Gus_Restaurant_4395_Standard1.jpg

which is one of the restaurants at the hotel. I guess we will check out around 10am and get into our car

to drive to our next destination, Key West. I am sure there will be numerous stops along the way

to enjoy the scenery. Once we arrive we will check into the

Southernmost Hotel on the Beach. I doubt our rooms will be ready by the time we arrive, so I guess we will just park the car and have a light late lunch at the Southernmost Café on the Beach.

Key West is really beautiful! And it is such a laid back and relaxed place to be at too!
You really should follow your son's advice. ;)

Yay karin, Day 3 of your trip looks fab! Not least because you get to have dinner with us - or we get to have dinner with you. Either way, I cannot wait

I love the view from the restaurant so beautiful! We have never been to the Keys. You sure do know how to take a vacation!

Oh, I don't think I have every really looked at pictures from that area. Simply GORGEOUS!!!

I agree... you do know how to vacation!:thumbsup2

Ok, I have a question and sorry if I am on the wrong thread , but did I miss your Italy report? I don't remember reading it and don't remember seeing it. Or am I just losing my mind :confused3 - which is really possible. :rotfl:

Just wondering if I missed it somewhere cuz I really wanted to read about it.

Thanks Karin.

That car looks awesome. Thanks to your TR's I am determined to try out a convertible. We will be renting a car for the one night we are in WDW in Sept to drive to Port Canaveral. I rented a Mustang convertible:banana: The only problem is that DH will be picking it up at MCO since I will be flying in a day earlier and using ME. I have not told him I got a convertible since he isn't a fan. I did tell him that I rented a certain type of car and he better not change to something else!

Your pictures on your way and in Key West are awesome. I would love to go there one day. How far of a drive is it from Orlando?

I can't wait to see the pictures you take of that blue water! I've never driven to Key West, but my sister did and she said it is a long drive on those bridges.

I guess it will be a day to really look forward to and a day to remember - the wonderful drive over all those bridges to Key West and then the awesome dinner with you and your family! :cloud9:

Heavenly sunset :cloud9:

They are wonderful to watch from a balcony at a nice hotel. ;)

I love the view from the restaurant so beautiful! We have never been to the Keys. You sure do know how to take a vacation!

Teresa, if you have never been, then put this on your bucket list! The drive there is wonderful, you cross over long bridges, with the most wonderful turquoise water left and right of you and Key West itself is so laid back and relaxed. It is the perfect start to a vacation. :goodvibes

It is a beautiful place to be. The drive is just breathtaking and it usually takes us a lot longer than usual as we stop so often to enjoy the views and take photos.

Hi Karin , your pix of Key West look great .. so beautiful!!

It is a wonderful place to be, Rosie. Maybe your group should think about adding Key West to the list of places to visit. ;)
I'd volunteer to be your guide. :rotfl2:

Where's the keylime pie on a stick?:)

IMG_2251.jpg

Here it is! And I intend to have one at least once a day! :rotfl2:

Um, aahhh ..... to be honest ....... about the Italy report .......

I haven't done it yet! :rotfl2:
No one was asking so I thought there would not be interest, but since you asked I will put it together this afternoon and hopefully have it up by next week. :goodvibes
And YES, this IS the place to look for it! :thumbsup2

There is NO way we would ever afford a convertible here and to be honest, it would not make much sense either, so we splurge while we are on vacation and we both LOVE our convertible (even if it messes with my hair :lmao:).
I hope you'll enjoy yours too and the Mustang Convertible we had last year was AWESOME! :thumbsup2

We both just LOVE Key West. Such a relaxed place.
As far as driving there. We usually do it in two portions as it is about an 8 hour drive from Orlando. The drive towards Miami is pretty boring, but once you hit all the bridges it becomes absolutely AWESOME and we stop far too often to be able to do it in one day. So we'll stay overnight in Key Largo on the way down and in Fort Lauderdale (there's a Bubba!!) on the way back to Orlando. ;) :thumbsup2

Just checking in and marking my spot:lmao:

:thumbsup2 ... nice to know that you up to date, Rosie!

I can't wait to see the pictures you take of that blue water! I've never driven to Key West, but my sister did and she said it is a long drive on those bridges.

Now that Tom has a DSLR I guess we will get even more pics than before. ;) -And your sister is absolutely right, the waters are beautiful.
There are lots of bridges to cross, the longest being the 7 mile bridge and the water there has the most wonderful turquise colour.
You really should drive there yourself one of these days. :thumbsup2 I recommend the Southernmost on the Beach as your hotel! ;)

Thanks Karin! Really appreciate all you do and sorry to make you go through more work. :goodvibes

Karin Key West is one of their vacations ,
"We will view coral and rare tropical fish at John Pennycamp Coral Reef State Park, take an airboat ride in the everglades, visit Theater of the Sea, The Heminway House and enjoy festivities at Mallory Pier '

Trouble is on the same page is DISNEY!!!!!! Can't get by that !!It is gonna be hard enough going to Universal, with my heartstrings pulling me to the Mouse !!:rotfl2:

I am quite happy you asked for it .... I'd love to share, but wasn't sure anyone was interested.
I started typing my "Italy report" yesterday and as soon as it's finished I will post it! :thumbsup2

Hm, maybe they need to combine it with Disney - so their best "pole dancing escort" can experience both! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Key West

I hope we will be able to sleep in a little and then head over to the Southernmost Cafe on the Beach for breakfast.

After breakfast we will hop onto one of the sightseeing trains that go around the island

and walk around the island for some time. I am pretty sure we will climb the lighthouse,

DSC_0336.jpg

DSC_0291.jpg

as the view is just awesome

IMG_2274.jpg

and we will visit Hemingway’s House, which is just across the road. We have been to both several times and the Hemingway House is a must because of all the cats there.

DSC_0363.jpg

I guess we will return back to our room for a light lunch,

IMG_2251.jpg

before we will chill on the balcony or hit the pool for a while. Lateron we will stroll along Duval Street for some time.

DSC_0382.jpg

In the evening we will head to “Salute” a restaurant on the beach for dinner. Maybe we will make it to Mallory Square to watch the sunset

IMG_2398.jpg

and then enjoy a little rest on the balcony of our room again.
