Me and the ‘Rents! - A Sept 2016 PTR - TR Link up!

Okay. I think I found my answer.

It seems like most people aren't exactly sure about what will happen if you use a day on a ticket that isn't one of your FP+ days. But they mostly think that it takes about a day for the system to "refresh" and realize that you have an extra day of FP+s scheduled. So, as long as you add days right away it seems like it won't be an issue.

That's what I would like to do - just give it a whirl and see what happens. Our last day is MK though so....hmmm. I just realized that. I was thinking that AK was our last day. I don't know why I thought that. I'm going to have to think more about this.

This is assuming, of course, that things don't change with the hours at AK. I think I should maybe just do my FP+ as I originally thought and then as we get closer if the hours change, I can adjust.

Robo also said that not all the CMs will know to "price bridge" the tickets. We'll have to look up prices and know exactly what we should be paying. And if we don't get the right answer, go to the next CM at Guest Services. I hope it just works right away and we don't have to some how find a different CM to do it.

He also said that sometimes the CM in the ticket window outside of the park will be able to "price bridge" before you go in. And sometimes they won't. That would be handy because we would for sure not lose our FP+s that way.

Always something....

71 Days to Go!

Hello! :wave:And a special shout out to any lurkers out there! I am one of you!

I think I've figured out what I'm going to do for my FP+ situation. I'm going to go with the 7 days I have scheduled out. I'll not be scheduling out one of our AK days and just do that when we add the (at least) one extra day to our tickets. Then I'll see what happens to the AK park hours. If they don't extend past 8pm, then we'll go to AK on our first Sunday and ride EE in the dark!! I may cancel our other AK day FP+s before going into the park on Sunday or I may take our chances. I don't know, I'll figure it out when we get there.

Of course, this all could be solved by Disney extending the hours and having Rivers of Light be showing and awesome!!

giphy.gif

I'm not holding my breath, though. Geez, I'd die for sure.

Sooooooo. Now......

I am confirmed for another trip this coming Spring!!

giphy.gif

Hooray!!!

This trip will be with my DMIL because my DH is a party pooper. Wellllll, not exactly but kinda. I wanted to take his parents to WDW and he said, I don't want to go, why don't you just take my mom?"

Hmmmm....I could do that. His mom and I get along pretty well. I've worked really hard over the years to make it that way. It's not that she didn't really like me in the beginning, I think that she thought he might be making a mistake marrying me. Which sounds like she didn't like me, right?? Actually, it wasn't personal. Since DH and I were high school sweethearts, she thought that we both were maybe settling instead of looking around and making sure. But the thing is that DH and I went to separate colleges and we actually broke up for awhile and dated other people. Then we got back together and got married a few years after college. So, it's not like we jumped into a hasty wedding when we were 18 but she's funny like that sometimes.

Like I said, we're all good now and we get along great. It's a testament to the idea that you get out what you put in. I am incredibly fortunate that she is open and willing to growing our relationship - I know that not all in-laws are like that!

I am super stoked to be bringing her back to WDW. The last time they were there was some time in the late 80s/early 90s. So this is going to be fun! I can't wait to show off my World!

Now, this puts me in another quandary (fun word!) about tickets. Should I be getting an AP?????

I want one, really badly!!!

But this shouldn't be an emotional decision. Right?

Riiiiiiight??????

Soooo....let's go over the math.

Yay, math!

I bought my 7 day base ticket for $352.

I will be (hopefully!) be bridging my ticket and buying, let's assume, two more days. And let's assume that prices aren't going to go up - or at least the ratio of a 7 day ticket vs a 9 day ticket is going to stay the same.

(I just went out to the Disney website and the front page is a beautiful picture of my Kidani. <sigh> So pretty!)

I'll be paying $21 for the two extra days. (Not bad!)

So, in the end, I'll have paid $373 for a 9 day ticket.

When I go in the Spring, again, assuming that prices don't go up (they will), I will most likely get a 5 day ticket, which is $362.

Grand total: $735 (yikes!)

An AP (right now) is $798. A difference of $63.

Which really isn't a lot in the grand scheme of a Disney trip but is also a lot when you just consider it in real life.

Now, the AP comes with Park Hopping and the memory maker. Which means that I can use it on this trip and the next trip, I believe. However, wasn't planning on the Park Hopping or the memory maker so while this is something to consider, it isn't quite the tipping point.

There also may be AP room only discounts that could be worth it. Or there could not be any discounts. There are also various other discounts that I may or may not use.

However, I'm seriously considering it. Especially if Disney is going to raise prices again come Dec, that $63 might dramatically drop. I might be willing to bet that I could get $63 more dollars of savings (not including the PH or MM) somewhere along the next two trips.

What do you think?

64 Days to Go!!

I would say buy one! I did (although we're doing a few more trips in a year). Memory maker is awesome, and now you'll have the option of parkhopping. You'll also get food, hotel, and shopping discounts.

Thanks for the support, Raeven! I'm going to do it. I think I can get at least $63 worth of stuff from it. Plus, I get to cross "Get AP" from my Disney Wish List!

Looks like you have some really cool trips planned! Are you adding any Disney days to your May 2017 DCL trip?

Oh and a What Up! to another gluten-free-er: What up, Josh!

Look what my mom found for me to wear!

1-20160704_120427.jpg

It's perfect for our stay at AKL!! It's slightly big but I think that will work out well in the Sept heat. Now I just need to find a white sports bra for underneath.

You may also have noticed that she found me some *ahem* Lion King underwear to go with it. Not that anyone else would know - but I would!

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

1-20160703_142331.jpg

I'm exhausted today. Yesterday, we had everyone over for a grill-out and lawn games. We spent the last several days getting ready. It's good to entertain every once in awhile so you clean stuff that you normally don't clean. Like the refridgerator. And I don't mean just going through everything in there. I completely took EVERYTHING out. Including shelves. And washed everything. Well, not the food. That would be silly. I was pretty horrified at how dirty it was in the corners. Those pesky little corners that you don't see until you pull out the crisper and all the shelves. Eeek!

Moral of the story - clean more often. Pretend people are coming over.

I wish that worked. I really hate house work but I like a clean house. Even so, it's hard to force myself to do deep cleaning sometimes without sufficient motivation. I need a maid.

Lots of cleaning and everyone staying late last night and us staying up even later after = tired Jenna. I got invited to a Twins game but I would like to just relax at home before fireworks tonight. Which means I'm here! With you! Hooray!

I've definitely decided on the AP - yeah!! It's on my Disney Wish List so bonus! Since I'm just hanging about waiting for my FP+ to open (TOMORROW!), I thought I would list out my Disney Wishes (in no particular order):

1. AP (this trip!)
2. Go for 10 days+ (this trip!)
3. See WWoHP (this trip!)
4. Volunteer at GKTW (this trip!)
5. Go during the Christmas Season
6. Stay at every resort
7. Stay Club Level somewhere
8. Do something extra special each trip (Dine with an Animal Specialist this trip!)
9. Go to the Christmas Party
10. Spend an actual birthday at WDW
11. Celebrate my 40th with family and friends at WDW
12. Visit Tokyo DisneySea
13. Ride EE at night (this one is hard because AK always closes early when we're there)
14. Do a RunDisney event (if they bring back something fun like the Expedition Everest Challenge)
15. Experience Stormalong Bay
16. Go on an Adventures by Disney trip
17. Four Parks in a Day!
18. One day I want to try the TouringPlans all attractions in a day challenge - whew!!!!
19. Eat at Victoria and Albert's
20. See the Kiss Goodnight

A lot of my list is very attainable. There are a few that are harder. And actually, one I didn't put on my list because it is extremely unlikely and I wanted my list to be at least in the realm of attainability - stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite. Wow. That would be so incredibly amazing, I just can't even say. And very very unlikely. Unless I become super famous. Which is totally possible, right????

Riiiiiight.

I'll just be over here holding my breath for that one.

Thunk.

That's me hitting the floor, passed out for lack of oxygen and famous-ness.

Anyway, tomorrow is FP+ day. Well, tomorrow MORNING is FP+ day. I'm a little peeved that it isn't in the evening anymore. I am definitely a night person vs a morning person. And 11pm CT is no problem. Well, I suppose tonight it might have been a problem. I'm not sure what time we normally get home from fireworks. Not that 6am CT is too much of a problem either, really, it's just that I don't like to get up any earlier than I have to. And 6am is earlier than I have to. I would actually prefer it to be even earlier than 6am because then I could just go back to sleep. Maybe I'll just be a good girl and go in early to work.

I know, I know. Good one, right?

Well, I'll see you on the flip side - post-FP+! Here is what we are going for:

Monday - EP PM

Oh and a What Up! to another gluten-free-er: What up, Josh!

Thank you! And yes we're going to Disney and Universal for a few days after the cruise.

I want to do four parks in one day too, and Josh wanted to do Dine with An Animal Specialist for his birthday. We've already scheduled it, but I don't know when we're doing 4 parks. I said having the Ap would be the time to do it!

You can do a show for the 3rd fp in HS that's what I did last year.

I’m 34, almost 35, btw. Married. No children. A cat. Named Sirius Black. He’s black. We love Harry Potter. So…yeah, Sirius Black.

Hi!! I love your cat's name. For years I wanted a black cat to name Sirius Black. But when it came time to adopt our kitten, I fell in love with a grey tabby in the litter (there was a black one too, but the grey one and I bonded)....so i picked the grey tabby, and named him Dumbledore :cat: (also a huge Harry Potter fan lol)

Your trip sounds like it will be so much fun. Good luck with fast pass booking tomorrow. I'll be interested to hear how easy/hard it will be for your FEA FP's. That is my current concern :scared:

Whew! I was worried there - we did DCL for our honeymoon and it was HARD not going to Disney World. Even though we were on a Disney cruise and it was awesome and very Disney, it still wasn't my World!

An AP is the time to do it (free PH! Well, not exactly free...but you know what I mean). And if you just schedule out your favorite rides at each park and maybe end with EMH at your favorite park in the evening, I think it could be a really fun day! Oooooo, and you would have to get your photo in front of each park icon to commemorate the day!

We could do a show. It seems like a waste of a FP since the shows aren't that crowded anyway. However, we don't really have a FP for anything else and if I want to just get one to get one, I probably wouldn't be taking anything away from someone who wanted one. Good point, Raeven.

Awwwww. Dumbledore. Cuuute! I wish that Sirius and Dumbledore could meet but, unfortunately unlike his namesake, Sirius is a scaredy cat and is frightened of strangers and traveling. Any time we have company, we give him some calming food. We call it his pot food. Then he's totally mellow, man. It doesn't stop him from hiding or being afraid, he's just not quite as upset as usual.

I think we should be good with FEA because I'm planning on it for our second week. But our first park day is EP, about 3 days in and I will be checking to see what is available that day too. Just for giggles and curiosity. I'll report back what I find. My concern is if we do get a FP, the lines when we get there. It looks like the FP line is crazy long, too. I know my dad will not be cool with that. We are so spoiled going in Sept. We had a 30min Living with the Land line two years ago and he was not having it. :rotfl: In his defense, though, Living with the Land should not have that long a wait in Sept. And the posted wait time was 15min. And the queue is all in the open and back and forth back and forth. I don't know if it is FP+ or it's the spill over from Soarin' but I've heard that, in general, the Living with the Land wait times have been up.

Yeah it's a shorter cruise because it's our first, but it's also for my birthday and I couldn't do my birthday without going to the parks too. My birthday is in June though (cruise is in May), and if we went in June we were thinking of just doing a cruise, but May turned out to be cheaper and the crowds are lower so we get to go to the parks too!

Yes good idea about the park icons!

I FPed the Frozen Singalong the first time we went. It was decently long so if you need an air conditioning break that's a good one. It does kind of feel like a waste to use it on a show, but we'll probably do that too because I don't know what else there is to pick.

Our wizard kitties would be BFFs!! pixiedust::cat::cat:pixiedust:lol. Awww poor Sirius!! I'm glad he has his pot food though, I wish there was a way to reason with cats so they wouldn't be afraid. Dumbledore is good with people, but doesn't like dogs. He met the neighbours once very briefly and his tail puffed up, he crouched down super low, mowkawk hair, and then ran. He would probably like other cats though.

That's smart to book FEA your second week, pretty much guarantees you will get it. Our plan is to book it first for our last day. I love that September is a lower crowd season too, and having to wait in any line over 20 minutes makes me angry. So spoiled lol. I remember walking onto Living with the Land a few Septembers ago, so I completely agree with your Dad. But it seems that Septembers in general are just getting busier

Well I hope your FP selection went well this morning!!!

It's done!

And I'm tiiiiiiiiired!

Soooo not a morning person. Especially after two late nights in a row. Here I am this morning, waiting for the window to open:

13567101_10210357988525266_3254673901477841942_n.jpg

But I basically got what I wanted!

I was able to do FP for my entire stay starting at the Swan reservation through our DVC points rental reservation. Everything was linked in MDE and ready to go.

It took a little bit to work through the new system. Last time I had done FP+ was in 2014 and it looked different then. I felt like there were more mouse clicks this time and I didn't like that there wasn't really a place to modify your FPs right after confirming them. You would have to get out, look at your list and modify from there. Before, after confirming your FP, there would be your list of FPs and you could modify on the spot.

I did like that I could just click on View available times and see everything that was available for the day. At least, I think it was everything. However, it would have been nice if they grayed out the times that you couldn't take because you had an overlapping FP. A couple of times I had a 5min overlap that I didn't realize until it gave me an error.

It took me about 30min to do 7 days worth of FPs and then to modify one of the days at the end. And that was with most of us doing the same thing every day. There was just one day and one FP where Mom has one and Dad and I have another one. I can only imagine if you have a lot of FPs all over the place that it would take even longer.

As predicted, Frozen Ever After put a bit of a wrench in my plans but not too much. I went straight to my second EP day, 12 days into my FP window. There weren't any times available for the morning. The earliest was 11:25am. (I looked later and 11:20am had popped up.) I wondered if they aren't starting FP right away in the morning or if people had longer stays than me and got all the morning ones already. I also checked my second EP day, which was three days into my window - Labor Day - and there were only afternoon times available, about 10 of them. This is all for a party of 3. I checked again at the end of my half hour and the same times were still available for both of my EP days.

I just checked now (9:30am, 3-1/2 hours after the window opened) and about 8 times are available on Labor Day and lots of times left on my second EP day, the 14th. I actually just switched my 11:25am FEA for 11:15am. I know it's not much of a difference but I see if I can start creeping up. So I wonder if it must be that all the morning times are gone. Can anyone confirm an earlier than 11am FP+ arrival time for FEA?

Here is what I ended up with vs what I wanted:

Monday, 5th - EP PM
2:05pm TT (2pm)
3:05pm SE (3pm)
4:05pm The Seas (4pm)

Tues, 6th - MK AM
10:10am 7DMT (10am)
1:00pm Space (1pm)
2:25pm Splash (2pm)

Thurs, 8th - HS AM

10:05am ToT (10am)
12:00pm Frozen Singalong (Mom) (11am)
12:10pm Star Tours (Dad and me) (11am)
1:25pm TSMM (1pm)

Sat, 10th - HS PM
3:00pm Muppets (throwaway)
4:05pm TSMM (4pm)
5:10pm ToT (5pm)

Sun, 11th - AK AM
10:25am EE (10am)
1:05pm KS (1pm)
2:30pm Kali (2pm)

Tues, 13th - AK PM
Have to get FP+ later when we add another ticket

Weds, 14th - EP AM
9:50am Character Spot (1pm)
11:15am FEA (9:30am)
2:00pm SE (11am)
You can really see that FEA messed up my day

Thurs, 15th - MK PM
12:00pm ETwB (12pm)
2:05pm Pirates (2pm)
8:00pm 7DMT (8pm) - I want to ride it in the dark!

Not bad at all, really. I'm still going to be checking the FEA times to get something earlier. I know that we'll probably be in line for a long time even with FP+ so I would like to have it earlier. Especially since it's over lunchtime and I get hangry!

I really feel like I'm done for the day. Can you tell my boss that I've already done a lot of work and I should just go home now? Somehow, I don't think that's going to fly.

Oh well, just gotta push through. Hopefully no one wants anything super important today...

60 Days to Go!!

Well I hope your FP selection went well this morning!!!

Thank you!! I love FP day and I don't like it. LOL! I love the milestone and I love locking in our times but I don't love the stress and the nervousness as I try and guess what we'll be doing two months out! I want it both ways - I want to be able to lock in my must-do rides but I also want to be able to wait until I get there to see how it's going to work into my schedule. Just give me an unlimited FP band, that would be great! :genie:

I bet that you'll get it if you do it right away. Even four hours after the window, there was still availability for the 3rd day into our vacation.

Good luck!!

Yay you got your Fastpasses! I wanted to ride FEA in the afternoon on our trip so hopefully it'll be easy to get.

I still have 2 weeks and 2 days till my FP day! Our trip starts right after yours ends, but we're in Universal first.

I'm sure you'll have no problem getting what you want. :goodvibes

That's true fastpasses are always easier than Adrs at least. I just want the day to come because then we'll be under 60 days till our trip :cheer2:

Hi Jenna! :wave2: I clicked on your PTR link from your post on my PTR :teleport:

Your trip sounds amazing! 12 days!! I'm so jealous. I have so many of the same wish list items that you do, I'm trying to knock the "stay at every resort list" Off one by one but I think I'm making a huge mistake staying at all the deluxe resorts first, I may never want to go back to a value :rolleyes1

I think you'll like upgrading to the AP, I just did on my latest trip in June( wish list item for me too) and just having the 10% discount alone on merchandise was completely worth it. Plus you get an AP Magic band!:cloud9:

Love your cat's name, I'm a huge HP fan also. I also have a black cat but his name is Angus. He's black, his name is Angus. He's black Angus...mooooo :rotfl2:

I'm not sure you'll find an earlier FP+ time for FEA. Doesn't world showcase not technically open until 11:00? I think Future World opens first for a couple of hours and then WS typically at 11:00.

Sounds like you've got an awesome trip lined up!

Kelly

Hi Kelly! Thanks for stopping by!!

I knowww! I'm cringing a little at the thought of staying at the All-Stars. I'm thinking maybe a night at the beginning of a trip. I've already stayed at Pop. Twice now. It was nice. Everything was a bit loud: the Everything Pop area, the pool, the decorations. :upsidedow Both times our room was farther away and that was a good thing because it was really quiet. I'm also a bit leery about AoA. I've visited and walked the halls and we were able to see in to a few of the rooms while they were being cleaned and they are also LOUD in terms of theming. Loved the pool areas and the main building but the rooms are a bit much for me. I totally get how people would get a kick out of it but I prefer a bit more subtle in my Disney magic. So maybe just one night here too. And, if you do it that way, you knock down two resorts in one trip!

It's also hard because I really like to go back to the resorts that I love! Like POR and AKL! I'll never get through my list at that rate!! :sad2:

I think you'll like upgrading to the AP, I just did on my latest trip in June( wish list item for me too) and just having the 10% discount alone on merchandise was completely worth it. Plus you get an AP Magic band!:cloud9:

That is hilarious!! Technically Sirius is a dog (in the books) and a dog star (constellation), soooo yeah. I have a dog cat!

That is a good point. I guess I was thinking that if Akershus was open, they would just open the whole pavilion but that makes sense. More sense than what I was thinking. :rolleyes1 Don't mind me, I truly have been to Epcot before....

Hellooo!!!

Just a quick update. I've been having so much fun reading through everyone's PTRs - especially those going in Sept. It's really starting to feel real and close, right??

I can also tell because I'm starting to have clothes anxiety. It's absolutely ridiculous. I KNOW this. I try to talk myself off the ledge but no. My brain refuses to listen. I guess I should be clearer; it's actually a packing anxiety but what do you pack the most of? Clothes. Everything else is straight forward. Sunscreen? Easy. Toothbrush? Easy. Sunglasses? Easy. PJs? Easy. Clothes? Ehhhhh...which ones do I pack?? What should I wear?? Which ones are going to make me look ridiculous?? What if it rains?? What if it's warm outside (it will be) and it's freezing while I'm sitting at dinner (it will be)??

And this is really nuts for me to feel like this because I'm not a huge clothes person and I don't generally worry about my appearance too much. But at my favorite place in the world with lots of pictures I want to look my best. And be comfortable. Which stresses me out.

I'm a crazy person.

So, I usually turn to my sister and she helps me pick out clothes and we take pictures so I can vet all my options. Thank goodness for sisters!!!

If I can gather most of my clothes together by a week or two before my trip, I should be fine. Or if I can find all Disney clothes, it'll be no sweat!

Anyway this was supposed to be a quick update!

The actual REASON I'm posting is that I made another ADR after reading through some TRs and PTRs:

Sci-Fi Drive in Theater!

I wanted to just check it out and maybe have an appetizer late lunch. (I truly am trying to save a little money with food but I keep making ADRS. :sad2: Oh well!) Well...the only opening on our first HS day is at 3pm. So I booked it though I would like an earlier reservation. I also looked at the allergy menu and there isn't a lot for my GF/DF mom to choose from. Hopefully we'll be able to talk to a chef and get something good.

I've heard mixed reviews from here but I would like to give it a try for myself and I think my dad would get a kick out of it. Last year, at our state fair, there was something similar with seats and old B movies playing in a food booth. He thought it was great! Hopefully, he'll feel the same way about Sci-fi. This is also going to be a little surprise for them.

So far we have Sci-fi and the Yachtsman are surprises. Also, we're going to do Behind the Seeds which I discussed with them but I'm sure they've forgotten so that will be a surprise too! :lmao:

It's all really coming together!!
