*Girls DL Trip* OLD THREAD

Hi Ladies,
I'm really outta the loop right now, I'm trying to do a VERY HARD THING......quitting smoking. I tried to go cold turkey & became very unfunctionable. Gonna have to try something different I guess. Not sure what's new in the zoo here, but hoping everyone is doing ok. I'll try to get myself back into the groove in the next day or so......... Have a great day!!

Good luck with quitting! Breaking an addiction is so hard, especially when it is so easily attainable...that's why I have had such a hard time breaking my addiction to food...it's always around and I am forced to have some everyday for survival!:lmao:

Hello! We are back from the cruise and we had so much fun! I'll post some pictures when I get a chance. Trying to get caught up at work right now.
Welcome home! I'm glad you had a fun time, and I can't wait for pics!!!!!!

Oooo, lady, what's in strawberry pizza?

Our city just had the strawberry festival this weekend...

Is strawberry pizza anything like fruit pizza?
I love making fruit pizza! So easy, and so good!

Strawberry Pizza is super easy and tastey!!!!
I'm lazy, so I use premade sugar cookie dough, and press it into a pyrex dish. Sometimes I use 1 1/2 of the tubes of dough, to make it exta thick. Bake it in the oven until it is done, maybe 25 minutes? Just check it to make sure it doesn't get over-done.
While the crust is baking, make the filling.
1 package cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Whip together and then fold in 1 contained of Cool Whip
Once the cookie is completely cooled, spread the filling on top. I usually use about 1/2 of the filling I just made, and use the rest for fruit dip.
Slice strawberries in 1/2 and cover the filling.
Cover the whole thing with Marie's Strawberry Glaze.
Keep refrigerated until ready to eat.

My assistant is meeting with an OB/GYN oncologist right now. She was scheduled for a hysterectomy tomorrow--and during her pre-op last week they did an ultrasound and found a mass above her uterus. She tried to have an MRI on Friday, but was so claustropohbic she couldn't do it. She did an "open" MRI today, but even that took five hours because she had to stop and start. She had an appointment with the specialist at 2 p.m. to get the results--surgery has been postponed in the meantime.

I'm sorry to hear this, Cheryl. She is in my prayers.

OK, breaks over, and I gotta get back to work!

Cheryl~ I hope everything is ok with your assistant. She is going through a lot right now.

Yup it was me...and I know what you mean...for a while there I couldn't close my eyes without seeing jewels!

To everyone with temps in the 100's - that is CRAZY:scared1: I mean, it's only May!!! We had temps around 75 yesterday which was strange for this time of year and perfect for my DS's birthday party! You should all come move up here!

One think I noticed when trying to eat better is that is the time when I get an incredible urge to bake!!! Cake balls, strawberry pizza, brownies, etc...I mean really people!

Huh, just looked outside and it is raining! After the gorgeous day we had yesterday that is a major change and I am just so happy it was so nice out! At least now I don't have to worry about watering my flowers.

I am really glad all the people near the earthquake are ok.

For all of you getting ready to graduate or having family that is graduating...I am thinking good thoughts for that change in your lives.

Less than 4 months till our trip!!!!:yay::woohoo::banana:

It was really nice here all weekend. Its 85 today. Its not scorching outside yet. I am sure by the weekend it will be.

I am glad you enjoyed your facial!

Afternoon everyone!

First off many prayers Cheryl to your assistant. That is scary and I can DEF relate to the claustrophobia. Have that myself. I hope it all works out for her and that she is ok!

Speaking of cancer and such did you guys hear that Ethan from Survivor Africa has cancer? So sad. I hope he will be ok!!

Anyway back to here, I know what you guys mean about the heat. It was like 107 to 110 depending what part of town you were in here yesterday. BLASTING! Today it is over 100. Again depending on where you are. Luckily they are saying it should be back in the 80's later in the week. WHEW! Not ready for the 100's JUST yet. BLEH!

I feel for all of you that have to deal with that all the time. I could NOT deal with that constantly. Luckily we only get a few weeks of it every so often and it cools down at night here "most" of the time.

Anyway good luck to all of you who are getting close to graduating as well. Lynn was supposed to graduate next year but that is all over now. It is really sad because we went through all these years and you really hope for your kids to achieve so much and then it is all over. She was an honor student up through 8th grade and at her 8th grade graduation she received all these awards and things. Sometimes I think the graduations are almost more for the parents LOL to be so proud of their kids accomplishments (at least high school any way). I admit I am bummed that she won't graduate but that was her choice. She is in this continuation school and I don't know if she will make it or not. I don't know if they have actual graduations and if she will stick out to actually graduate or if she will take a GED or what. I know that she had the rest of her jr. year to finish and all of her sr. year so I am not sure how long she has to go to finish. I do know that she went to some type of prom for the school and she sent us a picture and she has also gotten a job at KFC so she is at least on somewhat of the right track. So that is a good thing at least.

Anyway off of my tangent LOL.

At lunch mom and I went to AAA and we did get some info (plus I talked to Michelle, THANKS MICHELLE ;) ) and I think we have pretty much figured out where to stay. And the travel lady got us all jazzed up on a whole bunch of other possibilities. I wasn't sure about going to Williamsburg but she said we could just hop on a train and go there or even NY City for the day. Or even Pennsylvania to see the Amish. Oh the possibilities. She said D.C. is so small and everything is so compact that there is a lot you can do in a day trip. Like I said, boggles the mind LOL. So much to do and so little time ;)

Anyway that's about it for me. Just waiting on Shane to get home and then we have to start eating super early now cuz swim starts earlier as of this week. We have to be there at 5:25 now but the good thing is at least we will be done earlier.

Anyway see ya all later. :)

That does sound good, and similar to the fruit pizza. Thanks!

Oh man. I so want to go home and make Strawberry pizza now!

Francine (my assistant) just called--we still don't know anything definitive. The surgeon was a little more neutral about whether the mass (which is on an ovary) is cancer or not--her regular doc was line "c" word all the way even before the MRI. The surgery is now scheduled for Friday.

Holy moly, that sounds gooood right now. I just read it to my Mom. She's Miss Cook/Bake/everything else in the kitchen lady. :yay:

:woohoo: Finally caught up! And it only took me a little over an hour! Of course - I was distracted by kids quite often.:)

Nothing exciting going on around here. Looking forward to this weekend when my dh and I are going to Tahoe alone! :woohoo:
And then on the 29th the whole family heads to DL!:cool1:

Cheryl, hopefully everything goes well for Francine. The surgeon would likely be a little more cautious before saying anything because truthfully, they will not know for sure what it is until they have a tissue biopsy or some sort of sample to verify. I'm glad her surgery is scheduled so soon for her - less time to stress. :flower3:

You Divas are killing me with your baking - makes me look bad (I guess I shouldn't worry - DH and DS will never see it ;))

But but . . . Theresa--this recipe isn't really "baking"--come on, buying sugar cookie dough and pressing it in a pan--you can do that! Make some pudding from a box and mix in the cool whip-slice up some berries and pour glaze over it (or not in my case--too sweet). Done! JUST DO IT!!!!

You can do it. The recipe doesnn't look that difficult. If you want to impress and not hassle to much I have the world's super easiest cobbler recipe. Let me know.

Cheryl - Your asst will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Stacerita: Kinda. But I can see why they wouldn't alert staff that they are selling. Especially if they are told that the staff would be kept. Most practices would would without the owner, but not the staff. They staff is what people keep coming back too. And if they are told ahead of time, they might quit and leave the practice hanging, which could hurt the sale and the others' jobs. Its not uncommon to not tell staff.

That makes sense ~ thank you! :thumbsup2

Me either. That would make a cute tag by the way. ;)

Now that's a great idea! ::yes:: Put the whole thing under my DIS name?
Thanks!!

Oh, how scary. Will for sure hold her near in prayer.

MMMMMM cobbler....I, too, have a super easy cobbler recipe that is delish! If I lived closer I would bring it to the Meet and Greet...but with how far away I live it is a no go. Apple Maggot Quarintine Area Do not transport homegrown fruit...Believe it or not my fifth grade teacher made that into a song that we had to sing in a round while sitting around a campfire. Scary, I know! :scared1:

Lets swap cobbler recipes.

I want to make a good cobbler. Apple, please. I'll pass on the maggots, Sarah!

Cheryl, I so hope Francine is ok. Sending lots of pixie dust her way.pixiedust:

Laurie, same to you as quitting smoking is VERY HARD. My DH tried at least 4 or 5 times over the past 10 years and we are hoping he is successful this time. He's been smoke free for about a year, but man, does he groove on his nicotine gum. Can't leave home without it!
