We just returned home Monday from a too short trip (6 days, 5 nights - but it seemed shorter)
POR was great. The room was immaculate when we arrived, and stayed that way all week. We received towel animals twice, and had my son's stuffed animals "arranged" once. The food court was good - I still prefer CBR. The make your own pasta was a great idea, and very tasty. I did make my way over to POFQ one morning for beignets. They were good, but sorry, don't know what the fuss is about. After that trip I was glad we weren't in FQ - looks much too cramped for us. Even the food court was tiny - very hard to move around the soft drink area.
Now, I have to say this, and I know I'll get flamed, but...
I read so many posts before our trip about how big this resort is, and how walking from the food court to the room was soooo long and tiring. Come on people!! We were in bldg 36 - which if you check a map is probably the furthest building from the main areas - and it is NOT a long walk. I would wander to the food court each morning for breakfast and to refill our mugs. I could do the entire trip in about half an hour - and I was not rushing. At a normal pace, I could make it to the food court in about 5 minutes. So, please, don't be put off by those comments. My morning walk to FQ took about 12 minutes...very pretty along the river while the sun is rising...
We didn't spend much time at the pool - one day for about an hour, and another evening for about 2 1/2 - but the kids loved the water slide. I did hear comments from other guests that the water was pretty cold. I didn't swim, but my kids were fine.
I would say our favorite moderate is still CBR - just a personal preference as I like the Caribbean theming better than the Orleans/bayou theming. POR is definitely a close second - won't stay at CSR again.
Any questions, let me know!
