Armed with a healthy dose of pixie dust (literallythe boys were shaking that stuff out for days!) we set our sights on adventure.
Adventureland to be exact!
Before turning to cross the bridge at the hub, we stopped to take some PhotoPass pics. I wanted to get a few in front of the castle with all of our stuff offno lanyards, sunglasses, fans, etc. I wanted to be able to see our matchy-matchy shirts! The lighting wasnt great as it was getting to be later in the day and the sun was casting shadows. Still...I think they turned out pretty good. I will say that Jeff really doesnt like these though because the castle is not centered. That bugs him!
Finally, we put our gear back on and head into Adventureland. First stop is MOST DEFINITELY the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse.
This attraction was closed for refurb on our 2007 trip and Jeff was sorely disappointed. He loves the treehouse and couldnt wait to share it with the boys. As we began climbing the treehouse, we were all alone. No crowd to follow, no crowd pushing us along, so it was nice to be able to just enjoy all of the little treats the treehouse has to offer. Unfortunately, the alone time didnt last long and we soon had a crowd pushing up behind us. We wanted to go slow and enjoy so we found ourselves moving to the side a lot to let people by us. Heres a pic of the boys in front of the water contraption. Dan spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out how it worked!
We climbed all the way to the top to what would be the Robinson boys bedroom. This is a picture of the boys contemplating being that high in the tree to sleep!!
I honestly wish I had taken more pictures here. I thought I did, but apparently those are the only ones I have. Not sure what I was thinking! I think I was caught up in taking it all in! My boys have not see the movie Swiss Family Robinson and it is now on our To-See list!
Our next stop in Adventureland was the Jungle Cruise! I LOVE THE JUNGLE CRUISE!! I am such a sucker for the cheesy humor and cheap jokes. But....we decided to Fastpass it and head to the Tiki Room. I DO NOT LOVE THE TIKI ROOM! I do this attraction because I love my family, but I really do not enjoy those birds! Im not sure what it is, but it is my LEAST favorite attraction in all of MK. But...like I said...because I love my family, I endure!
After the difficult climb up the tree and the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room , we needed some refreshment. Boy, were we in the right place! I was so looking forward to trying the much-talked-about and highly-loved Dole Whip! We got in the line and waited for our turn. I got the Dole Whip Float with pineapple whip and pineapple juice. Some of the boys got pineapple juice with orange whip. No matter the combination, these snacks are SO DELICIOUS! They definitely lived up to the hype....and this would not be our only stop of the trip. Here are some pictures of the family enjoying the tasty deliciousness that is the DOLE WHIP!
Dan was having a 14 year old moment and had separated himself from us. I took his pic anyway!
I took more pics of our snack than of the TreeHouse.....go figure!! LOL!
OH BOY!! Its time for some JUNGLE CRUISIN! We get in the FP line and are soon boarding our very own Jungle boat! Did I mention I LOVE this ride?? Well, I do, but this time I have to say I was disappointed. I guess the quality of your skipper can make or break the ride and our skipper just lacked something. He delivered the jokes, but they seemed to fall flat. He didnt seem to improv at all, but stuck to the script. Even at the end of the ride where most skippers will keep telling jokes waiting to dock, ours just gave the customary grab small children by the hand speech. SO SAD....I was so looking forward to this. Oh well....I grabbed a few pics anyway. ENJOY!
Did you ever take the time to read this board? Too funny!
Trying to get over my disappointment from the Jungle Cruise fiasco and desperate to get that tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room song out of my head....we made a beeline for Pirates. Nothing cures the sad soul like a little bit of pirate treachery!
It was just past 6:00 pm and there was NO LINE at all for POC! How did we manage that?? We cruised through the queue area and right onto a waiting boat. Now...I like a walk-on ride as much as the next guy, but you miss a lot of cool stuff when you skip the queue! Pirates did NOT disappoint and we LOVED every minute of our ride. My favorite scene is the scene with the town on fire...SO COOL! And Captain Jack looks eerily real! LOVE IT! We disembarked and spent some time in the gift shop. Jonah purchased a Captain Jack Sparrow sword which he promptly put on his belt and carried around for the next several days!
The boys wanted to ride the Magic Carpets of Aladdin so we headed there to see what the wait was like. This is one of those rides that we did not do in 2007, but figured wed do this time if the standby line was fairly short. It was only a 15 minute wait so the boys got in line while Jeff and I found a spot along the fence to watch. They enjoyed the ride and we explored the market at Agrabah for a little while before we felt ready to head out of Adventureland.
I make a 3x5 card for each day with our Touring Plan and our plan for this day ended with POC then Wishes at 9:00. It was only 6:45 and we had accomplished EVERYTHING on our card and then some! With some time to kill before finding a spot for Wishes, we decided to head to Toontown and see if we could find any characters. We had not seen that many and figured now was a good time to character hunt since we had done all the attractions we wanted to for the day.
On our stroll to Toontown, we passed through Frontierland and took this picture of the boys.
Funny story...well, funny now, not so funny then. I was waiting for a chance to get BOTH boys in the stocks for a picture. Everytime one side opened up someone jumped in....it happened over, and over, and over again! Finally, I told Isaiah to get in the stocks and Id get Jonah in as soon as I could and snap the picture. Well...someone did NOT like the idea of Isaiah waiting for me and he went right up to Isaiah and said can you move, were trying to take a picture? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? We had been standing there for a good 5 minutes waiting to take a picture ourselves!! How could he not recognize that?? Jeff was off in the not so far distance and watched the whole thing transpire....he saw how irritated I was! I was about to be NOT SO MAGICAL on someones behind! GRRR......anyway....I finally got the picture I wanted. (But look at it again...can you see the exasperation on Isaiah's face?!) It took me a while to calm down....Im lucky my DH is a good listener and he let me vent!
Up NEXT....what a way to end the day!
