WendyO's comments on Mandara Spa and other life issues.
But first, side commentary on Kim's non-massage
Wendy and I made sure there was at least one girl's day out. Kim didn't feel like doing it
Why didn't Kim go to the Spa?
Kim was going to go, but then decided to save her money and spend it on other things... she didn't need/want a massage that badly. We (Robo and I) NEEDED it... ha ha. Also Kim's appt time was really early and you kind of want your treatments at maximum-enjoyment times. Not too early in the a.m. So she cancelled it and opted to hang in the room and save her $$ instead.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming
Wendy and RoboJo had spa appointments at the Mandara Spa at the Dolphin Resort.
So off Wendy and Robo go to the Spa:
This is us at the entrance, awaiting our time of bliss. Thank goodness for self-timers on cameras. We could have taken the ferry from BCV to the Swan/Dolphin but elected to take a walk. It took maybe about 15-20 minutes but it was a nice little stroll to the Dolphin from BCV. Not too bad.
This is the waiting room where we get picked up by our therapists. It was sort of weird in that a lot of the treatment room doors are along the walls in here (see doors on the left and right sides). So you go right from this public area into your treatment room. Hopefully you're not a noisy massage customer or else everyone waiting would hear you.
Ha ha. No one was really in here though when we were waiting.
This is the women's bathroom (guys, close your eyes). Nicely appointed.
This is my treatment room for my pregnancy massage. Note the pillows on the table for my growing belly to rest on. Assuming Robo's looked similar for her swedish massage (sans the pillows).
This is the room where you get pedicures. I also had the "Celebration of the hands and feet" package - a 2-hour manicure/pedicure treatment. Ahhhhhh.
This is the same room but from where I'm sitting in the chair.
So then, we both started around the same time - around 9am - but Robo just had the one treatment (60 minutes) and I had the massage (extended to 80 minutes) and then the 2 hours of hand/foot stuff. So she hung out in the lounge for a while and then headed back to the room to meet the others. I elected to have longer treatments and then meet the gang at DHS straight from the spa.
While I was getting my manicure, the girl next to me was getting married that day!!! (really - who gets a manicure ON the day of their wedding? sorry if any of you have... just seems like there's so much else to do that waiting for your nails to dry and hoping you don't get a smudge is too much pressure for your wedding day
) Anyway, they had been there about a week and were getting married at the Dolphin (or Swan - I can't recall) that day. And then were going to stay another week for their honeymoon. Fun. So she had several members of her party getting their hair done and what not that day. Ahhh, young love. I vaguely remember that.
Note to self: don't get manicures when you're going to have to do anything at all with your hands for sometime afterwards. Needless to say, my mani experienced some casualties before I even got to the park... c'est la vie.
The Mandara Spa looks really nice. Did Wendy and RoboJo have a good time? I wonder what treatments they got.
Yes - we had a good time... see treatments mentioned above.
The spa looks amazing definately think i need to have a morning out leave dh with the boys and have some pampering for myself.
What's a vacation without that??? Not one in my book. Ha ha.
#3-this is more for robojo and wendy, but HOW was the spa? Don't you LOVE that fresh from the spa, hangover-y refreshed, ''give me some water' type feeling??
Yes... but alas, I couldn't just chill for the rest of the day... I had places to go and people to see... (and apparently nails to smudge...)
Kiddos are really cute when sleeping
"When sleeping" is the key phrase here.
I love the sleeping pictures. The one of Dylan is just too cute!
All the sleeping pics are so cute. I love how Dylan looks like he's just chillin.
It's so weird - must be a guy thing - but Dylan loves sitting/sleeping with his hands behind his head. When he sits and watches TV or something, he leans back and puts his hands behind his head. Weird. Erin never did that. Hmmm.
Here's what I found:
Dylan doing his favorite thing...
So cute with Dylan standing to watch TV. My DH does that a lot!
Yeah - it's weird - DH and I do that a lot with our TV - we lean up against the foot of the bed and watch... it's like we don't want to commit to the activity enough to actually get ON the bed and watch... but we want to watch something nonetheless... and then find ourselves standing there for like an hour or something. We're weird.
Thank you Wendy! I had figured out how to make it when we lived there, I even have the covered bowls, but now I couldn't remember what I did, only that I miss it!
No worries - glad I could help. Enjoy and think of us peeps.
I don't remember any news stories about a drunk man overboard on a
Disney cruise so your drunken friend must have done OK on his cruise.
Speaking of "drunk" behavior on
DCL... one DIS friend that we met up with on the Dec 2005 trip on DCL (Cristi, you know who you are) actually accidentally STEPPED OFF THE PIER when we were on our way back to the ship from an excursion and fell in the water. And she wasn't even drunk. It was pretty funny.
I'm about half way through your installments, and I've laughed out loud at least 12 times... maybe 13!
12 or 13 times? That's it? We are clearly not doing our job providing amusement. C'mon Jordan, get back on the ball.
You slacker you. Ha.
