**Faith and Max's 12.22.12 Swan/Garden Grove/ADH Wedding!!** UPDATED 16!!

Happy Monday ladies!!

We're Baaaack! And we had a great time!
Mini-TR
Friday:
Pretty uneventful. We left around 6, stopped for gas and McDonald's and then were on our way.

We got in around 9pm and checked in with no problems! We stayed in the 50s building which was fun as we've never stayed there before. After we dropped our stuff off in the room we headed over to the food court and the gift shop!

It was BUSY! We were shocked that people were eating dinner that late. :rotfl: We had some hot chocolate (Disney has the BEST hot chocolate!!), watched Stacey on TV, and went to bed.

Saturday:
Our alarm was set for 6:45am but we always wake up earlier when we know we're going to the parks!! Apparently, we're those kids from the 90s Disney commercials who "can't sleep because they're so excited!".. anyone remember those? :lmao:

We grabbed some breakfast at POP! Max had the Bounty Platter which had pretty much everything on it. I was on the hunt for a Mickey Head Waffle but settled for this instead... see how I made it into a Mickey Head waffle? :rolleyes1

We drove to EPCOT and were there about 30 minutes before Rope Drop and got in line. It was a gorgeous day! Chilly but not too bad! We rode Spaceship Earth first, then went to Test Track, and did a little shopping.

We had been wanting to start collecting Vinylmations and wound up buying two. The one I wanted was the Park Sign one and well....

Look at that! Disney Magic at it's finest! I picked a random box and pulled out the Park Sign! I was SO EXCITED and talked about it the rest of the day.

Max got MuppetVision 3D and was really pleased! He wanted Donald in PhilharMagic but we love the Muppets so we were still happy!

We spent the afternoon walking around World Showcase and trying the food at the F&W and shopping.

We wound up trying:
1. Lamb chop from Australia-- loved it!
2. Cheddar Cheese Soup from Canada-- we weren't too impressed. I was so excited to try it after reading the DIS reviews but it was a little too spicy for me at the end. Glad we tried it though!
3. Baklava from Morocco-- loved it!
4. Pretzel Sausage from Germany-- Max tried this and really liked it! I don't get near sausage that looks like that so I can't offer my opinion
5. Swedish meatballs from Scandinavia-- these were good! I am used to Swedish meatballs being prepared differently (Max's mom is from Finland) but we still enjoyed them.
6. Pot-stickers from China-- loved it! These were my favorite!!
7. Chinese BBQ Chicken from China-- loved it! Really yummy.

Here's Max wishing he was Canadian!

We then went back over to Future World, rode TT and Spaceship Earth again, got ice-cream, and spent time at the Living Seas.

After, we rode Living with the Land twice (it's my favorite) and ate at Seasons. We also saw Captain EO for the first time. We were too young to see it/remember it when it was at the parks originally.. I like Michael Jackson and am glad we saw it but we wouldn't watch it again! :rotfl: Max had fun taking pictures and messing with the color effects:

We didn't stay for fireworks.. too cold for me (FL girl-born and raised!) and we were pooped. We went back to POP! and promptly fell asleep.

Sunday:
We went to DTD for the Festival of the Master's! We were only interested in seeing the Disney Art so we headed straight there. We wound up being pretty disappointed. :guilty: They just moved art pieces from the Art of Animation store into tents. We saw 2 artists but didn't get a chance to speak with them. We didn't purchase anything as we weren't crazy about the prints and couldn't afford the real pieces! :rotfl2:

We wound up eating at T-Rex Cafe and had a blast!! We were seated in the Ice Cavern and loved that it changed colors! I had tortellini and Max had guacamole burger. We sprang for dessert and got the Meteor Bites which are donut holes covered in powdered sugar. They were INCREDIBLE!!

Make it blue!

After that, we hit the road and went home. :sad2: Max is planning a surprise trip for us in December so I'm not too sad to leave but it is always sad to go-- even though you know you're going back soon!

POP! Review for Tricia (and everyone else)!
We are DVC members but decided to save points to use for the wedding. We got a great deal at POP! by using Hotels.com ($170 for 2 nights). We liked POP! because of the theming!

It was clean and the grounds were well taken care of. They were refurbishing the pool and the Tramp statue in the 50s courtyard. I like to see refurbs as I know it means things are going to improve.

The food was fine and typical and the CMs were all helpful and nice!!

The room was very clean and quiet for the most part-- aside from the kids running down the halls but heck, I'd run down the halls out of excitement too!

We forgot to take pictures (sorry!) but really felt that we got a good deal and definitely enjoyed our stay. We'd go back again in a heartbeat.

Tricia- I think most guests will be happy with POP! as long as they know what they're paying for, you know? If they go in expecting the Grand FL, they'll be disappointed. It's got the makings of a great value resort and really does deliver!

The Art of Animation Resort
So, the first night we were there we saw a building across the lake from POP! We were intrigued, of course, and decided to investigate on Sunday. We were so excited to learn that it was the new Art of Animation Resort!

We are Animation buffs and were thrilled when this resort was announced. We haven't been keeping up with the progress of it, however, and we were excited to see it in person!

Here are some pictures we took! It's clear that the Nemo building is just about done and that Cars is next on the list for completion. I cannot wait to see this resort when it's finished!!

We have more photos of the resort as well as food and us being silly on my Facebook. If you care to see them or want to be friends, feel free to add me!: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002180263440

That's pretty much it for today!! We are taking Engagement pictures on Sunday and we're REALLY excited! In addition, my MOH is coming into town on the 16th for Thanksgiving! Woohoo!! :cheer2:

Thanks for reading! :grouphug:

Sounds like a fun trip. I will have to check out the pictures later because my work blocks all of FB.

Sounds like you guys had fun! We didn't even make it over to Epcot, would you go back to the F&W fest again? We're still wondering if we should try to get there one year.

I hate firewalls!! Hope you have a good day at work!

It's funny you ask as we talked about it a lot... honestly, I would NOT plan a trip around the F&W Festival. It worked out nicely that it was going to be happening while we were there but we didn't enjoy it that much to really plan to go again.

The food was good and we did enjoy it but I didn't think it was too special. In all honesty, I would've rather sat at a Table Service and just relaxed instead of trying to find a table, not have my food knocked over by the crowds, etc. Nit-picky but true.

It was a fun experience but it wasn't too exciting for us.

Aw, it looks like such a fun trip! The road sign is one of my faves from Park 6 vinylmation, and also the first one I got in the series! Hehe you will be addicted :lmao:

The food and wine stuff sounds really good, someday I would love to go during it. And I love seeing pictures of the new Art of Animation resort, that is so exciting!

Sounds like you guys had fun! I love the Art of Animation resort, thank you for posting pictures!

I sent you a FB friend request, can't wait to see the rest of your pictures. I somehow NEVER remember to take pictures of the food.

I had a blast while there too, we got a free upgrade to Beach Club Resort CL! I couldn't believe it.

Hooray for Disney trips! I am so glad you have fun and I hope you are there when we are there in december that would be awesome. I am getting ready to post our plans for our up coming disney trip.

Teresa

Hello! You guys are adorable, and it looks like you had so much fun!!! Pop! looks pretty good too, I'll have to keep it in mind when I'm looking to go up for a cheap weekend :) Can't wait for Animations though!! When does it open again? I definitely want to check it out :thumbsup2 Yeah my parents are pretty into the Food and Wine festival but I can see why it wouldn't be that exciting  I haven't gotten so into the vinylmations- I don't like that I don't know what I'm getting :rotfl: but that's amazing that you got it on your first try! definitely disney magic at work!! How is T-Rex? I actually haven't been there yet (except to build a dino :P)-is it better than Rainforest cafe? Or just the same? Can't wait to see you in two days and see the engagement pictures!! :goodvibes :lovestruc

P.S. I'm very impressed with the waffle ;) Can't believe no mickey heads though!! :confused3

Yay!! Thanks so much!! I'm hoping by your review that our guests might even expect a little less and be happily surprised! I know you can't really go wrong with Disney so I am glad just because the resort is less expensive, everyone will still have a good experience! :goodvibes

LOVE your pics of the new Art of Animation resort, I didn't know there were any lakes over there or etc, I wonder if they will end up having any boats between them?

Yay for your engagement pictures!! Can't wait to see them!! :woohoo:

I accepted your request, I think! Feel free to drool over the food porn! :cool2:

I really hope we're up there too!! It would be so fun to meet you guys! I read your plans and they look great. It will be December before you know it!

POP! is great for a quick trip!!

I read that the first wave of Animations opens in May!! SO EXCITED! :woohoo: Max was like "can't we stay here for the wedding?!".. Animal Kingdom Lodge traitor. I told him no. :lmao:

Yeah, Vinylmations are scary because there's such a cost! You can trade them in the park though, which kind of helps, but Max has decided that we're just going to buy them off eBay. Safer and cheaper! :thumbsup2

T-REX was fun!! Everything, including the food quality, was the same as Rainforest but with dinos instead!

Now we're down to one day!!

I think your guests will be happily surprised, and you're right, you can't ever go wrong with a Disney resort!!

There is a bridge that will connect the two. It's called "Generation Gap Bridge"! :goodvibes

Thanks girlie!

Faith sweetie - Just catching up!! Looks like you had an amazing trip!!! I have only been to the F & W Festival once and loved it!!!
The Art of Animation buildings look like they are coming along really nicely!!
Love the Minnie London sweatshirt!!! Have you been over here in the past then?

Hi Jo!

I've been to England 3x and absolutely adore it! We've only been to London and a few of the surrounding areas so the next time we go I'd like to visit the countryside!

I keep telling Max that we need to move to England and I think he's strongly considering it! :thumbsup2 We don't know how the legal/visa process would work but we would like to spend some time there that isn't just for vacation! Seriously, it's one of my most favorite places to be. I am a Tudor history buff so I really love to go soak in the historic sites which I'm sure are just tourist attractions to you (the Tower, Hampton Court, etc) :rotfl:

We're hoping to get back after the wedding and before kids! ;)

Love the signpost Vinylmation!

Great mini TR.
Thanks Claire! pixiedust:

Oh wow, this looks like such a fun trip! DF and I have stayed at Pop a bunch of times due to being poor college kids. :lmao: I really like it too--- it's clean, and it's a room, and that's all that really matters! (Well, this is what I tell myself... but we are certainly not staying at Pop for our honeymoon.)

I'm sorry the Festival of the Masters wasn't nearly as awesome as you thought it would be!

And, just a quick note: I'm also a huge Tudor buff, but I haven't been to England. :( You'll probably appreciate this--- I bought a signed copy of Philippa Gregory's new book over the weekend! I was quite excited.

So sorry for "creeping" on your conversation with someone else, :lmao: but I just wanted to say that I "lived" in England for 3 months when I studied abroad and it was amazing! I was in Oxford and I loved it. Since I was living there I got to experience both the tourist side of things but also felt like I lived there, so that was really nice. Oxford was an amazing place, I would love to go back someday. I think that if I wouldn't miss my family so much I would move to England in a heartbeat.

I know the legal/visa issues can be pretty tricky. My friend has been living in France for over a year now but she gets so stressed with that stuff. Hopefully you can figure it out, that would be amazing to live in England for awhile!

Ok now I am the creeper. I love london and englad in general. I have only been once but I can not wait to go back! I love the feeling of the country and I would totally move there! I can't wait to go back I kinda wish we were going for our honeymoon.

We've stayed at our fair share of "Poor College Kid" hotels! Including some scary off property ones.. but hey, still got to the World so it was worth it! :lmao: Now that DFi has an "adult" job we splurge a little.

Ahh!! I love Philippa Gregory! My mom keeps asking if I want the new book for Christmas. It's awesome you got it signed! Too cool!! She's a fantastic author. The Boleyn Inheritance is my favorite!

Creep away!! I love it!

AHH! That's so cool. I would've loved to study abroad but didn't have time. It sounds like you had an awesome experience.

Yeah, it'd be really hard to leave my parents if we did decide to move, so that is a disadvantage. We do hope that maybe we can spend a year there sometime. :yay:

More creepers! I love you all-- we're all too alike. :grouphug:

I wish we were going there for our honeymoon as well but I know we'd freeze (I don't handle the cold well.. :rolleyes1) and flights are just so expensive, especially over Christmas. We're hoping one Spring break or summer we can have a Honeymoon Pt. 2 there!

Faith sweetie
On your next visit to England, come stay with us!!! We live in a 300 year old cottage with open fires. It gets very cold in the winter so either come in the summer or bring plenty of warm clothes!!! We live in the beautiful Lake District and are within easy distance of Scotland (about 30 miles from the border and 110 miles from Edinburgh). I really mean it - I would love to have you come to stay!!!
I am a Tudor buff too, particularly Anne Boleyn. I love the Tower, Hampton Court etc. any excuse to visit them!!!!

Hi Faith, sorry it's been such a long time since I posted. I've requested you as a friend on FB.

Sounds like you had a great time during your trip. Btw I love POP, I think the theming is fab, you've got some great shots of the Art of Animations resort. I forgot to take pics when we went because I was too busy staring at it. It's going to be awesome when its complete.

I'm with you on Captain EO. We saw it for the first time and I think I can live without seeing it again :lmao:

If you want to live in England we can swap? I wouldn't mind living where you are for a little while ;)

Looking forward to reading more xx
