Hi girls and
to all of the new Divas! For those of you who don't know me (or have forgotten who I am since it feels like I'm never around these days), my name is Jane. I work fulltime+ as the Asst. Director of student activities on a college campus and I am also the mom to a very high spirited and active 2 year old named Ty.
Things are even more crazy than normal at work since sorority recruitment is just a week away. We already have about 250 girls registered and we still have a week to go. Last year was the biggest recruitment in school history and we are on pace to break that record, so it is keeping me hopping. I have go through several steps to ensure that each women is eligible to participate including running a grade check on every single woman in our university database. It can be kind of time consuming, but it's also really exciting to see our Greek community growing and thriving after all of the hard work that my staff and I have put in over the past 3 years.
Meanwhile, Ty is still struggling a little in school and continues to get incident reports at least 3 times a week for biting. I am honestly at my wits end, but all of the parenting books that I have read and just said that it's something that he needs to grow out of on his own. But, as I had to leave work 2 hours early today to pick him up instead of going to my last meeting of the day (which was facilitated by my boss's boss) that is hard to remember. He changed classrooms on Monday and he is now the youngest in his class so that hopefully he would be challenged a little more and doing more advanced activities, but so far it doesn't seem to be helping (yet).
In other news, I did end up getting the Saturn Vue Hybrid and I
it! It is by far the biggest car I have ever driven, but I am quickly getting used to being up higher and it actually felt weird when I ended up driving my Cavalier home from dinner tonight. Ty is absolutely in awe of the built in DVD player and I am trying hard not to let him watch TV in the car too often, but it has come in very handy in a few instances already! I also am loving the fact that I have XM radio and thus can listen to Radio Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffet's station) day and night.
Anyhow, I miss you all! Please don't forget about me as I probably still won't be around much for at least a few more weeks... but I am looking forward to seeing many of you in October!
