I'm Just Here for the Food. The Disney Food. April 3-11, 2015 - Complete (6.25.15)

I totally agree about the chair saving. So obnoxious. :sad2:

It is so rude and selfish. Don't even get me started. I just moved some towels. Seriously, if you don't come back for three hours or more, you are just a complete jerk.

That's really shameful about the chairs...if you aren't going to sit by the pool...let someone else have the chairs...gah. BUT resorts...should have more chairs so people don't feel the need to do this...either...just sayin' it is a problem everywhere! Other than that though...the Mickey waffles and bacon looked yummy...

Yes, this first thing DD said when they woke us up that morning was ....MICKEY WAFFLES MOMMY!! I NEED them!!

I've really enjoyed reading your report so far. The backpacks you made are fanatastic! Looking forward to following along.

Great trip report! What stores sell the cute grab bags?

It is called Fun Finds in Downtown Disney near the new Boathouse restaurant. They actually have decent deals there. I got a coffee mug for $4 that I love. Thanks for following !!

I think I started following your report because you posted a link on the Beach and Yacht club forum...didn't I??? I can't remember...anyhoodle (if you allow me to quote you! LOL!!) there is a massive "CHAIR PIGGIE" problem there and you are absolutely within your rights as a guest at the pool to remove towels and steal chairs that are being saved. You are an official Chair Piggie Policewoman now!!! I'll have my badge on when we are at Stormalong Bay this summer....GRRRRR....watch out Chair Piggies...you will not have victory as long as I am around!! @ninjamom will back me up...she is the OFFICIAL WDW Chair Piggie police officer. hahaha!!!

I have been AWOL fro the TR's for a bit and never looked to see if you had one going. I missed not seeing the F&G this year but I will be there next year.

We really enjoyed SSR when we stayed a few years ago and I know we were in the Grandstand but not sure what building. That is a big resort but we liked it. Looks like you had a good trip.

Uuuuggghhhh! Chair hogs are the worst. When my girls were young, I wouldn't let them each have their own chair because I knew they would spend the majority of the time in the pool.

Looking forward to your review of Cape May. That's one of my husband's favorites, mainly because of all the seafood. He's disappointed they dropped the clams.

I don't think that was me that posted on the Beach Club forum, but I am so glad you are here. Yes. Chair piggies. HATE them. And I bet is reaches epic proportions at Beach Club. We need more people to police it I say.

Hey Lorrie!! Thanks so much for stopping in. I felt bad inviting all my regular peeps because I haven't had the time to read other people's reports, so I just hoped they found it and would stop by!! We love all of the Disney resorts. This is our home DVC resort and we love it. It is nice a quiet and classy. I like some of the other resorts better, but we've never had a bad stay at SSR.

I was the only one of us that had a chair for that very reason. DD was in the pool the whole time, so there was no point in her having her own chair.

We really love Cape May Cafe. I had a pile of fried clams while I was there. They were really good.

Day 6 – Part 2

After several hours at the pool, DD and I headed into Artist Palate for some lunch. She got the Flatbread Pizza

Cheese Flatbread- Tomato Sauce and Cheese $8.99

I got Chicken nuggets and House Chips

Chicken Breast Nuggets- 8 pieces with House-made Chips or Vegetable Slaw $9.89

And we got cupcakes for dessert.

After that, we headed back to the room. DH and DS went to see a movie at DTD. It was Fast and Furious 7, I think. They ate at Earl of Sandwich while they were down there.

DD and I did some laundry and straightening up and took a nap.

After several hours, we got ready for dinner and nervously waited on the boys to get back. They were cutting it close to our ADR. They made it just in time and we headed over to Beach Club. Our dinner was Cape May Café. The kids love this place.

I am sorry, I don’t like taking photos of just a bunch of spoonfuls of food on a plate, so the only food porn I got was desserts. And that is the best part anyway.

We LOVE Cape May Café and I highly recommend it. Our server was wonderful and there isn’t just seafood, there are also some really great chicken and beef offerings. It is really good. The kids always ask me to include this one in our ADR’s.

After dinner, DS headed back to the room and DD, DH and I headed over to see Illuminations.

We got this primo spot.

We are about 45 minutes early, but we staked out a good place and DH went to get me another pink slushie drink.

I didn’t take any fireworks photos. We just enjoyed the show and head back to Beach Club to get the car and headed back to the room.

Day 7 coming up!!

We'd never thought about Cape May Cafe but we walked by a few times when we were staying at YC and it looked really good. Glad you had a great meal. We'll have to try it sometime. :thumbsup2

Can't wait for Cape May...it will be our first time in a few weeks! My wife goes crazy for seafood buffets...sometimes I can't even see her face behind a mountain of crab legs! Great Illuminations spot...where is that exactly?

Yum...those cupcakes at Cape May look delish...we are going there for breakfast in October...I wonder if they put any of the desserts out at breakfast? I love the way the decor is there too...from pictures anyway..haven't been yet!!

A rest day is always a great idea. Unfortunately, we never have enough time for one considering our trips are generally only five days.

Why was I thinking Cape May discontinued the clams? Was it something else? Anyway, glad you had a good meal.

That was an awesome spot for Illuminations! Good job!

We really love it there. There is something for everyone and the service and food are always great.

You know, we have never been there for breakfast. We need to try that sometime. I love the old 1900 era bathing suits.

If we are going to be there longer than 5 days, we always try and work in a rest day. We really need two rest days. It is just so exhausting.

I don't know anything about them discontinuing them. I had the fried ones and they were delicious!!

We did get and awesome spot. We had to wait, but the only reason we went that night was to see it, so we were good with waiting and the weather was amazing that night.

We love Cape May and I hope you do as well. Our spot was right off the bridge between UK and France. It is a pretty large space. A great spot if you can get it.

Your breakfast looked yummy. I am debating whether or not to FP+ Star Tours...but we get motion sick too and I'm starting to think maybe not a good idea...

I am not sure why I keep forgetting. It makes me soooo sick :crazy2:

Day 7 – Part 2

After that, it was time for our lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-in.

There were lots of people trying to walk up and get a table and they were telling people it would be 2 hours. We were glad to have a reservation. We still had to wait, but only about 15 minutes.

We got some onion rings to share.

Crispy Onion Rings- Horseradish Dipping Sauce $8.49

These went FAST. I barely got a photo before they were gone.

He said it was not good at all. So spotty on the food review here. Atmosphere was cool though and our waiter was great. The kids didn’t want dessert, so he just gave us some water instead. DH and I had.

Hot Fudge Sundae- Vanilla Ice Cream with Hot Fudge, Whipped Cream, and a Cherry $7.99

Out-of-This-World Turtle Cheesecake- with Heath Bar, Pecans, Chocolate Chips, Caramel Sauce, and topped with Whipped Cream $6.99

They were both good. So, avoid the steak here, I guess.

Up next – rest of Day 7!!
