Oh. Dubuque. That sounds....nice.
Do foreign heads of state visiting the White House say they are looking forward to seeing the President?
Do Catholics visiting the Vatican say they are looking forward to seeing the pope?
Do hot tourists waiting in line in the blazing sun at Aloha Isle say they are looking forward to seeing a Dole Whip?
I thought some things were just implied and didn't need to be said...

Hey, Dubuque has a nice casino at least.
That is true. Plus, I didn't make a dumb wager on the NFC Championship game (I knew who was going to win that game considering who our quarterback is ) so I don't "owe" you a meal.
Hey, where's the Chicagoland support?
I'd like to take credit for planning that time into our touring plan, but it was basically dumb luck.
So did you know what a natatorium was? I had to look it up.
Before I get on with the rest of the Trip Report, I wanted to pause for a few minutes and say how wonderful it makes me feel that all of you are reading along. I'd also like to specifically thank all of the Houston-area readers for your kind words. I'm sure you were pretty surprised to see a Disney Trip Report in your own back yard,
Which is what got Bambi and I to thinking. We had such as good time exploring a new area of the country that we're thinking about doing it again. Which is where all of you come in.
Madison's spring break for next year is the first week of March. We have a few ideas of where to go, but we're not set on anything. So, here is your opportunity to sell us on your neck of the woods. What makes your hometown great? What draws people there? What keeps them coming back? Basically, why should someone come and spend their tourist dollars there? (Don't worry, if we like your city that much and decided to visit, we won't be hitting you up to crash on your couch or anything.)
So, if anyone is willing, leave a post here telling us why I should write a Trip Report about your backyard.

you cant get better than the lehigh valley. the crayola factory, just born candies(home of the peeps!) dorney park. you are one hour from hershey pa. home of the hershey bar, hershey factory and hershey park. one hour from new york city and philly!! (these are just o few of the things to do around here for kids. alot of history in philly and new york city is just something you have to see. and the best part, theres about 10 disdads within an hour of me!!! just thinking, the pocono mtns are 20 min. away. if your an old movie buff, the movie thr molly mcguires were shot about 40 min. north of me.(near jason) theres just to much to mention.
I'm sort of a stickler for details...I don't think you're supposed to notice things like that!
The festival looks like a lot of fun, but yeah, a little out of our way. Europe is on our bucket list, though, so maybe one day we'll make it over there.I think my backyard is a little bit far for you to go but if you want have a look at my PTR linked below. (free advertising?!) I've just made a post about our annual festival. You can start planning for next year lol! Why wouldn't you want to visit a town where they race piggies?!
Thanks Dave!great pics barry!!!
I haven't been to a casino in probably 15 years. If I'm going to throw my money away, it's at least going to be at Disney!Hey, Dubuque has a nice casino at least.

Come on, Brian. I've got enough love to go around. Make sure you bring Perry. So apprently that means that it was not implied for me.... I suppose that makes sense.
Hey, where's the Chicagoland support?
Well, you just got Gabe Carimi (Left Tackle out of Wisconsin). That guy is a beast. A friend of ours actually ran into him in WDW in December while he was down there for a college football awards ceremony. (Gabe, not our friend. He was just on vacation.) You don't realize just how BIG some of these guys are until you're standing right next to them.Love most Chicago teams. But the Bears need a quarterback and an offensive line before they'll go anywhere.
If it weren't for dumb luck, I'd have no luck at all.Dumb luck is where lots of us get our "smarts"
You had me up until "home of the peeps". Unless you're also "home of a big honkin' microwave to blow them suckers up", I don't want nothing to do with those nasty little piles of sugar.you cant get better than the lehigh valley. the crayola factory, just born candies(home of the peeps!) dorney park. you are one hour from hershey pa. home of the hershey bar, hershey factory and hershey park. one hour from new york city and philly!! oops. How about a long sleeve shirt? Would we be OK packing one of those?Barry dear you forgot to add the "rules" regarding the vacation. I would love to see another area of the country BUT it needs to meet my criteria.
1) I will not have to pack a jacket
2) 3 hours or less to fly from Milwaukee and 3 hours or less to Orlando
3) Kid friendly
Anything else is acceptable.
I see that Dave has submitted a request and while I have thought about that part of the country I would like to be sure I do not need to pack a jacket.
We've actually spent a good amount of time over there. Bambi's parents used to live in one of the Northwest suburbs and we'd be up there a few times a year. We've been meaning to get back up to the MoA, and Como Park Zoo was pretty fun last time we were there.Great LMA pics...love all the hidden details you caught!
For your future vacation destinations, I don't think MN would fit Bambi's criteria, sorry! Besides, you practically live next door anyway.
What??? Are you trying to tell me Disney is guilty of product placement???As promised, here are a bunch of pictures from the Lights! Motors! Action! Stunt show. I've made fun of it in the past for being overtly sponsored by Brawny Paper Towels - including having plenty of rolls of paper towel in the garage areas as you walk in.
And then you have to go explain it to Bambi.Funny, when I break a window, it's usually is more pieces. And they're usually jagged.
The list of those jobs seems to grow by the minute.Yet another Disney job to submit my application for.
Good job, Madison! And just to prove that Madison was paying attention in Kindergarten's Fire Safety week, she started yelling "Stop Drop and Roll!" right about here:
Since you're from Wisconsin, you'd better define what jacket weather is. Are we talking cooler than freezing? It's a fine line, because we still need to make sure it is cool enough for Barry to wear his official DISdads meet sweatshirt.Barry dear you forgot to add the "rules" regarding the vacation. "I say, Mr. Oblivious. Do you fancy a trip to natatorium this evening to cool off from this dreadful weather we're having?"
He's also a good fall back in case I can't think of something for Christmas, birthday, etc. Just buy something with Eeyore on it. (I hope she didn't read that...)
Something tells me that you and Mark are going to have a field day on Monday...
Well, there is no point in me doing this as you'll be in my "neck of the woods" next week.
Yeah, what she said.
See ya Monday.
Chicago doesn't seem like a "vacation destination." Not because it's not a cool city, but if I can drive there in 90 minutes or less, it just doesn't seem vacationy.
Yup. We're meeting up with Brian for dinner on Monday night. He's finally paying up his Deep Dish Pizza bet from the NFC Championship Game.
Hey, you didn't say you were looking forward to seeing me on Monday.
I was telling Danny about your DIS meet Saturday (during that exciting ball game I was at ). I was thinking you were meeting on the week-end. I told him that they were doing a tour at Wrigley, he said he didn't think they did them on game days. Then my mind got to going (since it wasn't occupied by the ball game) and I thought maybe since there was a bus trip on Sunday, if that was the day of your meet, I might try to figure someway to crash it, or do a "drive-by" or something. But I see you are meeting on Monday. The bad news is that I won't be able to stalk a pack of DIS-ers, the good news is, I won't have to sit through another one of those excruciating ball games!

I'm looking forward to seeing you, Kathy! And making fun of Barry.

But enough of the product placement. Let's get to some smoke and fire, flying cars and falling people, shall we?
Funny, when I break a window, it's usually is more pieces. And they're usually jagged. More Disney Magic!

If nothing else convinces you, there is the matter of Mrs. Knowitall's Key Lime Pie of Awesomeness.
