I booked the free park hopper and free water park package back in December. You had to book it by December 16th.
I called today to add on Disney Dining and they told me Im not allowed. Thanks alot. I sure as heck wish Id know that when I booked it! They told me the only way to add on dining was to take away my free park hopper stuff and then add dining. I dont want to add on the extra $450+ just to add dining! UGH, now I have to call back and cancel 7 ADRs!!! So much for being able to add on dining up to 5 days before arrival!

That's too bad. I know that last year I was able to get the free water park and such add on (it didn't include the free hopper option though) after I originally booked my trip. This was booked through AAA, my agent was able to upgrade my pass to include the free water parks, etc. then a few months later when I went to pick up my travel docs I had the DDP added with no problem. I don't know why they weren't able to do this for you, unless the free hopper option had something to do with it????? They should be happy that someone wants to pay more to get something added on, so I don't know why they can't do that for you.

Just taking stock of what so many others on this board have said....If you don't get what you want, call back and try again. You just may have more luck the second time with a different CM.

The lady said it was because you had to book my package by Dec 16th and so you cant change it since its after Dec 16th. :confused3 Im really dissapointed since I already made all the ADRs and planned everything out. Oh well, I mean atleast we are still going, but I was really pumped for some fabulous eating!

That's how Disney makes money on the dining plan, they make sure you don't get a discount on other things.

Umm I did this, and was able to ahve the dining plan. You guys are making me worry that I don't have dining now. I am gonna go check my package, but when we called to pay the whole trip off the CM said myw plus, fun and dining.

The problem is that the original package was booked within the special time period. If the OP had called to add dining before Dec. 16th, no problem. Instead the OP waited until several weeks after the special ended to add dining. The special is no longer available, so you can't make any changes. The OP may be able to call and talk to someone in guest services and get it added, but since the special rate is over, it may not happen as well.

Ahhh whew thank you for clearing that up. Yeah I can understand why no changes to your package now that it's done. We were told if by some weird chance we decided hey we want a different resort we could do that, but there would be a change fee. I DON'T even want to chance trying that. LOL I feel better that everything is done.

If that is true it is a new rule. I have changed dates on packages with codes after the code expired (changed my arrival and departure date to get better air fare). I even added a night to a ressie with a code while I was at WDW and got the discounted rate (which was a surprise to me, I was ready to pay rake rates, sh, don't tell the Mouse).

Call back. Sometimes I call 3 or 4 times to get someone who knows how to do something.

I vote to keep trying and calling! I'm not sure of the rules, so I can't comment on that. Last September, we had free dining for 6 nights and I called just weeks before (we had booked in April) to add on a 7th night and it took some time with CRO, but it was allowed - best of luck! We love the DDP!

You've been given incorrect information. What you're trying to do is an "addition" to an existing package, which is allowed as long as you are adding it more than 48 hours from your package start date. As a Disney Specialist travel agent, I've added Dining for many guests with the same discounted Magic Your Way Package. Call back and if the agent declines the addition, ask for a Guest Services Supervisor.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

However, not all discounted MYW packages qualify for the Dining Plan. This one might, but folks should be surprised if they happen to get a better discount ($450!!!!!), but one that doesn't allow them to get the Dining Plan.

I am not sure how DIsney makes money on DDP the way we eat! LOL!!!!! WE make the plan work for us. Actually a cast member a couple of years ago told us how to work the plan. For example if you are a light breakfast eater don't use the plan for breakfast. Make PS'ing for all the most expensive resturants you can. Believe me my dh makes sure he orders everything he can. HA!
As far as the discounts go my DBIL is a pilot so they got 50% off their room at YC but when they tried to add the DDP they were told they couldn't. I felt bad because I am always talking about how good the DDP is. They spent most of their time at counter service places instead of enjoying some of the great & fun places to eat. Oh well it is still Disney!

You an get a discounted room rate and add on the dining plan. The DDP can be added to AAA room rates.

Each time CRO releases a general room discount there's one code that's room only and one code that includes dining.

That's only for certain discounted packages -- not all. The Dining Plan is not available with all discounts.

The upgraded tickets offer was eligible for the dining plan, because that's what we have. Keep calling until you get someone that will do it for you.
Good luck!

I second (or third, or fourth, or fifth) the recommendation that you try, try again. You're (trying to) pay full price for the dining plan, you're not trying to combine discounts (like adding free dining to free water parks and more). I know there were many people last year (myself included) that were able to modify their free dining trip details--adding days, upgrading park tickets, even changing resorts--after the booking dates had passed.

Good luck, and let us know what happens!

Just an FYI- I'm a TA and I have several clients booked for this offer. I called to see if I could get one ressie changed to add dining and had no problem. Try a new CM.

I vote for trying again also, I have made several changes to my ressie in the last few days with no problem and I booked the same special you have.......changed dates and addded another person with the DDP.
