons from the Beast on how to treat new guests to the castle. Cammy had decided she wanted a glass of wine to start dinner off, but was promptly carded (which we did not even think about carrying and ID) and then DENIED her glass of wine. I should have ordered it for her and given it to her, but at the moment I was still trying to shake my grey mood and at the moment a drink just did not interest me.

2.JPG

Madame then wanted to know if we were ready to order, like she just handed us the menu and now wanted us to order. So trying to appease her I knew there was an app that I really wanted to try and then asked her for a few moments to look over the menu for our main course. It was quite a while till she returned with our water, so when she did reappear we went ahead and ordered our main course thinking that she probably would not return. She really acted like it bothered her to wait on us. I tried being pleasant with her, but she never did warm up to us. Of course my app, arrived with the main course. Since it was Ash Wednesday, I still tried to remain meatless and went with the French Onion Soup…
5.JPG

6.JPG 7.JPG
WHICH IS TOTALLY AMAZING and for my main course the Ratatouille. I was not very impressed with the Ratatouille, as it was very heavy on the green peppers which overpowered the rest of the veggies. The couscous was nice! Really not a very filling dish and I found myself still hungry! Cammy had the braised pork, which looked and smelled amazing, and probably would have been even more wonderful with a glass of wine! We watched as Madame made her way around other tables, hoping to gain her attention for refills on our water, with no luck. But when she finally came around with the desserts, we already knew what we wanted…One cannot eat in the castle and not have the grey stuff! I really wanted that amazing Master’s Cupcake from our last trip but knew that it was not available with dinner!

8.JPG
While I loved the grey stuff again, the cooking thing underneath was not very appealing. It was hard and dry, plus it lacked the chocolate fudgy taste that I expected. Madame came and cleared our plates and then we were invited to look around the castle and told to make sure that our last stop was the Beast as we would be expected to exit after the pictures. I was hoping for this trip to sit in the West Wing…I know its loud but I find the theming to be so wonderful so of course we had to go in for a peek.

11.JPG 11a.JPG
Then making our way across the Grand Ballroom, I expected the Castle Gallery to be closed off for dinner. Apparently not anymore, so we stopped to admire the music box. I felt sorry for the few tables that had people sitting at them. The room was so bright and on the sides of the room chairs and tables were stacked up, really blowing the entire theming. Next up was our meeting with the beast…

12.jpeg
We found him to be a gracious but rushed host to meet his next guests, which was okay because we wanted to use the bathroom. Remember the warning from Madame to make sure the Beast was your last stop, well she was right. As we made our way to the bathroom we were stopped twice and told we must exit. Thankfully, we were allowed to pass both times but the bathroom was a HUGE mess. I was so disappointed in the condition of the bathrooms, very unmagical. Business taken care of we bundled back up, which was a good thing because when we walked out the door we were met with…

WAHOO...I think we might have a meet up in the works for a couple of cocktails! One of the cupcakes has a friend in who works with RunDisney and they said not to listen to the rumors, the course may change during construction in DHS but not to worry about W&D not being there. As for the race selling out quickly, we have devised a plan for that too...seriously considering going the travel agent bib route. While you have to purchase a room for a determined length of stay, we are just considering doing a split stay...value/moderate before the race and then deluxe afterwards to pamper our bodies and not have to stumble to far after cocktails in Epcot! Or maybe that would be roll to far after too much DINE.

How cool C2C!!! I am hoping for 2018 for mine...darn College bills headed my way next year! LOL Really messing with my race fees, never thought I would ever say that!

I can't wait for the aftertime this trip together! Are we still on for a Butterbeer? Regrets...nah not with this group...the only regret is life getting in the way and we have to leave.

Those pictures...along with the chocolate sauce bowl...I am going to be famous like Captain KillJoy and Drunk Grandma!

Right. Because if we can't ACTUALLY drink without getting ill (speaking for myself here) then at least I can pretend I'm gonna have all these yummy drinks! *sigh* It's just not fair!

Well we could do like we did with the cupcakes...split them. Its all about the PACE...:rotfl2::drinking1

Sounds like a fun time at MK ... minus annoying cheerleader and hiding pirates (they ended up closing POTC for a refurb on Monday & Tuesday ... I wonder if that was because of the closures you mentioned).

I'm a little surprised at Madame No Patience-Inattentive ... I've always had amazing service at BOG. And I did get carded there too ... thankfully, I always travel with ID/money/chapstick/rewards cards for assorted stores that they don't have at Disney (basically, my wallet takes up half of my bag).

I'm glad you enjoyed the soup and the gray stuff ... I guess that maybe a little bit makes up for the poor service? Or not?

I hope you found a solution to the missing Kafi problem!

Oh that is good info! We may do the same. Will have to wait and see. We are trying to decide between DLH and Avengers, but will probably do DLH, because we want to be able to enjoy the W&D part of W&D instead of continuing our training and jumping coasts the next week (if the calendar looks like this year's. And yes, definitely a meet-up!

Training Update: April 6-12
As I sit down to write this update, I was struck with the question “What am I really training for?” Right now I just seem to be in a pattern of just continuous training without a “real race” or should I say a Disney Race on the horizon (there is one rest assured, but not this year and I have to wait through most of next year too). I managed to get out EVERY DAY last week for my 2 mile lunch power walk…the weather was windy but just an overall great week to be out there. One big accomplishment this week was that I officially hit the 200 mark for 2,015 in 2015 and Team DMC are kicking some hiney in the Cupcake group. I said some hiney because there is always the hardcore runners, Jenn and Carol to get all of our mind rights about who the distance champs are in the group. I am so not worthy! We have 3 groups for this virtual challenge…Team Run DMC –Disney Moscato Cupcakes (Kafi, Amy H, Buffy, & me), Team Injured Rum Runners (Debra, Tweedle Bossy, Tweedle Confused and Cammy) and Team Triple D-Dynamic Disney Divas (Carol, Betsy, & Jenn)!

About a week ago, I officially became Half Fanatic #11032 when I paid my dues. Somehow my goal has suddenly changed from just qualifying to “How Many Halfs in Monthly Row Can I Streak?” Not sure how this goal even came about but it seems like that is that I am doing and going with it. I can’t seem to stop and keep looking forward to each months running calendar and trying to fit one in the schedule. With that in mind this weekend I signed up for #4.

791003c15cb58d76c45c2c0e2e291820_400x400.jpg
This was supposed to be Half #3 to qualify for HF for both Cammy and me, but I snuck in RnR Dallas in March. This race was a big step for me as it was a local race and I don’t care too much about running locally because a few years ago we seemed to have a more elitist type attitude in town with the local running club who were not very welcoming to this fluffy girl. There was no blending in the crowds for this one…about 120 runners. Thankfully for me they were running a Full at the same time, so me being last was not an issue. I knew going into the race this was going to be a confusing course (full of u-turns and loops through 3 already confusing subdivisions) and was it…despite having it well marked and volunteers to keep you on track I managed a 0.47 mile detour off the course! UGH.

009.JPG 013.JPG 014.JPG 016.JPG 021.JPG
So how did I finish? Completed-WITH a PR by over 11 minutes! I am totally amazed. I met my goal for the race and even exceeded it, plus I was not in last place, there was a lady behind me! But if you look at the official results she came in before me? Not sure how that happened. I celebrated with the YUMMIEST CUPCAKE ever...Fresh Peach and those who know me would be shocked because I even ate the frosting it was that good! Now to shave off another 18 minutes so that I feel comfortable thinking about doing a full marathon in the future before I am 50. So with this race in the books, I have completed 4 halfs in 83 days or 4 Halfs in 4 Months is a Row!

029.JPG
So how long will I keep this monthly streak going?

Those darn hiding pirates...but it was a good afternoon until we lost Kafi and then it just seemed to go downhill from there...wait until the next update...UGH

I usually am not a big complainer about service, but she was just awful. That was the only time the entire trip that Cammy was carded...figures the one time she does not have her ID. Neither of us like to carry things into the park...we do have our AMAZING sparkle skirt pockets for a few things...

YAY...I can't wait! Hopefully we will get to meet up sooner than that. Been looking at Halfs in Austin and San Antonio for this winter...LOL

I would love to do Avengers. Almost signed up for it since we are planning on being in San Diego that week anyway for my nephews graduation from Marine BootCamp...I was afraid to commit in case his graduation gets moved. WE ARE A HUGE Avenger fans...so ready for May to get here...

Uh, YOU WIN suggestion of the year Debra!!!!!!!!!!! I'm IN! I'm sure you are surprised.

It's Five O'Clock Somewhere Friday...I now have a mission starting in November! Hmmm...Cocktail Crawl...with this group that may not be a great idea...wait till someone posts pictures of me and a lapu lapu....:rotfl2:okay maybe with just me that might not be a great idea...

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

Yes Cocktail Fridays! Best suggestion EVER Debra! We just have to remember to schedule more time after Wine and Dine than before it.. so we can drink without regrets. (maybe?). :)

Ok, so "it's Five O'clock Somewhere Friday" sounds like a plan. All the yummy drinks we in theory want to try, but in reality we will only have like 2 throughout the entire trip lol. :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:dance3::drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1

I wondered why you ignored my text when I asked for a pic of me & my castle...now I know.

BOG...BOG...not sure what I want to do with that one. I am still back & forth on whether or not I want us to try & eat there in Dec.

So proud of you on Amarillo half. I know it's hard when you feel like you aren't training for anything. I am going to just get through this half on the 26th & then focus on my 25K training. After that race I will have at least a few months of no races...probably doing another 25K in Oct & then a half in Nov. Going to be adding in some strength training & speed work with this 25K training plan. Just need to stay healthy & uninjured. You are knocking it out of the park with half marathons each month!

This is a fun trip report! Congrats on all your halfs! I also ran RnR Dallas in March. It was my first half and I loved it! I'm trying to decide what to run next.

UNMAGICAL ENDING TO DAY 1

13.PNG

The temperature outside in Fantasyland was certainly not helping my mood about losing Kafi…I was thankful that Cammy and I decided to pack some more “winter” apprioriate clothing for the trip, even though it was entirely heartbreaking to do so. We decided in about 5 minutes being out in the COLD HUMID night that we would wait around for WISHES and then leave, instead of trying to close the park down at midnight like we had planned. So looking at the clock we had over an hour to kill, so our plan was to find someplace to keep warm but still be doing something…

4.JPG

While it was warm inside, by blood actually began to boil on the ride when about 3 buggies back we had to contend with the rudest group of teenage girls. They decided that they would yell and scream the entire time and use MANY STRINGS of not nice curse words with buggies of children around them. Already in a bad mood, this really pushed Cammy and I over the edge and after the ride I decided to let the inner teacher out. After the ride, I waited for them to exit and stopped them telling them how disappointed I was in their behavior on the ride and walked off. That’s all I said, “I’m disappointed on your choice of words and behavior.” Stupid, I know I should have let it go because their momma came up to me and wanted to know who I thought I was because that she found nothing wrong with their behavior. I know that you can’t deal with stupid at this point, did not engage her and walked back into the exit area in case I needed a CM. I could hear them laughing and of course using the language all the way out into the night. Sheesh, I never do things like that...apparently the cold and bad mood were having more of an effect on me then I realized. Time to put some fun back into the night, or at least try to. Last trip I had wanted to ride Dumbo, but Cammy was not interested…this time the lure of the lighting reeled her right in and off we flew with Dumbo. I think this has to be one of the prettiest rides at night in the entire park.

2.JPG

From there we went into Big Top Treats in search of a cupcake, put of course like everywhere else the last day it was just the standard cupcakes instead of the specialty ones we had read and dreamed about. Leaving empty handed, but warm we made our way towards the hub to find the perfect spot for Wishes.

5.JPG

While waiting I notice this lady in front of me making circles, and upon further inspection I realized she was doing a 360 with a selfie stick. The week prior we had a good laugh and talk in our Cupcake Group about these things so I instinctively pulled out my phone to take a picture so share with the Cupcakes…

6.JPG

Picture taken and shared, it suddenly hit me how to solve the missing Kafi problem. And Cammy and I put the plan into motion with a call to Amy H back in Oklahoma. Suddenly the evening was saved, mood lifted and the cold never bothered me anyway when I have this view in front of me...

8.JPG

and of course the thought of Wishes makes everything better. Just as I was about to take another picture of the castle, I caught Duck Lady with the selfie stick start spinning and focus my attention on not getting hit with the stick…but what I should have paid more attention to was the backpack next to me because just as I hit the button for a picture the backpack hit my arm and sent my camera flying…

7.JPG

Mad mood back and another call to Amy H!!! I was so upset that I really could not focus on my favorite thing in WDW…

10.JPG

Fighting the crowds to get out is always fun, so we decided to wait it out with a trip on the PeopleMover, a favorite of mine.

006_197.jpg

Kafi Missing, No Cupcakes, Cold Temps, and Broken Screen had really just done me in for the day so we decided it was time to head back to the room. We looked for the nearest way out with the least amount of traffic, so we took the path around Tomorrowland Terrace rather than the bridge back to the hub to leave the MK for the evening…BIG MISTAKE. You know how accidents seem to happen in slow motion, well they do. We are just about to Tomorrowland Terrace Café when we see a huge group of the same cheerleaders from Philharmagic coming directly at us at a dead run. I knew what was going to happen and time started to slow down as a cheerleader came closer and closer and closer, until BAM she runs right into my left side without missing a step she continues on, never looking back or apologizing for her actions. I was really surprised that she did not knock me down because I flew back with a pretty good force. I saw it coming and could not do anything to stop it…now my shoulder hurt something awful. People around us yelled at the girls but they just kept going laughing the entire time. What a nonmagical evening…can I just go to bed and get a redo?

HA...you will find that MOST of us are big talkers when it comes to the drinking part...we all think we are still 20 something like Cammy!

I wondered why you ignored my text when I asked for a pic of me & my castle...now I know.

I know...I was feeling so awful about losing Kafi! Sorry to ignore you friend...

I like BOG, but I think I prefer lunch there, although on our next trip can we schedule breakfast there? I won't do dinner again...saw the Beast CHECK.

Thank you...the Amarillo Half was by the far the easiest one of the 4...of course a flat course helps and running mad....but I never truly hit the wall like I had done in the prior 3. Maybe my body is just getting used to the distance? That's what I hope anyway!

YES YOU MUST STAY WELL!!!! I know I need to do speed work, but :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2::crazy2:. I am good with just finishing but I know if I want to get to that marathon I need to get my half time down.

This is a fun trip report! Congrats on all your halfs! I also ran RnR Dallas in March. It was my first half and I loved it! I'm trying to decide what to run next.

Thank you! :welcome: Glad to have you joining in. Make sure you check out Tweedle Bossy's TR! Congrats on your first half...:yay::yay:. Your first is a huge accomplishment! I really enjoyed RnR Dallas! Decisions, Decisions...I am about to push the button for my 5th half next month...YIKES!

YAY...I can't wait! Hopefully we will get to meet up sooner than that. Been looking at Halfs in Austin and San Antonio for this winter...LOL

These are the halfs we have been checking out:
Lake Powell Half - 10/17/15 - because it looks cool, has add-on challenges, and look at those views! http://www.thelakepowellhalf.com/
Denver R&R Half - 10/17/15 - because Katie is staying in Denver to begin her career this Fall.
Masquerade Half - 10/31/15 - San Antonia - great resort -this is the same resort and course where we did the Illuminations Half in December, except this one is during the day. That evening is a masquerade ball. we are going on a cruise Nov 6, so we are thinking it would be nice to do the half right before the cruise, and use the cruise for rest and recovery. http://alamo131.com/masquerade-half/ We are leaning toward this one instead of the others, because no plane travel is required, and it's close to home.

I hope you next day went better than this day you just posted.

Never good to have a bad day at Disney!

Ah yes, the broken phone screen. I remember hearing about that. Still can't believe that happened...and the darn cheerleader bumping into you like that...and the girls on HM...ugh...oh...and Kafi running off to explore without us -- what a day!

As of right now you can schedule BOG breakfast. Not sure what they will be doing in about a year when we would be looking at ADRs for W&D. Guess we just have to wait & see. I think I want to try lunch there, but not sure if it will be in Dec or not.

I think part of you is getting used to running that distance of 13.1 -- eventually you will break through your next time goal if you keep at it. I still have a half PR from 2013 that I need to beat lol. Then again, races have been slim since that one or I have been injured during them. I know my time will come, as will yours.
