Day 2 - A Spectacle of Extra Magic and a Mouse Chef!

Saturday 2nd January 2016
Part 2 - Cue 'the look'

We had a quick catch up with Mam who told us that she had used her refillable mug to get some coffee (FOR FREE) and read her book in bed for a bit. She had got on the bus outside our room and it took her on a nice trip all around the resort before leaving. The reception was only a short 5min walk from our room so we told her to go there from now on.

Our parents had never stayed on Disney property before and although we had explained several times back home how the dinning plan worked we found ourselves regularly answering their questions about it, usually because they were surprised at what they could get for ‘free’

Our fastpass window had opened up for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (we were actually slightly late at this point) but we had waited for Mam to arrive to ride with us. I can’t get enough of this ride!! It’s so cute and the mine itself is so pretty!

HEIGH HOOOOOOOOOO

It was about 10.30am and the park was starting to get busier now and we were all getting hungry!! It was still quite early though and we wanted to head to Columbia Harbour House for lunch which wasn’t open just yet.

We decided to watch my favourite 3D show

Philharmagic!

I love this show! I remember it from the time I came to MK when I’d just turned 9yrs old, I remember thinking we had great seats because tinkerbell came right out to me lol

We still had a bit more time to kill before we could finally EAT so we went on Rachel’s favourite ride ever…
1358990402_wdw_mk_itsasmallworld.jpg

Ok so it was her favourite ride ever… when she was 4! She made us go on it OVER and OVER and OVER again… I was haunted by that song!

FINALLY IT WAS FOOD TIME!!
26234662226_a254152564_b.jpg

I’d never eaten at CHH before so was excited to check it out!

So of course my parents were like… ‘What are we allowed to get’

Cue the look
giphy.gif

“A main, a drink and a desert”

Mam: “Can I even get the grilled Salmon for free, it’s more expensive?”

Me: “Yep… any main Mam”

SO MUCH FOOD!!!
25655803294_7631502f36_b.jpg

Dad and Rachel got the lobster roll, I got the chicken breast nuggets (sharing with Rachel) and Mam got the grilled salmon.

The lobster roll was so YUMMY!

I love the Disney Parks designs on the cups… so cute!
25657888683_75b3c243d1_b.jpg

We wanted to head shopping to get some groceries and also pop to the Disney Outlet store so we made our way back to the car.

BB8 MONORAIL!!!
26234293416_82788d4279_b.jpg

I’m a bit of a Star Wars geek as you will see over the next two weeks!

We went to the Outlets first which was a great call because although it was busy when we arrived (around 12pm) it was MAYHEM when we were leaving.

I wasn’t that impressed with this outlet so I didn’t pick up very much. I got a nice light zippy top that you’ll see me sporting later! Rachel did manage to get a Splash Mountain t-shirt for the 5K though… spotting the theme yet???

We headed back to our resort to chill for a little bit before our busy evening ahead.

This is the view from the front of our room
26195949512_a5550ea870_b.jpg

I realised only after I’d booked our ADRs that the Osborne Lights would still be on during our stay which I was SO EXCITED ABOUT!!

I ran through the Osborne Lights in the 2014 W&D Half Marathon but I’d never actually been to the show to see them ‘dance’

We had dinner reservations at Chef Mickeys so our plan was to drive to HS to see the lights show then drive straight to the Contemporary for dinner.

Our plan was got off to a rocky start when I spotted a sign stating that the HS car park was closed and that guests should park at EP. Luckily I spotted in just in time for us to make a handy turn off towards MK. I thought we would be better off parking up at the Contemporary and getting resort transport to HS and back again for dinner.

The Contemporary has this cool screen displaying the bus due times which I believe they are currently trialling in a few resorts.
26288378125_9f2a2eff84_b.jpg

Before too long we were on the bus. It’s a bit annoying that the busses at deluxe resorts are shared but we still made it to HS with plenty of time to make the show.

Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HOLLYWOOD!
25685641333_22b9ab7fc2_b.jpg

26222115391_29aa84ffde_b.jpg

Now there was something both me and Rachel really wanted to get, the black sequin Minnie ears. You know the ones that are always available in pretty much every store? Well… not this time!! We had kept an eye out in MK that morning but didn’t see any so I had downloaded the Shop Parks app (which is AMAZING if you like Disney shopping btw) and could see a few stores in HS that had them in stock. We tried them out… no luck!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

It was NOT a good shopping day so far… Oh well… Still at Disney so nothing was going to kill my spirit!

We decided we better get a spot for the show so walked back to the Streets of America.

Another item I’d seen in haul videos (I know it sounds like I’m doing nothing but shopping right now… I swear I don’t have a problem!) was the ‘that’s a wrap’ shirt which was super cute, Christmassy and would be a great reminder of the times I’d been lucky enough to see the lights before they took them down for good.

I asked a CM and she pointed to a stall that had LOADS of them left.

YAH!!!

Rachel said she wasn’t going to get one but I could see the look on her face when she saw them in person and I knew she would totally cave!!

We put our new tops on and stood in the streets waiting for the show. We were stood about ¼ of the way down the street, the area where Goofy would come to start the show was about halfway down so we could kinda see what was going on. It was actually less crowded than I expected.

We weren’t waiting too long before Goofy made his appearance. There was a quick countdown and then the show started!
25683523104_46f58fe279_b.jpg

I have to say the show as AMAZING! I thought having already seen the lights lit up before I wouldn’t be blown away by it but the way the lights ‘danced’ to the music incredible. I’m so sad this was the last year

We took some photos with the lights

One big thing I had decided before the trip that I wanted to buy myself was a Dooney & Bourke cross body bag. I wasn’t too sure what design I wanted and I saw on the shop parks app that they had a special edition Star Wars one so of course I wanted to check that out!

I was having trouble with my signal but I knew the name of the store (Watto's Grotto) but the only CM’s I could find didn’t have a clue what I was talking about! I tried around the Launchpad area but couldn’t find any bags… BOO

25683509084_c85611c5a2_b.jpg

It was time to leave the park and go for dinner with the one and only Chef Mickey

The HS Christmas Tree looked so pretty

Day 2 - A Spectacle of Extra Magic and a Mouse Chef!

Saturday 2nd January 2016
Part 3 - Compliments to the Chef Mickey

We quickly caught a bus back to Contemporary. I was really looking forward to this meal and getting some good character photos but I was also starting to feel the effect of our travelling the day before and our early start that morning!

Who needs sleep in Disney right??!
giphy.gif

We arrived at the hotel and made our way up to Chef Mickeys
26195924072_2fcdc37347_b.jpg

We registered and were called almost immediately for our pre meal photo
26304215616_269c040530_b.jpg

We were seating in the back section on the far side of the buffet. I made my way up to get some food and there was a bit of a queue to get round to the buffet. I got what I think was sweet corn soup which was really creamy and delicious but quite filling to start with!

Day 3 - I've got wet hair

Sunday 3rd January 2016
Part 1 - What time is it?!

So….. we all got into bed when we arrived back at OKW and I was probably the first to drift off. I slept right through and checked my phone when I woke up and it was around 6.30am. HS was due to open at 8am so I figured I’d get up and have a shower and then get us some coffee in our refillable mugs. I jumped in the shower which woke me up properly, I felt like I’d slept well but still felt quite tired overall. Dad was heading into the bathroom as I came out so I threw on a hoodie and made my way over to the main reception building for coffee.

As I was walking over it was really quite around, I guess we were the only ones crazy enough to be up and about at this time of the morning! I got closer to the main building and it looked like the area that served hot drinks wasn’t open yet. I was pretty sure I had read in our information booklet that it was open at 7am so I checked my phone again. It was 7:05am… IRISH TIME!!!! Meaning it was only 2:05AM Orlando time!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT??!

I sat at one of the picnic tables for a bit and took a photo to capture my mood…
26392074590_d8c7825980_b.jpg

Back to the room I went with my empty refillable mugs and tired head! I still had wet hair from my shower but I hopped straight back into bed and slept for another couple of hours. I was awake then again when it was actually6.30am! I told Dad and Rachel what happened and they just laughed at me and Dad says ‘ye, I was wondering why you had a shower at 2am’ you’d think he would have said something to me at the time!! Rachel said she woke up too and was wondering what I was doing heading out at that hour but just assumed I couldn’t sleep! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

So second time round I went out to the reception area and got us some hot drinks. I’m pretty sure Rachel asked for powerade and they didn’t have any and whatever I did bring back she had zero interest in… aw well!

Again it was just the three of us to start the day and Mam stayed behind to chill with her book. HS has thrill rides so it works well for us three to go early, ride and re-ride our favourites. We made our way over to the reception bus stop and waited for a HS bus.

We waited quite a bit and then realised we should’ve driven!! I don’t know why we didn’t think to drive!
26061168413_5e51de4269_b.jpg

A cruise line bus pulled in.. this is something that is on my to do list... one day!!
25767388384_151148bfe4_b.jpg

I love HS especially when the queues aren’t too long and I can get on two of my favourite rides in all of WDW. Unfortunately (and what seems to happen EVERYTIME I get to HS early) one of the big two were down (RR this time) so we went over to tower of terror first.

26061158003_2bd3ca9039_b.jpg

There was a queue to get into the queue lol
25769482343_c61b37f5cb_b.jpg

This was just CM's scanning magic bands to make sure that it was only resort quests getting in the ride queue.

Pre-ride pics

Oooooh scary lights

Lift selfie
26346290686_e6fe602ff1_b.jpg

We had all the drops and then we came down to the bit at the end and that’s when it happened… that little threat he makes right at the end about becoming a ‘permanent resident of the twilight zone’ our vehicle just stopped….. then it went dark…. Then nothing…. It was actually pretty creepy!

We didn’t get anything over the intercom for a while and then we were told the ride would move shortly…. But it didn’t… then the lights came on so I was a little less creeped out.
26061149003_c0c01a0363_b.jpg

Meanwhile the other lifts seemed to be working fine as we could hear people screaming away. Finally we were rescued and asked if we wanted to re-ride and skip the queue via a secret entrance….

HELL YE!!! I love anything backstage!

Our second ride was just as much fun and with no hiccups at the end. By the time we got out Rockin Rollercoaster was up and running but had a big queue! We decided to jump into the single rider queue.
26279838712_a88a8f8b4e_b.jpg

Dad and Rachel ended up sitting together anyway

I was in the same car but different row, love the guy and girl in the row behind me

We were getting a bit peckish so we went to get some breakfast and coffee at none other than

STARING ROLLS

We decided to split two snack credits between the three of us because those staring rolls cupcakes are SO BIG

26099340870_cd00ba27b3_b.jpg

As we are all Star Wars fans (Rachel a little less so) we wanted to check out the new Star Wars store Watto’s Grotto and I’d checked on the parks app to make sure that they had the dooney and bourke I wanted. We made our way over and found it no problem this time thanks to the wifi and my phone!

First thing I did was try to seek out my bag and it turns out it’s been out of stock for weeks park wide and they’ve no idea when it’ll be back…. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?! Why is Disney making taking my money so hard this time round!!

Sadness
Adam-Brody1.gif

Luckily there was a yoda nearby to cheer me up! A CM had a very cool robot yoda that responded to comands! So much fun!

Thanks yoda… if you were cheaper I would take you home and play with you every day…. ‘turn yoda turn’

Now even more so than yoda there was something waiting close by that was bound to cheer me up… SANTA GOOFY!!!

I spotted a sign that said he was due to meet at 10am which was only 10mins away but it was starting to RAIN and RAIN HARD! I was over by the rope to get into the viewing area (which was covered) and the CM was like ‘it’ll be opening shortly’

REALLY?! Can’t you see it’s wet out here!!
shockedgif.gif

I think she caught a glimpse of my rainy despair and let us in pretty much straight away.

YAH!!! First in line!!

The photopass guy was having some equipment issues so we snapped away on my phone

The rain had let up a bit when we came out so was wandered down towards the park exit to get a bus back to our room.
26305947961_20bb78222f_b.jpg

We caught up with Mam who was enjoying her ‘free’ coffee and our next plan for the day was to head to the Disney Springs for some shopping and lunch. We chilled in the room for about an hour and then myself and Rachel were good to go!

We went on ahead, catching the boat from reception.
26059579014_153256b535_b.jpg

Here it comes...
26392016550_16ebec8b75_b.jpg

This was the first time I’d had boat transport at a Disney hotel so I was really excited about it!
im-on-a-boat-gif.gif

It took quite a while to get there but it was a fun ride!

BOAT SELFIE
26059565284_75c47ec11c_b.jpg

We went straight to World of Disney and got our shop on! I was interested in checking out the dooney and bourke again and had settled on getting the disneyana cross body. I know it’s probably a bit generic but I really liked the design! I was a bit worried that it was white though!

After about an hour of shopping we got a text from our parents to let us know they were on the way. When they arrived we headed to Wolfgang Puck Express. I’ve been to the one over by the main Wolfgang Puck café but the one in the marketplace seemed a lot nicer to me!
25769432483_9052ffa602_b.jpg

Of course Mam was like…
26059557284_b2d0701c2e_b.jpg

“Can I order this for free”

(points to the most expensive main)

Cue the look
Buffy-Evil-Eye.gif

YES MAM!!!

I went for Pepperoni Pizza
25767326944_742d3f29a0_b.jpg

Rachel got margarita
26061063153_a64402977b_b.jpg

Dad got chicken alfredo
26665300075_43975c8b77_b.jpg

And Mam had her free salmon
26305926971_20dca8a568_b.jpg

And we all got cheesecake for desert
26099308980_6bded75ec5_b.jpg

This was delicious!! I would definitely recommend this on the dining plan! We ordered at the counter but our food was brought to the table. Our waitress was lovely and the food was so so good.

We popped back into World of Disney for my parents to have a look around and then got the boat back to our room.

Oh no, I can't cope! What happened to the car? You said your dad went back to get it so I assume you drove to HS, but then you said you caught the bus back to the resort? I know I sound nit-picky, but my mind just grabs these things and won't let go, so I'm wondering if you really forgot the car there or if I misread that you took the car lol.

Lol at the time difference, that is totally what I would do

And OMGosh about the dark wait in ToT

Aw thank you!! I'm so sad they are gone now, it was something really unique and had such a great Christmas feel about it!
Thanks for following!

Great report! Your parents are adorable and I love your mom's red shoes, but how is she walking around a Disney park in them?! :worship:

Excited to hear more about your stay :)

Haha they are lovely shoes! We didn't do too much walking around this evening but she does end up regretting her shoe decision at a later date!

The dancing lights look so beautiful! I love those shirts you guys bought. Hopefully you can find those mouse ears later in the trip.

Ye I love the shirts too! I like wearing Christmas themed clothes around the holiday season so it'll be getting put to use for sure!

Haha well spotted!! This did happen (where Dad went back to get the car) but it wasn't this morning, I realised that when I was writing the rest of the day but forgot to remove that bit of the TR... OOOOOOOPS!!! I've taken that line out now!

It was SO EARLY! My phone does this thing where it displays the time where you are and the time back home and I didn't realise I was looking at the wrong one.... It made for a funny story the next morning though

So much delicious food in your updates! I LOVE Chef's! Plus, you picture with Mickey is great- you look like you've got matching outfits on.

I've never been to Wolfgang's but your mom's 'free' salmon looks yummy! :)

Following along...

Ye I'm a BIG foodie! I loved planning all of our ADR's especially this time with the dining plan!

It was really good, I would definitely recommend it!

Great updates! I've never eaten at Wolfgang Puck Express but the food looks delicious. I think Earl of Sandwich is where I usually go.

You should try it sometime! I love Earl of Sandwich too, Wolfgang Puck is great though if you fancy a bit more of a sit down meal.

Day 3 - I've got wet hair

Sunday 3rd January 2016
Part 2 - It's raining it's pouring....

We had a short chill in the room and had a little snooze. Then it was time to head to Epcot!

YAH!! I love Epcot… it’s really grown on my the last few visits. I remember not really being that impressed with it when I was younger and I think that’s fitting because I do feel like it’s the most adult friendly park. On more recent visits I’ve really enjoyed Epcot and always left feeling like I wanted to see more of it!

Again we caught the bus from reception, this time we saw it driving past us on our way over to reception (the bus stops outside our room then goes off around the resort and back past our room towards reception but without stopping this time) so we ran across to make sure we got it. Turns out it takes another turn to pick guests up before finally stopped at reception so we made it in plenty of time!

26372131165_9172330d3f_b.jpg

As you can see the weather was a bit miserable but we didn't let it bring us down, we were going to dine with princesses!

EPCOT here we come!

The Christmas decorations were still up at Epcot which was really nice!

We stopped off at Mouse Gears to pick up SPARKLY MINNIE EARS... YES!!!

There was a reason for us coming to Epcot today… It was the LAST day to ride Soarin before it closed for refurb! I had a fastpass booked which was definitely needed because the queue was MASSIVE! It was almost 2hrs!

My parents loved the fact that we could just walk past the queue… in moments like this we would get a ‘thanks girls’ for all the planning… It’s nice to have it appreciated! SPREADSHEETS WORK PEOPLE!!

We were in loading bay B for our flight…

26279772022_2c56e0e976_b.jpg

I find this whole area a bit odd and I’m not sure why. I feel like it’s maybe a bit dated or something and it kind of turns me off eating at sunshine seasons. I really can’t explain the feeling!

It was so much fun as always, Goofy and Mickey were in great form!

We then made our way over to the world showcase, I wanted a drink!! Of course I insisted on a visit to Cava de Tequila!

LOVE THIS PLACE!

Our barman was great! He recommended different drinks for us and we got a really nice selection. He said the avocado was really good and although reluctant because I’m not a big fan of avocado I trusted his opinion…

The avocado was so refreshing and delicious!!

I’m pretty sure Rachel got the Blood Orange

It was getting close to our reservation time in Norway so we headed that way in the still miserable weather.

WOW… those margaritas are STRONG! We were all feeling quite merry!

We checked in for our dinner and waited under an umbrella at a table with another family to be called. It was pretty squashed under there but we had a laugh with the other people waiting…

We were seated at the table and given a menu to order our mains. The starter was a buffet.

I wasn’t blown away by the food to be honest. It was nice but not memorable.

IT SMELT SO GOOD

We used some snack credits for popcorn and a caramel apple… nom nom nom

We watched Illuminations and I wanted to just watch and enjoy so I didn't take any photos... SOZ

It was getting late and we were pretty wet so made our way out to the exit

We waited for our bus, pretty wet but still in great spirits…

Day 4 - Around the world to find some ketchup!

Monday 4th January 2016
Part 1 - Don't forget your passport

Good Morning Disney!!!

This morning I did something I rarely do in Disney... I didn't get up super early! After my stoooopidity the day before I needed the extra rest and we planned to do a little shopping that morning too so I caught some extra Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz's

I was still ready to go before the rest of the family! I'm not the most patient person so I decided to head out and get us some drinks.

Refillable mugs!! They get you 'free' coffee you know!

26099230610_0e2488fcdd_b.jpg

I was delighted to see that there was some Irish Breakfast tea!! I LOVE tea.. I drink coffee but usually no more than one a day and I only tend to like the ones you get in places like starbucks hehe

OKW was looking exceptionally pretty this morning (I took this photo right outside our room door)
26099228630_fa56110dc6_b.jpg

I brought our drinks back and waited a little longer for everyone to get ready.. PATIENTLY

latest

I decided to take a few snaps to share with you all of my lovely new Dooney and Bourke

I really have never paid this much or even close to this much for a bag EVER in my life. I think my most expensive bag ever was a Guess bag in the Premium Outlets for like $120. It was a rather extravagant purchase for me so I really wanted to take care of it.

FINALLY everyone was ready and we went shopping.

I sent my boyfriend a picture of this store as Lindt chocolate is our absolute FAVORITE chocolate ever!!

26659402040_6612d018c8_b.jpg

We went inside but I think I was overwhelmed by all the flavors and I didn't buy any!

SADNESS
giphy.gif

After our shopping trip myself and Rachel decided to head to Epcot and do some exploring of the world showcase. We had read online about a passport you could buy although we'd never seen it ourselves. I googled where to find it and it was apparently sort in the Port of Entry store right at the start of the Word Showcase.

We made our way straight there and sure enough..
25769327973_aac573cc4f_b.jpg

Our plan was to head to a few countries today and use some of our counter service and snack credits to begin our eating around the world journey. We weren't planning to complete them all in one day, I didn't want to rush like we had done the previous trip and we also had dinner reservations at Whispering Canyon which involves a WHOLE LOTTA FOOD in case you didn't already know!

Our first stop for food was Tangerine Cafe in Morrocco. I'd never eaten before but I'd seen pictures on here and thought it looked pretty good! We decided to get two meals here using our CS credit

Chicken and Lamb Shawarma Platter

And desert (Baklava)

26864793191_9eccac11fc_b.jpg

I really enjoyed the mains although the pitta pockets where a bit dry on their own so I added in some humous! The desert was interesting, Rachel did not like it at all but I gave it a good go!

Still feeling like we needed something sweet we decided that we would get some ice-cream. Now Rachel insisted that the best place for ice-cream was Italy, I on the other hand thought that the nicest scooped ice cream was in France.

We walked around to Italy, taking our time and soaking up the atmosphere

Here's Italy!!

And here is the tiny little ice cream stand
26326827444_e98ce1a0da_b.jpg

Hmmmmmm... pretty sure we were expecting a proper ice-cream parlour... wonder where that could be... OH YE... BACK IN FRANCE!!

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA I love being right
im-right-youre-wrong_1370.gif

'Don't be mad because you don't know Disney like I know Disney'
(stolen from a TR of @Ariel484 this little phrase was our favorite wind up of the trip)

Back to France we went where I decided to get a traditional chocolate chip

NOM NOM NOM
26932498105_81f4f1c5ab_b.jpg

We walked slowly back around passing through the UK again and this time I stopped to take a photo in a phone booth to send home
26326823044_83dbb8089e_b.jpg

I look angry because I sent this with the caption 'ANSWER YOUR PHONE I'M IN LONDON!!!'

LOLZ I'm too funny

We had a fast pass for test track so we walked around to Future World... did you know there's a shortcut to Test Track via Mouse Gears??
26838428932_48ce937f9a_b.jpg

It may not be actually SHORTER but it's definitely more fun!

VERY blurry image of our car... We WON in our group.. BOOOM

Our ride photo was of a completely different car though!! So I have a random Test Track photo of strangers.. HUMRPH :(

I'm thoroughly enjoying your report! And your mom asking about what she could order for free off the menu :lmao:

Ooh Whispering Canyon. That's been recently added to our shortlist of restaurants on our next visit, so looking forward to that review.
