I had root canal done after my oldest child arrived-- January or February of 1998.
Last time I went to the dentist, he said the tooth really needed a crown. So I gathered up my courage and had a temporary crown put in on Friday-- the real one will be ready after they re-open after Passover, the week of May 5. I have been so incredibly careful to eat on the right side of my mouth, since the dentist mentioned that the crown might very well pop out.
Needless to say, it did at dinner tonight. Here goes my vent:
- I have a miserable cold. So I REALLY don't want stuff crammed into my mouth as I struggle to breathe. My mouth HURT a good part of the weekend; I could live without that again for another temporary fix.
- Tomorrow after school is my daughter's last speech class. I can't cancel; we have to give her teacher the thank you gift I picked up today after work.
- Early tomorrow, 25 teachers from my school leave with 400 Seniors for Grad night at WDW. Two more teachers are at a funeral (Mother in law of one, his son-in-law also teaches with us, so they're both out.) Dead or alive, I HAVE to go to work tomorrow. We don't get subs, we cover classes internally. We're maxed out on subs tomorrow and Friday.
So I have a porcelain (I think) crown in a cup in the kitchen. I have a hole in my mouth where the crown used to be. 11 I've left a message at the dentist's machine, basically asking him to squeeze me in at 4 tomorrow so I can get to speech at 5:30.
I managed without the crown for 9 years. Is this Murphy's law or what???
