Currently looking at a trip June 3-11... I've checked out touring plans, and it definitely had lower crowds than the rest of the month. And I imagine we would avoid the SWW crowd...

I'm just wondering if anyone has gone on this week and what you thought. DBF and I are used to going in early May... but work and college schedules won't allow for that this year.

We went that week 2 years ago. It wasn't too bad. It seemed like the crowds walking around the park were large but the ride wait times weren't bad.

Also would love to see everyone's experience with this time of year. Our oldest is 8, and with starting 3rd grade we don't want to take him out of school anymore. We were thinking the 1st week in June too!

We were there last year at that time(for our first Star Wars Weekend). The crowds were not too bad, and definitely lighter than our previous Spring Break 2010 trip. We plan on going in early June next year. Have a great trip!

We are going the 3rd through the 12th this year. In the past we have went the last week of May into the first week of June and crowds have been manageable.

This summer we are going to DL in July. Our usual visits to WDW are in that time frame of June. We love it! Of course it is Hot & can be stormy between 3-5 but we take breaks at the resort. Love the late evenings at the parks in June. Drink lots of water & have a plan for your favorite attractions! Don't worry have fun! When can a trip to WDW ever be a mistake?:goodvibes

This feedback is wonderful, and exactly what I was hoping to hear! Looks like I'll be making reservations today!

We are preparing for the weather, but being from WI I'm definitely not a stranger to humidity. :)

We have gone at that time for 4 straight years (with #5 on the way!) Its fine crowdwise. But it will get busier as each day passes. I highly recommend Josh from easywdw.com and his recommended days. He has never steered us wrong :thumbsup2

As for the humidity, its brutal. I'm from the Midwest too and its NOTHING like what we get here (or at least not for an extended period of time). It also seems that much worse in June since our poor winterized bodies haven't had any real heat at home yet! :rotfl: Drink tons of water, all day, and try to get out of the sun between 2 and 6 to help. And do NOT forget sunscreen in often neglected areas (hair parts, tops of ears, tops of feet etc).

Have fun!

We have gone that week since my kids started school, so at least 8 I think and we find it to be one of the less crowded times that we go. It is hot however. As you mentioned, if you have no interest in SWW avoid HS on those days.

We have been that time of year several times, sadly for us we will not get to make the trip this year. It is very workable with just a small amount of planning.

If your family is a morning family rope drop is great use of time in June. We always get a ton done in the morning time. By 12 oclock you have done enough and you will be ready for a break, either meal or pool or nap.

The longer hours can be nice too for some great evening time. We stay off-site (that might change next year) but we always mange a late night at MK, one at EPCOT, and one at DHS.

If you have the ability to take a day off from the parks that can charge the battery a lot.

Of course water, sun screen, be prepared for possible afternoon rain and stuff like that and the biggest of course use the FASTPASS....we never have waited more that 40 minutes for anything in June.

Gay Days are the first week of June. Depending on events, certain parks can be very busy.

We have also done that time frame. Start Early. We also thought that the MK extra magic evening was packed. But the other Extra Magic Hours were good. We had quite afew pop up showers which is normal.

Gay Days is May 30 - June 2 this year. It won't affect OP, but FYI for others. There is a designated park for each day, so you can avoid the crowds.

This is all great! Thanks again!

We definitely are RD people, and we tend to take a break back at the hotel in the afternoon. My plan is to have a CS lunch somewhere in the park, and then head back for a rest. I'm also trying to work in some late night ADRs (Been seeing a lot of 8pm time slots, which works just fine)

Being a half-ginger (AKA, the completion but not the hair :( ) I'm pretty much always wearing sunscreen. I'm pretty sure we drink more water on our Disney trips than any other time!

Honestly, I'm just glad there is so much positive feedback from this week. I was really bummed that we couldn't manage an early May trip, and I was really worried that this week would be swamped like the rest of the summer. :thumbsup2

We're taking DGS June 7-16. We know that the crowds will be a lot bigger than our usual October, but we have to wait for school to end!
Being from the North, we will suffer from the heat I know, but DGS should be fine, being a Texas kid! :thumbsup2 He's been to Disneyland, but we can't wait to show him what he refers to as "the BIG Disney"!:lmao:

We've gone many times during this time. It is more crowded than off season, but they have longer hours. We do all the extra magic hours. We go to a park for early entry and then we leave around noon to go eat. After that we go to a different park for the afternoon. If they are having late night hours somewhere and we still have energy, we will go to that too. We find that we can do a lot more rides during the summer. The bad part is that we tire out and we lug around rain ponchos all day (we purchase ours at the Dollar Tree and throw them away after we use them once).

We also take advantage of getting into the parks early by booking an early breakfast at a park that does not have early entry that day.

OP, we're going June 1-8 and I have no worries that no matter what, it's going to be fun. :thumbsup2 I tried to figure out the best week of the summer based on the crowd calendars and people's opinions, and it seems that the first 2 weeks of June get high reviews for "lower" crowds and not a ton of heat...

We may head to SWW on the friday before we go, just to see what the hoopla is all about ! :yay:

Same here, we always go last week of May into the first week of June and it's a great time to be there. Yes it can be a little warm and a little crowded at times, but very manageable. Plus the parks are starting their late, late hours. We will be there 5/31 through 6/10 this year. Can't wait! :cool1:

I was at Disney in June 2010 from June 4th to June 16th. I don't know if it was because it was almost 3 years ago, but I actually thought it was just as crowded as when I went this past year in late October.

It really wasn't that bad, IMO. The only thing that I didn't like was that it was HOT. I tried going to Downtown Disney one morning and almost died. It wasn't so much that I was feeling hot and sweaty (because I wasn't even sweating) as the actual feeling of the sun burning my skin, it felt like I was walking on the surface of the sun.

But other than that, if I had to choose between the 2 months I would pick June. I thought it was much better to just be able to wear shorts everyday and never worry about bringing a coat.

Even though I hate hot weather, at Disney I feel it's best because I dislike having to bring extra clothes to the park and keep taking off coats, putting back on, never knowing what the weather is going to be like. I had no idea it could be like that in October, I figured it would be hot enough for water parks every day, just not horribly hot like the summer. But I was wrong...most days I was cold and it didn't help that the the air conditioning is kept on in most stores and rides even when it's very cold.

So unlike in the summer, when you can go to a ride or store to cool down, there's no where to go to warm up when it's unseasonally cold.

Also, in June, since the parks were open until 1am, 3am a lot of days (EMH) I could go back to the hotel and take a nap on the hours when it was really hot. It really wasn't too bad before 11am or so and after 3-4pm. That way I was at the parks when the weather was nice and it wasn't very crowded.

We are going the same dates, so thanks for starting this thread. I was worried because we have never gone in the summer, but it's the only time we can go.
