This is my first Disney cruise and heard so much about the FE program. I thought I would start the thread since I couldn't find one on here.
We are really looking forward to our first cruise.:earboy2:

Do you want to organize the Fish Extender list? The cruise meet thread isn't just about doing FEs. You can communicate with others on your cruise, regarding almost anything about the cruise - ports, excursions, questions about who's cruised before, whatever. Fish Extenders are just one thing that is handled on cruise meet threads.

Good to know.
I can organize the Fish Extender list.
Any suggestions and tips from others would be awesome.
thank you
I have this write up I did:
SETTING UP A FE GROUP
There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

The easiest, most private way to handle the information necessary to prepare the list (many people prefer not to put sensitive information on a public forum), is to use the “Conversation” feature here. There needs to be at least two people to start a conversation. Only the starter of the conversation (usually the organizer) can add additional people into the conversation (as long as they do NOT select “Allow anyone in the conversation to invite others” at the bottom of the reply window). Then when new people express a desire to join, usually by just saying “we want to join the FE”, the organizer can add them by clicking on the “Invite more” button in the “Conversation Participants” window (lower right of conversation page). Only those people participating in the conversation can see what’s posted there, and respond there. I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

Hope that helps.

Welcome everyone! This is will be my 3rd time sailing on the Dream but 1st time participating in the FE. Please add me!

Let's open up a discussion!

What kind of stateroom did you book?

Any plans for port adventures?

Have any past experiences you would like to share with the group?

Who's travelling with you?

Any what not to dos?

We will be taking our first Disney cruise too! it will be myself, my husband, and our 21 month old at time of sailing.

I booked us a deluxe interior since it's a shorter itinerary and we are going to Disney before the cruise.

Not planning any excursions for Nassau since we've been several times by ship and air. Hoping for nice day at Castaway Cay.

I'm kind of interested in the FE group. Never heard/seen anything like it on the other cruises we've done.

That's exciting! We'll be cruising this time around with our 15 month, 5 and 7 year old kids.

We actually heard about the FE program on our last Disney cruise after wondering how people had gifts in their pouches outside their door. I had Googled it and found it was a Fish Extender.

Due to the size of our family, we are booked in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom. Fits us all comfortably. Back on deck 6 (was on Deck 6 and 7 before).

We loved the Waterski and glass bottom boat port adventure last time so we're going to do it again. We did the parasailing the first time around but found it wasn't something we wanted to do the second time around.

Cat 5E, We are hoping we really enjoy the extended veranda.

Any plans for port adventures?
Not at this time.

Have any past experiences you would like to share with the group?
No, this is our first Disney cruise and our first cruise ever.

Who's travelling with you?
My wife.

My wife and have always wanted to go on a cruise, but were a little hesitant about it. We figured if we were going to enjoy a cruise, it would be a Disney cruise.

See you guys in January,

Ren

Hi Ren,

I hope you and your wife enjoy your time! You won't go wrong with the veranda. I spent every night and mornings on there enjoying the ocean!

I am sorry for taking so long to get back to everyone. I am having difficulty figuring out the conversation aspect of this. I am also not getting the messages that someone posted. (for some reason)

I am really excited to be going on our first cruise. For those of you that are counting it's 215 days!!

I have also a part of a very active FE FB group. We have already filled one group and are currently filling the second.

- here is a link for it https://m.facebook.com/groups/DisneyDreamJan30th2017

As soon as I can set up the conversation I will begin to add everyone.
Thank you for your patience.
