I think it will be fine if they present Cars Land as an expansion of Pixar Place and Star Wars Land as something related to Lucasfilm. This is Disney's Hollywood Studios, not Islands of Adventure...

Even if the entrance is to make it look as if you are entering LucasFilm and they are shooting Star Wars VII, and then it fades into a Star Wars Land. It would flow much better from Hollywood Blvd.

Btw, if they need a new park icon when they take down the hat, why hasn't anyone thought of using the Crossroads?

This thing is still completely unofficial...it's just got alot of guessing in that article.

I do hope they get huge expansion at studios AND animal kingdom because that is the logical thing to do.

But you really have to hear this from a high level suit. There is no surety here until that happens.

One thing though: radiator springs racers runs 4 hour lines in Disneyland and wdw has a much higher volume...it doesn't work in Florida on any level.

Except...if its the first "appointment only" ride in history...then maybe you got something.

One point that I'd like to throw out there is will the Earful Tower remain in the expanded Pixar Place?

With this is there a rumored announcement date yet. They have said a lot of information regarding the project rumor but I've been wondering when or if a date has been announced for something special or if anything is rumored as of right now.

I hope the Muppets are still there when we go in March. Hollywood is actually one of my daughter's favorite parks and both of these lands are very boy themed. I wish they would have done more of a pixar theme like one of you mentioned as an idea.

What I find odd about this whole rumour is that it turns DHS into a very boy-centric park. You're taking a good 1/4of the space and giving to two very male oriented franchises which is a weird choice for Disney.

Not saying female patrons wont enjoy either idea but it's the boys who will be most excited about it for the most part.

It almost makes me wonder if there's a tweak needed to know the real plan, maybe Cars Land is really Pixar Place expansion, or maybe another piece of the puzzle no one's really thought of yet.

I would be extremely sad to see Muppets leave entirely, Jim Hensons final work and all. I try to watch it every time I go and I laugh every single time. Move it please, don't lose it.

That being said I'm a Star Wars junkie and my son will be 8 in 2018 so for me it works perfectly.

To be fair, though, MK is a pretty girl centric park - especially with NFL and the continued emphasis on the princesses. I know that there are rides for all ages and genders, but in terms of how MK is marketed, they are really placing their emphasis on the princesses there. How many times have we read threads or heard people IRL talk about how there's not enough for little boys at Disney? Whether the impression is accurate or not, it is there, and these franchises would help that tremendously.

Personally, I would rather see a Pixar Place and a Star Wars Galaxy/Land, but that's just because I would like to see WDW and DLR continue to have lands/attractions that make them unique. I don't want to see everything new cloned in the other park just because it's popular in its first park. I like visiting DLR and knowing I'm going to find something different than WDW.

I disagree...I think they'd want this sooner. Star Wars has proven its staying power in general, Star Wars Weekends are hot...and now they've got several movies and another animated series in the pipeline. Perfect time.

Then again, DisneyParks isn't necessarily known for striking while the iron is hot...

Both of my girls love DHS, and are really excited about these rumored expansions - more so for Star Wars. And neither are tomboys...

Possible, but Cars Land itself is pretty sizable. What I'd expect (ALERT: TOTAL SPECULATION) is Cars Land to be in the "off path" areas currently holding LMA and the backlot tour, while the rest of the backlot area becomes rethemed to Pixar. Whether that would include additional attractions or not I don't know, but I'd doubt it at this point because they'd be sinking a lot of money into Cars and SW.

I actually think they need to expand the actual size of the park as well, as it's currently very cramped. A slight detour to the car park entrance road would free up some space behind Star Tours and the Muppets. This might allow them to free up other areas of the park (and hoepfully move the hat away!).

I also hope they don't get rid of all the old school Hollywood attractions. Universal Studios did this, and the park has lost virtually all its charm. I don't want DHS to become a place that is good for rides, but has nothing to see.

I would be happy to have any one of those but Star Wars would totally rock our world :0) also do you guys think the/a Monsters Inc coaster would be included with the possible Pixar Place expansion? If so another win for our fam! And what about Wreck it Ralph or The Incredibles done similar to US Spider-Man! The possibilities are endless.... But until there is an official CNN or major news source pick up a clip of a press conference confirming this one can always dream.

I have been extremely excited ever since Disney decided to purchase Lucasfilm, I truly believe there can be no better caretaker of the Star Wars Universe. I hope the Star Wars Land rumors are true, I grew up on Star Wars and my son has recently become very interested in it. I would love to be able to share this with him.

It makes complete sense, Disney didn't buy Lucasfilm for a 1/2 billion dollars so they could churn out a few movies and do some merchandising.

If they got Lucasfilm for only a half billion, it would have been the steal of the century, since Episode VII will very likely gross that easily and $1 billion is within reason. The purchase price was actually $4.05 billion.

Yet, they still may not have had the theme parks directly in mind with that purchase. If Disney doesn't somehow screw up the franchise, they can probably get a return on the investment within a decade.

The problem with ascribing theme park assets as a profit item for a purchase like this is that you can't tie direct revenue from the attractions themselves, since they are part of a whole with a single admission price. However, if they were planning a Star Wars Land anyways, and were negotiating a licensing fee for it, they could have considered that in the acquisition cost as well.
