"There are couple of big projects likely on their way to Disney Springs, non- retail/dining.
I can't say anymore at this time, but we likely won't have to wait long for announcements."
He doesn't mention something unless he knows it's true. This makes sense with the announcement of more parking.
I would hope. This sounds like more than that though. Maybe a west side redo? Are we assuming something will finally be announced for DisneyQuest?

I'm thinking Disney quest as well.Something for the Disney Quest site maybe?
Anyone know if there are plans to add another stop for the resort buses - particularly by the Marketplace? Or will the one they have now by Town Center be it? It's incredibly inconvenient if you only want to go to the Marketplace (which describes us). Town Center and Landing look great. They did a nice job as far as design and all...but I have no interest in going to any of those stores. The hike from the bus stop through those areas and to the Marketplace really makes me question if it is worth the trip.
I'm in the same boat...I like the big Disney store and Marketplace, but the rest of the shops, as beautifully designed as they are, hold no interest for me. Some of the restaurants, maybe, but not sure I would make the trek when I'd much rather get a terrific sandwich at Earl of Sandwich....Something for the Disney Quest site maybe?

I like both signs. I think the old one might have been more visible because of the gears and colors but the new one looks clean/concise and the silver background works in my opinion.
I didn't mind the old one but this one pays homage to the original sign and like you said looks clean and more sleek.I like both signs. I think the old one might have been more visible because of the gears and colors but the new one looks clean/concise and the silver background works in my opinion.

I think they are starting to realize that an overpriced shopping mall doesn't draw like they hoped.

It might be too early to draw that kind of conclusion. IIRC the re-theming is not even totally completed, right? I know that at least Planet Hollywood is still in progress. This could have been in the works for a while, and now has the green light because most of the retail/dining stuff is done. Their strategy seems to be to get the retail/dining in first, so that the throngs of people who come for new openings will have plenty of opportunities to spend their money. I don't think it's coincidence that DS is open before Avatar, Toy Story, Star Wars.
I don't have a sense of how busy DS is, or how it is doing financially so this is largely speculation. It just seems more likely to me that they are following part of a long-term plan and moving forward with things that were on the table as options earlier in the process - as opposed to a reactionary decision based on numbers or performance this early.
With the transportation changes, addition of the new parking garage, rumors of characters at World of Disney, and now these new (and rather exciting) rumor, they are positioning themselves to most efficiently funnel cash out of the guest flow that is going to start with the new openings - especially Star Wars. The addition of creative experiences could also have the benefits of making a DS day a "must-do" type of experience, and keep guests away from Universal parks and other local competitors.
I'm excited to follow this as rumors come out about what it will be. I hope I'm not imagining it as something cooler than it will be.

couldnt agree more
all this is in anticipation of the DAK and DHS expansions
My experimence is that town center is crowded...but not particularly enjoyable.
Some good food...but a lot of window shopping type retail.
But both you and I are talking about the "eyeball test"
Here's what they are likely looking at: the receipts. They know if the retail and food is working or if it isn't by now...
...and if it's not - then it's easier to try and make changes now than before the dust settles and they have a PR/STOCK issue to address.
Let me ask you...if it's not working financially...would it be beneficial for them to "wait and let it play out"? Or address it now?
I have no idea...but this is a delicate situation.
