Just Let the Man Propose Already! An Engagement Trip Report-Final Thoughts, 2/23!

:yay: on your DF agreeing to honeymoon at Poly!!! I cry too on our last day or the way home. Leaving Disney is hard :sad2: isn't it? Love your pictures! Since T Rex is loud I don't think I'll even bother making a ressie for there. Looking foward to the last day, but sad it is ending.

Lauren, as excited I am to be staying at BCV (and as much as I love that my dad was able to trade in for it....) Part of me is SUPER sad that I'm not staying at Poly.... I know it's dumb, but I have always wanted to stay there. And now that we're DVC, I probably never will stay at Poly (it's not on the trader... maybe someday!)

Oh well I'm just lucky enought o own at contemporary, I suppose.

How are you doing with all the wedding stuff? I am already ready to be married, done and mentally checked out with the planning!!!!

You are SO lucky to have DVC! That is my dream, and BCV is beautiful so you are going to have an amazing honeymoon. We stayed BWV last year but got to use the BCV pool when ours was closed and I fell in love with how pretty it was over there! And the walk to Epcot/DHS is so nice too.

Now that i have the dress, reception site, church, and my dj all set I'm taking a wedding planning break. I will resume in May when I finish grad school...actually make that June when we get back from Disney! :lmao: How are your plans coming? Any new updates? Your wedding is SO soon it's so exciting!!!!

You should do a PTR for your trip with your mom! It is never too early to start and since your TR is ending too I wanna hear your plans for the next trip!! popcorn::

I like the Poly too and would love to stay there someday!

Your peanut butter cookie sounds so yummy! Goofy's Candy Co. might be my favorite place in all of WDW! :lmao: I love those make your own treats!

Excited to hear about the end of your trip, but sad it's almost over!

When I was younger I dreamed of a honeymoon in Hawaii...but I just love Disney so much, and I figure staying at Poly is having the best of both worlds! You have a trip to Hawaii coming up don't you?!

Goofy's was amazing, I want to make a rice crispy treat with a snack credit this year :)

I'm sad too, but stay tuned for my PTR!!

Yes, as a fellow Poly lover you know how excited I am!! Leaving is so hard but knowing that I have a June trip and our honeymoon helped (a little!) I'm such a crier in general, but I'm the worst when I'm leaving Disney.

I wanted to try TRex before, but after being there for 5 mins I had to leave and I don't think we'll ever eat there, too overstimulating! If it was too much for me, I can't imagine how it would be for your little Thomas's ears!!

Haha. I thought the same thing about Poly! We're going to Hawaii in June. It's my dream vacation. I have wanted to go for as long as I can remember.

The rice crispy treats at Goofy's are so good!!

Make sure you leave a link here for your PTR so we can find it once you start it!

Ahhh I'm so jealous that you are going to Hawaii. What are your plans??

I will definitely post the link to my PTR as soon as it is started, and it will be quite soon I think!

Glad to hear you like WL. I just came back 2 days ago after staying at the WL for 7 days. That lobby is just breathtaking. Because of the high ceiling and space, not to mention all the neutral color from the log and stone, it is extremely difficult to take picture in that lobby. I have tried everything including a powerful flash and it still comes out crappy or too yellow. The only way to take pictures in that lobby, IMO, is shoot it during day time with a tripod.

Here are a few of my newer shots from last week's visit.

Oh wow I love those pictures! Thank you for sharing them! Your camera does a great job. I'm glad to hear that other people had trouble getting good shots in the lobby. I thought it was just me, I know my camera isn't the best, but it takes decent pictures most of the time and it was so tricky to get one in there so I know what you mean!

I hope you had a great trip, you are so lucky you were at WL, it's just gorgeous! Thanks for reading!! :)

I really enjoyed your report... and am excited that you are planning to honeymoon at the Poly! I think that resort is beautiful, someday I hope we stay there!
Looking forward to the last day and your summer trip plans!

Thank you so much! I'm excited too, I cannot wait to book it! Poly is so beautiful, I hope you get to experience it someday :)

Another update and part one of the PTR are coming up soon, thanks for reading!

Well, I was going to stall writing up the last day, but I decided to just go for it. It's like a band-aid...rip it off quick and it won't hurt as much :lmao:

That last morning, Jan. 11th, we woke up around 8 because our resort had a ridiculous check out time of 10am. We tried to eat up the last of our breakfast food. This included Krispy Kreme donuts, which we bought a lot of this week and I miss dearly. You can only find them at two places in Connecticut. Oneof them is inside a casino. Nope, I'm not kidding :rotfl:

Anyways, we finished packing and we put on bathing suits because we planned on spending the day by the pool. Each of us threw a change of clothes for the airport in a giant Disney bag for later. And a sweatshirt for later too...because CT is cold :sad1:

The pool was wonderful. We went to the River Island section of Orange Lake again and floated around the lazy river.

We got lunch at the poolside snack window. I got three measly chicken fingers...boy I was already missing Disney food! So I decided to supplement my crappy lunch with my cookie from Goofy's at DTD around lunch time. It was so good! I'm definitely making more treats there next time.

We laid around in the sun for a few more hours after lunch. Here is my dad... and my hot looking DF with a t-shirt on and towel over his head. We burn easy

Oh man he is gonna love me for posting that one!!

Now, this week was unusually warm for January, even by FL standards. It had been 80-85 most of the time. I am an avid sunscreen wearer because I have the fairest of skin and don't love the idea of skin cancer. But this day I somehow forgot the sunscreen?? Ughh! So I looked like a lobster...and felt like a cooked one by 3pm when we went to change. Let's just say the jeans did not feel so great on my legs. :headache:

At that point it was time to head to MCO. We returned the rental car and got to security quickly...but if you recall, DD had no license due to a forgotten wallet, so he had some explainin to do to the manager. It took him awhile to get through, they weren't as nice as the people from our local airport, but eventually we made it.

The wait for the flight was uneventful. We got some dinner, I picked up my very first bridal magazine to read on the plane :yay: and we board on time. Then, just as I settle in, get comfy and buckle my seat belt, the captain calls over the loud speaker: Sorry for the inconvenience folks, but this plane is missing a part and we have to have it flown in from Atlanta. It's gonna be a three hour delay. :scared1:

Ughhh, we take all our crap and head back to the now chaotic gate. Ten minutes later they announced that they would be putting us on a different plane that was on its way in from NYC...but that would take just as long was waiting for the part from Atlanta. Oh lordie. The kicker was, our new flight would be getting in around midnight. That means we get home around 1am. And DF had to be BACK at the airport to leave for a business trip in NC the next morning by 4am. I was his ride. Yay, no sleep for Lauren this night! Yikes.

I tried to remain calm. DB talked the airline into giving us food vouchers so that took the edge off. But still not the best way to end the trip!

We eventually got on the plane, but after no real apology from the airline. But my mood improved as I thought of the wedding planning I could start to do and all the people I still had to tell about our engagement, so going home wasn't so horrible after all.

We got home safely, and here is one "person" who is very happy that we were home...my cat Zima! Who promptly hopped right into my empty suitcase as if to say "you will never leave without me again!"
n9008981_38888545_9287.jpg

I collapsed into bed that night and took a brief snooze before driving DF back to the airport. I was so sad to see him go after such a great trip and coming off our new engagement, plus all I wanted to do was sprint inside the terminal and hop onto the next plane to back Orlando! But alas, I'll have to wait for June to visit the World again...

So that brings us to the end of the trip! All in all I had an amazing time, we made some amazing memories and I cannot wait to go back.

But don't go anywhere yet...I'll be back asap to post some final thoughts and a link to my PTR for our June trip. But first....

I just want to say a BIG thank you to all of my Disfriends and loyal readers! Writing this report was SO fun, but you guys made it great!! I love all your comments and kind words, and I hope you follow me as I write about my next Disney adventure :grouphug:

How awesome that you guys will be staying at the Poly for your honeymoon! It really is a beautiful resort. :goodvibes

We've never even gone into Goofy's Candy Store (or whatever it's called). I'm not a huge candy person (although I do love me some chocolate and I'm a peanut butter addict). But, I think we may have to get something on this trip. :thumbsup2

I have very sensitive skin too and almost like a sun allergy. I can be out for like 10 minutes (even in the winter sun) and begin to itch. I hate it. That's a big part of why I can't handle going to Florida in the summer months.

That stinks about your flight home being delayed!

I can't wait for you to start your June PTR. :)

Awwwwwww... what a great TR Lauren. Now bring on the PTR!

Thank you! It will be up by the weekend, I promise! :goodvibes

Goofy's Candy Company is amazing...they have so much stuff, I'm sure you could find something you love! Your boys will go nuts in there!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one with crazy sensitive skin! I'm sorry you have such a bad reaction, that does not sound fun!

PTR comin up soon! Thanks for reading

Awww...I'm so sad it's over!

The resort pool and lazy river look really nice!

That sucks that you had to wait so long at the airport.

I can't wait to read about your next trip!

I'm sad too! But now there is the PTR and the end of your TR to enjoy!

I hate waiting in airports, all I could think of was being in Orlando yet wasting my time sitting at the gate and not being in Disney!! :sad2:

The lazy river was probably my favorite thing at Orange Lake. There were not many things I loved there...

Sounds like another wild ride going back home with delay and all. Glad you got home safe. It's better late than never get there when it comes to flying.

I wish your next trip is even more exciting that this one and I will follow your new PTR. :thumbsup2

It sure was an interesting trip home! I've decided DF is cursed when it comes to flying, he just got back from a business trip to Vegas and BOTH his flights were delayed on the way home :rotfl:

Thanks for the well wishes and for reading!! Can't wait for more of your TR too! :goodvibes

I really enjoyed your TR & looking forward to your PTR. I will be on board!!:cool1:

Thank you so much! My readers make the TRs so fun, see you over at the PTR!

Ok, so in my previous update I promised that I would sum up the TR and post my final thoughts, but instead I jumped right into the PTR for our next vacation. :rotfl:

Backing up a little, here is my final update:

First of all, my thoughts on Orange Lake. It was our first time staying here, and I meant to talk about it more during the TR but never did. While this place was very beautiful, villa was very bright and clean, etc., we decided that we will not be staying here again. If we do stay off site in the future, it it will be Vistana. I hated having to drive everywhere, even to the pool or the market, at this resort. And the customer service was terrible. We tried calling for extra towels one day-it took three calls (we kept being disconnected) and 20 minutes on the phone to be told we'd be charged 7 dollars a towel! We also blew a fuse in the bathroom one morning, and we were scolded by the front desk for using two blowdryers at once (eeek!) and it took two more phone calls and 10 hours before someone come to fix it!! Those are just a couple examples, but the list goes on and on...no offense to anyone who likes it here, but we were not big fans!

All right, enough of the negative stuff! That was the only glitch of the trip...the rest of it was amazing! The location of the resort was great, 5 mins to Disney. Having our own car was great, we had a quick ride everywhere and the blue diamond parking from AAA got us a very close spot at every park. The weather this trip was PERFECT, sunny and at least 75 everyday! It only rained once and it was while we were inside.

Getting engaged didn't hurt the trip either ;) It is one I will always remember, and all week we would walk by the spot where DF proposed and call it "our spot" :lovestruc

And finally, I am totally stealing this idea from Kristen, princess&her4princes, but she is a sweetheart so I am sure she won't mind! She did a top ten list from her trip on her TR and I decided it was a great idea. So here it is, the top ten highlights of our trip:

10. Shuffleboard! We felt like old people on a cruise ship :lmao: but we discovered this on our trip and it was so much fun! There were some serious tournaments going on in our family with this game.

9. No waits! The longest we waited in standby the entire week was 40 mins which was fine by us, but we had a few days where everything was a walk-on pretty much.

8. Riding TSM for the first time! I wondered if this ride would live up to all of the hype and it certainly did! We absolutely loved it!

7. Pre-ordering the photopass CD. A great idea learned about here on the boards of course, it was mom's Christmas gift from us kids and she loved it. The pictures came out great and it was the first time we got all of us in them! Such great momentos :cutie:

6. Mom being brave and getting on both ToT and Space Mountain. Growing up she never did many of the wilder rides, but for some reason as she gets older she loves them. Well, not so much ToT but she said she'll do Space every time from now on and it's great that she's not sitting out anymore.

5. My brother getting picked to be in the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. This was on his "must-do" list, it was really the only thing he was dying to do, and it happened! The whole thing was hilarious and he had so much fun.

4. Whispering Canyon Cafe! We love trying new restaurants, and this is one we will definitely revisit. The food was awesome, the place was so fun, and our server was great. It made for a great last night of the trip.

3. Engagement buttons and free dessert!
Everyone was so nice to DF and I, everywhere we went people were congratulating us and asking about our proposal story and to see my ring :flower3: The free cupcake we got at CP was also a nice perk, the yummiest one I've had in awhile!

2. Being together as a family! Cheesy, I know but now that we are all "grown up" and living away from home, it is nice to be together again for a week in our favorite place. My parents especially really enjoyed this.

1. The proposal! I think you guys probably guessed I'd put that as numero uno. And for obvious reasons :bride:

That's all folks!! Thanks again for reading, and if you haven't yet, coming say hi over at my new PTR!! :goodvibes

Your top 10 is great! Of course the proposal is #1 !! I'm going to use this idea at the end of next report :goodvibes.
