Oh Dopey!! - January 2016 Trip Report & VLOGS *updated 02/21

I haven't taken advantage of morning EMH in so long because of race weekends. It looks like you made the best of it though! You guys always take great photos!

I'll check out the YouTube channel.

Part 2 – Gaston & MK

Good Morning Magic Kingdom!!
31047104365_ed87c6c40d_b.jpg

We hadn't got anything really in mind to do here other than soaking up the atmosphere and taking it easy. Of course a visit to MK isn't complete for us without a ride on Space Mountain and luckily we had some fastpasses...

Look at this for synchronized posing! The guy in the front is posing too!

We decided to head over to Gaston's Tavern next for some breakfast.

Looked like there was some filming going on outside...

We got the perfect combination...

Lefou's brew

and a cinnamon roll

Delicious as usual! I love stopping in here in the morning when it's not really busy. We took the obligatory photos in Gaston's armchair

And then decided to wait to see the man himself! Meeting Gaston in a must do! He is so much fun to meet!

Our next fastpass was for Mine Train... HEIGH HO!!

LOOK AT RACHEL'S HAIR!!

We had one last fast pass for Splash Mountain so we popped over there next... We totally wimped out and wore our ponchos though!

After that we decided to head back to the resort and chill, we had a busy evening with dinner in Epcot and late opening at the Magic Kingdom...

Bus seflie...

Back at the resort we took a trip to the Mara for some food and then chilled by the pool

Part 3 – Drink it like water

After some relaxation we were ready to head to Epcot
32546749421_8955067f2f_b.jpg

We had a reservation at Le Cellier! We'd never eaten here before so I was really excited to try something new. We stopped to take a photo on the way into Epcot
32947648805_3b01375ac8_b.jpg
When we arrived for our reservation they were running a bit behind so we sat and waited to be called.
After waiting about 15mins we were taken to our table
32668856235_712bc97d9b_b.jpg
Now.. Rachel was due to get her exam results during our meal (she's sitting accounting exams) and so she was super nervous! I tried to distract her with food talk!
Luckily some bread arrived to help me out
31826214434_918ec16746_b.jpg
The pretzel bread was YUMMY! We both ordered the cheddar cheese soup and our waitress recommended keeping the pretzel bread to dip in it. Our waitress was lovely and also recommended a cocktail for me to try, she told us that she 'drank it like water' at home... remember that!
The soup arrived... it was delicious and the bread was so nice with it!
31826242204_23e84b7c18_b.jpg
We probably could have shared one though... Rachel's nerves has killed her appetite
My drink arrived... you know the one that our waitress could drink like water?
31856637473_ee5c93b69c_b.jpg
This was the 'Le Cellier Caesar' which was explained as 'A Canadian favorite featuring Iceberg Vodka, Clamato Juice, and a Blend of Seasonings'. Now I liked the sounds of seasoning and I was thinking a bit of spice like what you get in some of the drinks at Cava del Tequila. This was THICK... so HOT...and full of TABASCO... I don't know about you but I think tobasco is an acquired taste and I'd expect to see it listed in the ingredients! Also... HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU DRINK THIS LIKE WATER????!! It's the complete opposite of a drink that you can guzzle down like water... Anyway, safe to say I did NOT like my cocktail. Although I'm not a massive fan of tobasco I can drink it (a bloody Mary for example) it wouldn't be what I'd choose but if I'd paid for a cocktail I'd drink it. This I could not drink... it was SO THICK. The waitress came over and asked if everything was OK and I explained that the drink was too thick and very hot and she offered to top it up with a bit of juice. It did nothing. I didn't finish it.
Rachel's cocktail on the other hand...
31826240164_7c4e5fe0e0_b.jpg
Delicious!
I think this was the Torontopolitan but I'm not 100%.
We had decided to go with a selection of starters/sides instead of main courses.

31826238394_618aef0d5b_b.jpg
31826237054_4dcc7e36f5_b.jpg
The poutine (fries) was SO GOOD! The rest was nice.. but we weren't blown away.
I stuffed myself with poutine... like completely STUFFED!! Rachel FINALLY got her exam results (and passed YAH!) but that was towards the very end of the meal. I was so full but when offered to take the poutine away in a container I couldn't resist!
We left Le Cellier and I think overall we weren't impressed. I loved the poutine and the soup was really good too but I think the issue with the cocktail and overall slow service put us off a bit. I know we didn't have the full experience because we didn't get mains but I wouldn't be in a rush back. When we go back in October 2017 we will hopefully be able to get the soup and steak during food and wine and I think that will be enough for us.
We made our way out of Epcot and over to the Magic Kingdom...
Our first stop was Storybook Circus.. AGAIN! We wanted some pics with Donald in our race top and we missed Minnie and Daisy the night before.
31856634933_dbe65762fd_b.jpg
Goofy was in great form again and we got some fun pictures
32132817953_a9f59ba633_b.jpg
32793703432_a4b2a0c0aa_b.jpg
Donald was very impressed with our running medals

32132796523_6df71ea172_b.jpg
He spend ages with us and wanted to do a running pose too
32104006894_f5629e04cc_b.jpg
We got some big hugs before saying goodbye
32104013004_b940cfff42_b.jpg

We popped around to see the sassy ladies next, first up was Daisy
32906601996_ef29c28f8f_b.jpg

She loved our Donald medal as well
32132802013_e51112c4e5_b.jpg
We got some big hugs from Minnie
32906585666_9c56f49e52_b.jpg
32104006094_ba266df34a_b.jpg
We got some really cute pics with Minnie, again some of my favourite from our trip
32104005734_b9fcebd7e7_b.jpg
32104004184_44aec3431e_b.jpg
We decided to ride Dumbo next! The last time we rode Dumbo I was 9 and Rachel was 4!!
31856633813_3bcbccd1df_b.jpg
WE HAD SO MUCH FUN ON THIS RIDE!! I took a video that you can watch in our vlogs if you check out our youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/doublethedisney) and Rachel was having a HEART ATTACK because she gets so anxious about cameras or phones falling on rides especially up high. Also that little door thing to get into Dumbo didn't feel very secure when we were up high! It was the highlight of the night for me!
We decided to call it a night... we took a photo with the castle on our way out
32947624515_e02e2c2d80_b.jpg
32906603286_133f768f34_b.jpg
And then it was home to bed... tomorrow we were heading home... BOO! But not before we had some more MK time... YAH!

Day 18 – Our Last Day

Sunday 18th January 2016
Part 1 – The last bit of magic

It's our last day..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
There is only place we like to spend our last day and that's the Magic Kingdom. It's the best place to go to soak up the last bit of magic.
We stopped for a picture with the castle.... AND the crane lol
32906579776_129d3ca1dd_b.jpg
We strolled down Main Street USA and took in every little detail... I love this place, it's my home... I don't want to LEAVE!
We watched the trolley show and I just tried my best to enjoy the moment and not think about going home..
31826221574_3378aeb2f1_b.jpg
We decided one of our favourite rides might cheer us up so we headed to Space Mountain
32947580485_4c777ecd5f_b.jpg
We'd booked some early fast passes so we went over to Mine Train next...
32103989484_f501b6ff8b_b.jpg
We made our to our next fastpass and final ride of the trip... well if it's going to be your final ride you might as well make it a WILD one!
31826209834_d1d18d9ea9_b.jpg
I love Big Thunder Mountain.. so much fun!
Now... the next thing we did I can't believe I've never done before. I've been to Disney so many times and I've read so much about this snack... I actually thought one time I had one but then it turned out I'd actually had something else...

Can you guess???

DOHL WHIP
31826209444_f3be0a18a6_b.jpg
O...........M..........G
It was SO NICE!!!
So.. how has this happened?! Why have I not tasted this delicious snack?! Like I said I thought I had... I had ice-cream from a place in Adventureland (name escapes me right now) and I think it might have even been pineapple but it was NOT a dohl whip float... This was DIVINE!!
After that snack we decided to eat some more! A trip didn't feel complete without a visit to Caseys so I went there to order a hot dog and grabbed a table while Rachel went to Sleepy Hallow for some funnel cake.
Rachel took a lot longer than me! I think the queue was pretty bad..
I got the chilli cheese hot dog... NOM NOM NOM
32668860045_f9c3496103_b.jpg
31826221094_b4af0cb51c_b.jpg
Rachel finally arrived with her funnel cake
31826220654_1a33e569f1_b.jpg
We savored our last meal and enjoyed our prime people watching spot.
And then it was time... that horrible horrible time.... when you have to leave Disney...
This photo says it all
32103994624_ee2f5d20f5_b.jpg
We walked slowly back to the bus stop... we had left ourselves some time to chill at AKL before our tragical express as we would have to SQUEEZE in our last few purchases to our already FULL cases...
We turned at the train station and waved goodbye...
SEE YA REAL SOON
Back at AKL we packed and left our bags with bell services while we had one last wander around our beautiful hotel.
We popped into the gift shop and I bought my last chocolate milk. Too soon we were boarding our bus to MCO.
At least I had my milk
32668857285_15a4cd755c_b.jpg
Our journey to MCO was uneventful and we arrived in plenty of time for our flight. We popped into the Disney Store and I bought a backpack (the same one Rachel bought earlier in the trip) which made my carry on luggage a bit easier to manage.
I wish I'd taken a picture but I think we were just too sad... boarding the plane we still had our matching navy Disney World sweatshirts on... our matching backpacks and our matching Dumbo pillow pets in our hands.
We settled down for the flight home.... until next time...

Oh ye... about that... so a couple of months after our trip when I was back home in Dublin for the weekend we were talking about our trip and how much fun we had and how much we were looking forward to coming back in October 2017 but it was SO FAR AWAY... Too far away... So I hopped online 'just to check' if it would be possible to go back sooner. And it was... two days later we were booked to go back to WDW in the fall of 2016.. TR coming very soon!!

Awesome TR! I loved following along your Dopey journey.

You guys really made the best of Photopass and has some fantastic shots in every park.

I did Le Cellier for the first time in January and I agree the poutine was so good!

Can't wait to read about your next adventures.

Being a transplanted Canadian I'm surprised by your description of the Caesar. Technically it's the same as a Bloody Mary, just made with Clamato instead of Tomato juice. TBH I'm not a fan of either, but it definitely shouldn't have been that thick or that hot :(

Poutine is something I miss horribly from home. I'm looking forward to trying the new Poutine shop in DS. But you've given me a reason to consider ale Cellier in future even if we don't go for a full meal.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us all. I love your trip reports, and had fun watching your DLP vlogs

I just read through this whole thing between yesterday and today!

I have done a few of the RunDisney half marathons (and a 10k), but never the Dopey! It's so exhausting just to read about, I can't imagine doing all that mileage so quickly. I am surprised you had so much park time in addition to the races. I would have needed much more down time after doing the events.

I will have to go look for your other reports. I'd love to do the Disneyland Paris Half sometime. I've never been to DLP, so that would be amazing.

Oh no, I'm sorry your waitress didn't properly describe the Caesar to you! It is definitely an acquired taste and one that many Canadians (including this one) LOVE. They are the perfect drink imo, but shouldn't be thick, Clamato juice is thinner than tomato so that's a bit odd *shrug* Okay I'm going to have to go finish your report, really enjoying it but had to comment on your bad Caesar experience.

Sorry just realised I never replied to the final comments on here!

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed following along. YES we got SO MANY photos and it's great having all those memories to look back on. It was such a great trip and a lovely family memory for us all.

Poutine was SO GOOD.. I wonder if the poutine in Disney Springs is any good?!

I'll be starting my TR from our last WDW trip as soon as I finish up our DLP trip report :-)

It BURNED lol Even when it was topped up with more juice I couldn't drink it!

Did you try it on your trip recently?? Did you write a trip report for the trip with your mam??

Thanks for reading along :D

Thank you for reading it all! I love finding a completed TR and power reading over a day or two!

It was exhausting but also rewarding.. I'm still undecided on doing another Dopey but we will be doing the Wine&Dine weekend and the Disneyland Paris weekend this year...

My DLP trip report is up, I'm just loading some more photos and hoping to finish this week :D

Ye I think comparing it to water wasn't the most accurate haha

I do think there was something wrong with my own in particular because although it's not my favourite I can drink a Bloody Mary..

Thanks you for reading :D

:D

I've never done a trip report. I did think about it but depends on time.

It was such a short trip (just 5 nights) that we didn't get to spend much time at Disney Springs. We literally did a hit and run the first night to get our free gift certificate that came with our package (had to pick it up from World if Disney), and a quick one on our last night looking for a sweatshirt in my size. I would have happily spent longer, and tried the Poutine (and a million other things) but she was exhausted.

Being a specialty shop I'm sure it's wonderful.

Great TR. I loved reading it and you guys had some amazing photos. Love your "crying" shot in front of the castle. How true. It's so sad to leave it behind.

Thanks for reading lovely x

I thoroughly enjoyed your trip report. This is the second one of yours I've gone all the way through. Maybe I'll check out your videos, too. I love how you do everything there is - even the races!
