OFFICIAL NOVEMBER 2010 THREAD - Let the countdown begin!

Almost there and I still haven't told DD about our trip. Original plan was to tell her on our way to the airport, but I'm still not sure about that. My original thinking was to not tell her so she wouldn't be distracted at school, etc, but she wakes up everyday telling me the countdown to Halloween, so I guess having Disney to look forward to for just a week wouldn't be such a bad thing...

She's 7, do you think there is any benefit to telling her now vs the day of departure?

My DS5 says he wants to be surprised, he knows we are going but will not talk details. My DD8 is so into the countdown, this morning "4 days til Halloween, 10 days until Uncle's wedding and 2 weeks until cruise" she is the offical keeper of time!

Oh OH OH....... how about this .... put together a Disney themed Halloween treat and stick it in her loot bag... so when y'all are going through it after trick-or-treating or whatever she can be like ..."What's this? I don't remember getting this... ?" She opens it up and wham!!! "Surprise!!!! We're going to DISNEY!!!!!"

Of course, that means you get both the surprise and the planning elements with the anticipation of departure.

Just a thought anyways.

Love it - I'm going to put this together for this weekend! She loves scavenger hunts, so this will be the best of all worlds. Plus telling her this weekend will help explain why she has extra homework and needs to take her spelling test early next week.

We surprised her with a cruise trip last Thanksgiving and it didn't go over as well as we'd hoped. We'd stayed in a hotel without a pool and told her the morning of the cruise that we were going over to another hotel for swimming. Then we pulled up to the cruise terminal and told her "I know, lets get on the boat and use their pool!" We'd cruise with her several times before, so at first she was like "Yeah!" but then she got quiet and nervously said "no, we shouldn't do that". I think she thought we were sneaking in and would get in trouble.

She doesn't normally like the longterm countdown, but does seem to like to focus on events that are close. I'm guilty of beating the longterm countdown horse to death, constantly saying "Only 5 more months till ...." and she usually tells me "Mom, just tell me when it's time." Keeping this a secret has been REALLY hard for me.

Thanks all! We'll be on the plane exactly a week from now.

We don't have park hoppers so we are stuck in one park/day. I was thinking MK on 13th and 14th, HS on 15th, Epcot on 16th, and ? for the 17th.
Any ideas on a plan of attack?

Did you check EMH? With the ages of your girls I don't think you will be doing the evening ones however the morning ones should be looked at. Just remember that the parks with morning EMH can get crowded.

Are you thinking of doing AK? I'm not sure if your little ones would appreciate the animals, but I do think they would love Camp Minnie Mickey. We couldn't get our dd7 to leave last time.

For your Epcot day make sure to hit the Kidcot spots, my dd loved making a mask and getting it stamped. And while your dd is working on hers you and DH can take turns exploring the country. (one of you stay with her while the other shops and then switch!)

We are now in the 10 day window, and just completed on-line check in! We will be staying at BWV 7-13 Nov. Never stayed at a deluxe before, we are more All-Stars of SoG types...but we will be with our son, his wife, and our first grandchild, who will be making her first visit to t he World!

We will be doing QSDP because we will be so close to F & W, we figured having those extra snack credits would be the way to go.

Who else will be there 7-13th?

I don't know when y'all are going in NOV but they are bringing in the Jingle Jungle Parade early due to some down time with the regular parade.

It should start up on Nov. 14th I blieve.

Did you know that Duffy the Disney bear will be a new Character at EPCOT. Super Saturation. There will be a new Meet & Greet, they'll have Duffy Bears available for sale, and then in each country, you can buy an outfit themed to that country for your Bear. Duffy if you don't know, seems to be Mickey Mouse's beloved lovey teddy. My DD8 has a book about him. And I heard on WDW News Today podcast that the KIDCOT stations will be rethemed to Duffy crafts. My daughter is SO excited about this.

WooHoo!! Just booked a trip for Nov 18 ~ 23, 2010. Staying at POP. So excited. We are going to MVMCP on the 19th!! I have never booked a trip to DW so close!! I usually have to plan, obsess & plan more

Not sure what the crowds or weather will be.....but I am super excited!!!! Now, I want to see my TICKER!
