Just back from a 5 night/6 day stay at the Wilderness Lodge. We stayed at the lodge for the first time in December, and enjoyed it so much that we knew that on our next trip to Disney, we had to stay at the lodge.
This trip did not disapoint. We had an early flight in, and arrived at the lodge around 10:30 AM. We took the Magical Express, and were greeted at the door by a cast member who knew our family's name! (How they knew, I do not know, but it was a magical moment!) He then escorted us to the Check-In desk, where Ricky was waiting to check us in. Ricky told us that it was his first week on the job, but he did a great job checking us in, and had a room ready for us at 10:30. We were upgraded from a standard view to a Villas Courtyard View, which ended up being a nice, quiet location for us.
Our room was nice and clean when we arrived, and our Mousekeeper, Gloria, did a wonderful job all week keeping our room clean and even arranging our stuffed animals and making us towel animals. Our luggage was delivered within 3 hours of our arrival.
We ate at Roaring Forks every morning for breakfast, and we were thrilled to find that they have added Mickey waffles to the breakfast lineup. On our last stay at the Wilderness, we had decided the only thing that we didn't like about the lodge was the lack of waffles. Well...problem solved! We also had dinner one evening at the lodge. We had lunch at Le Ceiller and we were only slightly hungry, and were delighted that we could get soup using a snack credit. The minestrone was wonderful, and helped us warm up from being out in the rain!
The cast members at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. We ordered a large Mickey balloon (about 4 feet tall) from the Disney gift line, and a cast member at the front desk deflated him for us so that we could pack him in our suitcase to go home. We also had a family member call us at the lodge one night, and was tickled pink that the cast member wished her "a magical evening" before transfering her to our room.
Bus service was very good, in fact, better than I remember in December. We had not known about the bus to the Magic Kindgom, but once we found this bus we thought that it got us to the Kindgom a little quicker than the boat.
So, overall, we had a wonderful time at the Wilderness Lodge. Due to the heavy rain on two of our vacation days, this gave us the opportunity to explore and really enjoy the lodge, rather than being so park-focused. There is no question that we will be returning to the lodge on our next trip!
Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll try my best to answer them!
