I'm doing online Kids' Club registration for our cruise next week. There isn't an option for pre-registering my 12-year-old. Am I missing something or does he not need to be registered?

That's correct, you can't do it online. You can either register him in the terminal or onboard [usually not as crowded]. It will require you to designate who can check him in/out or if you will let him do that on his own, as well as a password for him to be checked out with if by an adult.
You won't actually take care of the kids checkin at the terminal check-in counter when you check in for the cruise. There are tables set up at the far right corner of the terminal where you can check the kids in for the club or lab with the Youth CMs.
I have heard that concierge will take care of that for you in the concierge lounge onboard. Have not seen anyone post that they took care of it at the concierge checkin counter.
Ok. Thank you. We don't have a lounge as we are on the Magic. Sooo...I am going to assume I need to head to another line then after check in. Wish they would get it right when you call. It is the 3rd time I have asked them something and it turns out the real answer is different then what they have told me! It's like when you call WDW and they say your connected rooms are "absolutely guaranteed". But they really aren't!
In all honesty, unless the line at the terminal is short and you have nothing else to do, skip it until you are onboard. You likely plan to go check out the club during open house that afternoon anyway, and it's real quick/easy to do then. The line at the terminal is SLOW and you miss out on characters or looking at the model of the Magic or whatever else you could do before boarding.
Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for all the input. I was just confused when I was able to pre-register one child and not the other. Maybe I'm just not ready for him to be so grownup... Lol!
