DD12 is VERY interested in going to Paris THIS summer instead of next. If we were to use our tax refund towards the vacation fund instead of putting it in savings, we would probably be able to pull it off. DH and I are considering it.

We have not yet committed to anything, so I am changing nothing at this point in time, but there is a good chance that I would have to rob my Disney fund to help pay for Europe. We would not be able to book anything for two or three months yet, so for the moment we will continue on exactly as I have been doing but there is a chance that the Disney jar and the Disney bank account savings may find itself on the other side of the savings line a few months from now.

Hey you prob missed it (I think I posted it in the main thread) but have you thought about maybe picking up something like dog walking or house cleaning for a few hours a week? I know my cleaner is actually saving for the exact thing (family trip to Paris) and a couple of houses/dogs a week at $20-25/hr is going to pay for her trip in a few months. Her kids are around the same age, and gone for school all day so she figured this works for her.

I have not thought about it. I do not like dogs...so that would not be good and though I might be willing to do house cleaning...we are a one car family, which makes things a bit tough since DH usually has the car. I miss having it...he walked to TRU in Kamloops so I had it all the time but it's too far for him to walk here and I can't usually drive him because of the kids' schedules. My bestie and her hubby own their own business and work from home and she's forever trying to get me to look into entrepreneurial stuff...she's suggested AT LEAST five different business that I would "be perfect for" but I'm a pretty lazy lass and would rather not take on anything too complicated. But if I were to stumble across something I could handle, I'd seriously consider it!

House cleaning is a good one- I know my neighbourhood (I'm by the Wildlife park) is dying for more people wanting a few hours work- all within a couple of blocks right. Say 3 houses around your neighbourhood a week- 3 hours a house- 9 hours a week x $20-25 hour (that's the rate here) and you are looking at like $700-900/month. I used to do it for extra cash, but now that I work up at the mine (the far one) and am gone from 5:35am-6pm on work days, it just can't happen (hence now having a cleaner)

I am sort of losing my snap revenue. They are giving me the $9 in Groupon credits, so I will likely be able to use it somehow but not the way I was anticipating. I am going to eliminate it when I have the nine bucks to replace it (probably next payday) and then take it out of the tally. This transition is slated to happen on March 1st. I have to look into it at that point...not sure if the groupon credits will be in CAD or USD. If it's CAD, I'll have to figure out how to use them up...if it's USD, I can order a groupon for Landry's or something like that for our next Disney trip.

I went to the bank on Saturday and deposited a bunch of rolled coin from the two vacation jars, so you may notice that the totals will have shifted a bit.

I also have two new sources of revenue but I wasn't sure how to track them because the points values don't transfer over dollar for dollar. I just listed them above as an addendum with the points I currently have. I'll do up a chart later on that shows what dollar value goes with the corresponding cash out points balance.

I have a Shopper's Optimum card that accumulates points and I am nearing the point mark for $30 worth of free merchandise. I've actually had it for a long time, but I never listed it before because I didn't use to accumulate the points very quickly at all. They changed the program some though and now I've got this system going which is helping me to build them up much faster. I'll do the same with these as I do with my credit card rewards...buy either groceries, household items or possibly gift cards (for birthday presents or family fun activities) and toss the money I would have used for those items into the savings account.

I also have an Esso Extra points card for my gasoline purchases. I've still got a ways to go before I get to the points equivalent for $20 worth of gasoline. I think I'd need to get gas 7-10 more times (depends on fill up amount) before I'd have enough to cash in for the $20 card. I didn't list this one before because it takes so long to build. It took me almost a year to get $10 in 2014 and I've been building it up since the fall of that year and I'm still not at $20!! It will be the same process...the money I don't have to spend on the gasoline will go into the savings account. I may just let this sucker build until a month before we actually go on a trip because it takes so long. But I'll start tracking the points on it at least.

And finally, I cashed in for a prepaid visa through Ipsos Isay. It's a $50 card and when it arrives, (it'll be a few weeks) I'll adjust the points balance...since technically I only have $6.60 in there at the moment. There was a $1 fee...likely to cover the postage, so I'll have to make that up in addition to the $9 for the snap earnings.
