Hi Everyone! My family and I are geeks. We love Star Wars. As we get closer to the one day opening of Star Wars Land, Avatar Land, and all the future attractions, we are happy for the distractions that are popping up around WDW!!

ETA: Since we also love the movie Frozen and all the attractions and Frozen fun at Disney, I changed the title.

Today was a big day with the opening of Launch Bay, and we were there for it. We arrived later than I had hoped. I was trying for rope drop. But I'm the ONLY morning person in the family. We arrived to the parking lot shortly after 9am and headed straight to the Launch Bay. We were greeted by very happy and enthusiastic CM and a sign that showed a 20 minute wait.

The queue was winding, but there were plenty of pictures to admire throughout. There were vendors and new order stormtroopers as well!

We were stopped outside of the Launch Bay Theater. Here we were told to get into two different rows. The left was for the Dark Side and the Right was for the Light Side. CM would not say who we'd be meeting. But we all assumed Vader and Chewie.

We stayed to the right. Once we were let into the building, we were escorted by a cm right to the Chewbacca queue. The huge line and the sign going into the line looked intimidating. But it really wasn't as bad as it looked. The wait time sad 85 minute, but it actually was about 30 minutes.

DS was given a special mission. He was handed a yellow card to give to the cm inside the meet and greet.

To pass the time while waiting in line, there were trivia screens overhead. DS, DH and the man behind us knew most of the answers. I knew very few. I obviously don't notice the same details my husband and son do while watching the movies. For example, how many horns does Darth Maul have? There were also 2 display cases in the queue, helmets and light sabers.

The Rebel cm costume was the nicest costume I saw. It really stood out. The other costumes seemed so drab. This one had some nice contrasting colors.

It was our turn to see Chewbacca after only about a 30 minute wait. We couldn't help but compare the meet to the SWW meet. In favor of the new meet, it was great to be indoors out of the heat and elements. (It was raining when we first got to DHS.) The trivia screens and relics helped make the time go by faster. The only downside, was Chewbacca's appearance. He doesn't look like Chewie. He looks like just another wookie. He seemed shorter and the face just wasn't right.

After the M&G, we went off to explore the gallery.

Great pictures!! Thanks so much for sharing. Looks like you had a great time, and the Launch Bay itself looks better than I was expecting. Is there a way to bypass the meet & greets and just proceed into the gallery?

It was fun! It was different than I expected. I was expecting the canteen to be a real snack area. But it is a photo-op spot.

Yes, you can bypass the M&G. Just ask a CM and they will direct you where to go.

OMG, I can't wait to go! I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan (my daughter's named after a SW character), I am so excited to see this. Are those Han Solo in carbonite popcorn buckets????

That's cool. There are some great SW names.

Yes, they are! Just like the ones they had last year for SWW.

The Gallery

I assumed that everything in here was a replica, but learned from @yulilin3 that one of the props is actually from the movie! To get to the Chewie meet, they practically ran us through the gallery. There was no time for pictures then. But once we got done with the meet and greet and my son wanted to start playing video games with my husband; I would explore and taking pictures.

On our way to the video games, we bumped into a jawa. Right away, my son asked the jawa if he trades. The jawa said, "yes". My son's day was made! That was always his favorite part of SWW!

He trades one of my husband's 501st trading cards and got a droid part in return. Pretty exciting considering how much it costs to build a droid. There was another jawa, and again it was the same trade, a card for a droid part!

We went into the game room. There is a hallway and a room filled with video games. Plenty of Disney Infinity 3.0 game units to play on. And plenty of laptop video games as well. I'm not much of a gamer, so I'm not sure what game is on the laptops. One was not working and was getting immediate attention.

The consoles are set up for two players so they got started and I went exploring. Somehow I missed one section, because in looking at friend's pictures, I see that there are things I totally didn't see. Here are some of the pictures I took.

Following along... we can't wait arrive in 23 days to check it out for ourselves!

Welcome, it's so much better in person. The attraction is really done up well. It certainly doesn't equal SWW by any means, but it's a good dose of Star Wars. Are you going to book the dessert party?

During SWW 2015 we often went into the Animation Building to cool off. There were 2 rooms between the store and the Animation class. The bigger of the 2, had 3 benches and electrical outlets. We'd sit on a bench to recharge while also charging our phones. Those benches are now gone as are the outlets. They've been replaced by relics of the new movie! The smallest of the 2 rooms, is now an art gallery of Star Wars art.

We were really pressed for time and very briefly I took pictures as we exited while passing through the store. I wanted to get to club Disney before we had to head home.

There was also a life size Boba Fett and a life size stormtrooper for sale. The prices were out of this galaxy!

My husband is a member of the 501st. He really liked the one costume for sale and already has the same jumpsuit for one of his costumes. He'd just need to buy accessories. To buy the whole outfit was quite expensive.

The lifesize storm trooper was $9000
The AT-AT costume was $2750
Tie Fighter costume was $2250
The Vader was $4000

Up next, Club Disney

We did the dessert party in 2014 when we did SWW but we won't be there during that window of time this trip. We will be down from Dec. 26 - Jan. 2. We loved the dessert party before so I'm sure it will be fantastic again. Sad to miss it.

We bought new shirts for our launch bay days - can't wait! Although I still want to wear our SWW ones ("I love you" "I know") ... I bought for my DD5 a stormtrooper head/mask from Kohls that we were hoping to get signed by characters but it looks like they aren't signing, right? :-( DD5 is looking forward to trading again with the jawas - she actually remembers what she got from them at scifi (she was only3.5!) - it's amazing what kids remember sometimes!

So close! Just by a few days.

Yay for new shirts. We only saw Chewie and he didn't sign. I hope to go back again sometime this weekend to see Vader.

The jawas are great, no wonder she remembers the trade at Sci-Fi.

She's already trying to pick out what she should trade with them... we're going to visit Walmart tonight actually to pick a few things out!

Looks like we may be able to see the fireworks after all! I hope that they announce nightly times for it - I really hope it is starting on the 18th and isn't just on the 18th! I'd love to head there after our Osbourne lights dessert party! I just am not sure the logistics with the lights and the fallout from the fireworks... I guess we will have to wait on that.

I saw that on Disney Parks Blog! Says daily after 18th. Yay!

ETA: Club Disney has closed it's doors and is no longer available to guests.

Club Disney

Not only did Launch Bay open Dec 1, but so did Club Disney. This place is great! It's huge, lot of room to dance without crowding. The characters mingled their way around the dance floor dancing with guests. There were huge screens on the wall showing seens from our favorite Disney movies and more.

Sunset Theater is located between Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. Back where Darth's Mall was located when it was in the tent. Or before that, years and years ago, I remember seeing the Wiggles and some other children's groups perform in here when it was a tent. Now it's a beautiful building.

There were plenty of photopass photographers capturing pictures of dancing, painting, and guests as they enter.
