Laura and James' SEPT 2011 Planning journal!! Updates 15th Jan

the StDs look great :goodvibes

ahh thanks! I was really pleased how they turned out! Just need to think of an idea that will trump the STDs for our invites!

I was thinking of doing something different for our invites but can't think of an idea yet. I thought perhaps getting everyone a Disney DVD with the invite inside but its a little pricey!

Well just thought I would let you all know whats going on!

Bad News- (Its always best to start with this i think) I have been made redundant for the second time in three years! So trying to find a replacement job quickly so I can bank my redundancy pay into the wedding fund!

Good News- Last night we looked at the websites for all the officiants that Disney sent us and we have decided on Rev. Randal Miller! James was pretty much going on the look of the officiants as he didn't want someone creepy looking!:rotfl: We both liked the look of him as he seemed really normal! Then after picking him I checked on the boards and everyone seems to sing his praises so feel happy with our choice.

Just got to cross our fingers that he can do it!

Other updates- I have 7lbs to go before I am going to try on dresses! Gave myself a target but this isn't my final target! I am so excited I can't wait!

Been looking at making Mickey head programs but I am clueless as to how I'm going to make these without them looking like a child made them! I am tempted on just buying them from impressions!

I am sorry to hear that your position has been made redundant - I hope that you find something really soon!

Congrats on booking rev. Miller. I have heard a lot of good things about him so you should be really happy with your choice!

There are some threads around the boards on how to make the mickey head programs - they have some really valuable information. I personally used a cricut to cut out my fan shapes as well as my letters, but I have also heard of people using circle cutters to do so. There are lots of people willing to help around here, and it is so much cheaper to do it yourself! I think I paid around 20$ for all of the paper, the ribbon was cheap, and got the sticks from the dollar store. I have heard that it costs hundreds of dollars to get them made. That was a bit long winded, sorry, but hopefully it helps you out!

I'm sorry to hear about your job, I hope you find something soon!

I've heard Rev Miller is great, I'm sure you'll be very happy with him.

Congrats on the weight loss and for sticking to your goal. Dress shopping is so much fun, I wish I had gone to a few more stores. Not because I don't love my dress, but because it was fun to get all dressed up.

I'm using a cricut to make mine. It cuts everything out perfectly. I'm also using it for our table names and escort cards. It is expensive, but I figured I would have spent about that on the fans alone if I had them made and I get to keep the cricut and use it for scrapbooking later on.

You could really get the smaller one that uses 8.5x11 paper since that's the size you'll need for the fans, it is much cheaper. I have the Expression which is 12x12 but honestly do not really need that size for the wedding stuff, but for scrapbooking it'll probably be good. I've also heard that Michael's sometimes has them in their craft room where they hold classes, and maybe if you asked they'd let you use it.

Yesterday James finally took a step towards planning for our wedding and purchased his suit!!!!!!!!

We went with his dad shopping about a month ago with his dad to get an idea of what he wanted to wear. Typical jammy james managed to find his suit in the first shop we went into and it fit- this would never happen for me!

The suit was in Jaegar and was in their sale, it was reduced from £600 to £360! James at the time thought it was a big purchase especially with my job situation and so we left it. Well yesterday he went back in the shop and lo and behold the suit was further reduced by £110 so £250 altogether! Well we both thought this was too good to pass up and so he bought it!

The link is for the Jacket but he's got the matching trousers too! He's going to wear a pink shirt with it and possibly a tie if i can persuade him!

Being out of work gives you a lot of time to think about stuff that work gets in the way of! Thankfully I have a wedding to organise so I can put my time to good use!

So here are a few plans:

Colour Scheme- Bright Pink and Lime Green

Favours -This idea totally belongs to Raspberry Bubbles but I think it would be a cute Disney addition. We are going to get the mickey heads dipped in our guest's favourite chocolate and toppings. I'm going to have to come up with a cunning idea so they don't get tipped off when I try to find out their favourites!

Going with the colour scheme we will get pink and green ribbons and design our stickers through vista print

James had a very good idea the other day for our wedding- came as a complete shock! He suggested in between our ceremony and reception that we could rent surrey bikes or boats. Now reading the boards i have heard that the bikes can be a bit of a workout so boats it is!

As there will be around 17 of us we will probably get two of these

And thanks to Lurkyloo's knowledge we will also organise some refreshments from private dining at the yacht and beach club! As there will be two boats I thought James could go in one (he's well xcited about driving the boat) and me in the other and the guests can be split between the boats!

Love the favours!!
Are you going to have them made up when you get to Orlando and just take the ribbon and stickers with you or have you found somewher in the Uk who can do them?

going to get them from goofys when we arrive and just bring over the ribbons, stickers etc and make them up the day before! saves traveling with extra weight and no need to worry about them getting damaged traveling. The stickers will have their names on so they will act as place settings too

Great idea with the boats, and your colour scheme is gorgeous :)

thanks! my DF can be useful sometimes. When i started planning our disney wedding i knew i wanted the bright pink rose bouquet- my love for them started with Lynn and Tim's wedding. I started to worry that it would be a really girly pink wedding so i needed to find something that would give it a more manly edge hence the green!

Just joining your PJ. Look forward to more planning!

thanks for joining! Wish I had more to update everyone with but trying not to book anything until i get another job! Me and DF decided we would postpone the wedidng to sept 2012 if i don't get a job by December 1st!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Your well wishes work because I am back in employment people!!!! I am now an administrator at the head office for an estate agents.

As I have a job the wedding is good to go and it looks like we will be booking our holiday on saturday which I am super excited about. Due to flight availability we will have to travel on the 7th! We have our cruise booked on the 22nd so we have a night without somewhere to stay but thanks to lurkyloo's knowledge we won't have to worry as we will have enough nights booked to qualify for a free night!!:cheer2::cheer2:

Well its finally official, we have booked our holiday! Yipee

We will be flying out on the 7th September staying at the Beach club for 15 nights and then going on a 3 night Disney Cruise

I am so pleased that we have booked as it is a big weight off my mind.

In a bid to get the wedding ball rolling, I contacted our future officiant Rev Randal Miller. He emailed back within a few hours saying that the date is free!

It seems that I have waited ages not being able to do anything bu now its starting to feel real.We all know Christmas creeps up on us really quickly and before I know it will be January and I will be able to book the wedding!

Next on the to do list:

- Lose 5 pounds so I can finally start dress shopping!!!!!
