October 26 - Spendy day - Not terrible, but still. I had to run to Williams Sonoma to get a knife sharpened, that was free. They get you with the smell of pumpkin quick bread when you walk in the door. So one gluten free pumpkin quick bread, on sale 30% off and wait.....what's this.....a bunch of their food products were 75% off. So three gluten free chocolate, chocolate chip quick breads into the bag. $18.00 later. (Sigh, but yummy)
I didn't spending any other real money shopping, did one exchange, used a credit a BBB to get a curtain rod for DD room.
I did have to buy lunch though, spent $7.00. Bummer, I should plan this ahead and pack. That's my new goal, planning out lunches better so I can take them with me if I need to. I have celiacs, so I must be gluten free. Hard to buy food out anyway. Just have to do some more planning ahead.

No spend plus a free mammogram (Sorry, if that's TMI, but those things are pricey!)

No spend plus a free mammogram (Sorry, if that's TMI, but those things are pricey!)

Not TMI at all, and a great deal. Its funny you should say that because this week I received a bill for $189. for mine that I had in March. :confused3 I was so ticked off....apparently they made a mistake and never billed me back then, and that's my share because of my deductible. Mine wasn't free, but I did call and ask them to reduce it, they gave me 20% off if I paid right then. Okey dokey. Paid bill at a discount. You just never know unless you ask.

We still have quite a bit of meat in the freezer but I really need to get to the grocery to stock up on everything else before I can do much cooking.

On a more positive note-we've had a customer and her four horses (flooding refugees) living here for 2 1/2 months now. It looks like she may be moving back home next week. She has been a very considerate houseguest but it will be nice to be just DH and I again!

I sat down today and did a meal plan for the entire month of November. Let me tell you bob, I am a hard core menu planner now. :cool1:
I am absolutely determined to not only stick to the budget, but try to save a few bucks in order to pay for Thanksgiving out of my regular food budget. It is shaping up to be a small affair with only probably twelve or fourteen people.

I have a budget of $725 for groceries this month. I bought GCs last month because there was a good points deal on them. Since I counted those in last months' spend I won't count anything that comes from there in my buys. Other than that I count everything that isn't a monthly bill or gas. Also all groceries that aren't on those GC.

My goal - 18 no buy days

1. No buy 1/18
2. No buy 2/18
3. No buy 3/18
4. No buy 4/18
5. No buy 5/18
6. Buy - groceries (I got some at a store that I don't have a GC for)
7. Buy - more groceries without the gift card, paid for a field trip for 2 of my kids and a club for one of them
8. Buy - pizza for dinner as DD got her black belt in TKD!
9. No buy 6/18
10. No buy 7/18 (I'm calling this now, since it's Canadian Thanksgiving and nothing will be open)
11. No buy 8/18
12. Buy - few groceries not on a GC
13. Buy - new work pants ($10 - yay!)
14. Buy - new jeans (half price), books
15. Buy - donation to the Computer Museum, pizza
16. No buy 9/18
17. No buy 10/18
18. No buy 11/18
19. Buy - Walmart, Costco
20. No buy 12/18
21. Buy - snacks for movie night, lunch out with DH
22. No buy 13/18
23. No buy 14/18
24. Buy - I burnt my hand and needed something to help me get through the afternoon at work!
25. No buy 15/18
26. Buy - had to pay the duty/GST on my DD's Halloween costume
27. No buy 16/18
28. Buy - groceries
29. Buy - drug store
30. No buy 17/18

I'm pretty sure I don't need anything today, so with any luck I'll make my goal!

Well, I didn't quite make it, but November will be better. I made it in September, missed the mark in October, but I'm hoping to make it for November.
Onward and upward fellow No Buy peeps.

I think I ended October with only 8 no buy days. Ugh. Going to do better in November!!

I made it! 18 no buy days. Here's hoping for another GC promotion that I can stock up on points and decrease OOP spending per month.

I'm very late. Major computer issues here and nobody wants to read anything that I type on my phone. By the time autocorrect gets through with it it will read like either a 70s porn novel or the musings of a seriously disturbed individual.

Target was on my Monday shopping route. Not only do I tend to get sucked into wasting both time and money in the Target vortex, they are evil enough to have a Starbucks inside the store. I am very weak when it comes to temptation so I made a DIY coffee at home to help me resist. I also managed to get in and out quickly and only bought the items on my list. This may not seem like much but it was a budget victory for me.:yay:
