Exploring the High Seas without the Magic- 9 Nights on RCI 8/4/11 Complete! 4/24!

SO loving your report!! And so happy to finally find someone else who doesn't find the savory bites to be "all that." :thumbsup2

You all looked so wonderful for formal night!! I've always gotten DS really nice suits off of Ebay for formal nights, and this past cruise talked him and his bff into wearing tuxes. They thought it was weird -- until girls complimented them on formal night in their "James Bond" wear. They were hooked after that, lol. We get so little chance to dress up back here in the "real world" -- I'll never ever understand the folks who think formal night is a big pain. I can dress casual any old day!!

Isn't breakfast on that aft balcony just the BEST?? What a way to start the day...

Thanks for taking so many pics -- You are making me exponentially more excited about our Mariner cruise!! I am bad about taking pictures -- I am hereby vowing to do way better next time, so I can come back and give an awesome review too!! :goodvibes

Keep it comin', girlie! :yay:

Wow, i miss a couple days and you're halfway home already! Racing to get ahead of Irene? I hope everything was safe in your neck of the woods. I have to call a cousin tonight in VA Beach to see how they rode it out.

I'm not good at the whole quote thing, so my random thoughts below.

Love the "white" plate! DS still sticks with the orange palate. (Mac & cheese, cheese doodles, carrot sticks, pizza with orange cheese, you get the idea!)

MMM Bread! I'm Italian and us Italian girls love our carbs! The food porn with the sammies looks delish!:thumbsup2

The boys looked so handsome in their tuxes! Very urbane. You and the MR. didn't look too shabby either!

I saw what book you're reading! I just finished it up! Have you figured it out yet? :confused3 MHC is one of my favorites, and she keeps you guessing right until the end! No spoilers from me!

Gotta go get JR ready for the first day of school tomorrow. I'll lose my AM DISboard time to making PBJ sandwiches and packing bookbags! :sad1:

You need to give a food porn warning for us folks trying to shed a few lbs...

At least the iPad screen is now clean. ;)

Are you referring to the "terminator captain"?

All I ask is he knows how to drive the boat...:thumbsup2

That's a good name for him- Terminator Captain- he is very stoic! I agree, steering the ship is a giant plus as a Captain- it was just nice to see that a Captain could be human, too.:goodvibes

I have to say I am really intrigued by the whole cruising out of NYC idea. Plus this looks like you are off to a fabulous trip.

The pools looks a tad crowded, but since you can escape to that wonderful aft balcony - WOW! And breakfast on the balcony - it looks perfect!

All the food looks delish and all the shops, bars, ect look like so much fun.

Bermuda looks super cool. I was there years and years ago, but I don't remember I think except the dark rum!

Really enjoying this TR. Need to figure out exactly where it is on the boards. :rotfl:

Bermuda was spectacularly gorgeous- I am so happy we finally got to see it for ourselves!:cloud9:

And this TR is on the Community Board...way down here in the underbelly of the DIS....

I am so loving that veranda, I don't think that I would ever leave the room!

I, to, really like the formal nights aboard ship. So many don't to dress up & I loved the chance of getting the sons in suits for once.

Tyler looks like he is thinking, "Bond, James Bond".

That was a really great verandah- it has completely spoiled us for future cruises!

And he was thinking, Bond, James Bond- I think he may have even been saying that when we took the pic! :rotfl:

ITA- we can wear shorts and tshirts any day- and EVERYDAY- so why not take the opportunity to do something outside the norm when you can?? :confused3

Isn't breakfast on that aft balcony just the BEST?? What a way to start the day...

It really was- and it was an actual breakfast, so I give them double bonus points for that!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for taking so many pics -- You are making me exponentially more excited about our Mariner cruise!! I am bad about taking pictures -- I am hereby vowing to do way better next time, so I can come back and give an awesome review too!! :goodvibes

That would be GREAT!! :goodvibes Sometimes I really feel like I take too many pics, but then when I get home and look through them all, I always feel like I didn't take enough! So I am glad to hear when it's enjoyable- and not desperately dull!

Keep it comin', girlie! :yay:

Yea- we're all good here- perpared for the worst, and were blessed to not need any of it- we all slept together downstairs, and we never even lost power. We were very, very fortunate!

I'm not good at the whole quote thing, so my random thoughts below.

Love the "white" plate! DS still sticks with the orange palate. (Mac & cheese, cheese doodles, carrot sticks, pizza with orange cheese, you get the idea!)

That's another of Tim's favorite colors to eat!! :rotfl2:

MMM Bread! I'm Italian and us Italian girls love our carbs! The food porn with the sammies looks delish!:thumbsup2

I was REALLY impressed with the bread choices on the ship- waaaay better than Disney (oops- did I say that out loud??). :rotfl:

The boys looked so handsome in their tuxes! Very urbane. You and the MR. didn't look too shabby either!

Thanks!

I saw what book you're reading! I just finished it up! Have you figured it out yet? :confused3 MHC is one of my favorites, and she keeps you guessing right until the end! No spoilers from me!

I finished it on the third day or so- right after I had turned to my friend and complained about having figured it all out at the beginning,,,and then BAM! She got me!! :rotfl: I really enjoy her books- I met her at a book signing once, we had a nice chat about infertilty (her daughter was using the same practice we used for IVF). A kind and talented woman-

Gotta go get JR ready for the first day of school tomorrow. I'll lose my AM DISboard time to making PBJ sandwiches and packing bookbags! :sad1:

Yuck- we start next Tuesday- I hate that summer flies by! :headache:

In case you didn't notice, we are a NJ family- that's right, I am a REAL Real Housewife of NJ, and my DH is a REAL NJ Houseman.
:rotfl2:

Anyway....for years I have wanted to try a cruise out of either NYC or, better yet, Bayonne, NJ- no flying, no weighing of suitcases, no overnights before the trip- just throw the 50 tons of luggage in the car and drive to vacation in under an hour. How great does THAT sound? Well, let me tell ya...it's really all that and a bag of chips!

I've said it before and i'll say it again, CAN'T.IMAGINE.FLYING.WITH.CRUISE.LUGGAGE!!!
I mean, we could just not do it. Our baggage fees would cost more than the cruise. Although I will say I am trying hard this time to pack smarter and pack lighter*

*At least this cruise we don't have 40 pounds of Halloween candy to get onboard!!! :rolleyes1

Pods dropped us and our 50 tons of luggage at the curb,
Amateur. That's not even 10 bags!!!!!!:rotfl2:

....and it was not even 2:00!! We LOVE this travel day!!! So far this vacation ROCKS!! We passed by the Medical Facility .....

Where we reminded Tim he was on his own on this cruise if he even thought about visiting here

:lmao:Poor Timmy!

On my tour the year before, the RCI rep had taken us into all the suites, and all the cabins....but there was one that REALLY stood out. The AFT D1 cabin(s) on Deck 10- they are configured differently, and they have a bigger balcony- and I was THRILLED to be staying in one! But....would it be noisy? Would it get sooty? Would it be extra hot back there, especially in freaking AUGUST???

Ummm...the answers are no- no- and no. We LOVED it back there-

Yeah you can't get any better than that! And on Freedom class (and probably Explorer's class too) the aft D1's are the same price as other D1's! DEAL! (On Oasis class they are on to that and the pricing scheme is different- there are no true aft rooms as those are suites, but the "Humps" are the only D1's- all the regular balcony rooms are D2 or below.)

It was so big, I couldn't get it all to fit in the photo! Out here there were 2 chairs, 2 lounge chairs, and a really nice size table (that we LOVED using for room service breakfast most mornings!).

Happy with all that we saw, we left our stripper-pole cabin and headed up one deck to lunch in the Windjammer...

Such an awesome room!!!!!
We went through the line and found a table by a window with no problem, but here was our mistake- we should have walked further INTO the area, because at the back of the restaurant were many, many more options to choose from. Of what we had, nothing really stood out, other than the honey stung chicken- not that it was the best chicken ever, but just that it tasted pretty good. Here are our plates-

Ron thought HSC was overrated. I really liked it, but then I got mine fresh out of the kitchen (I am an empty pan stalker). On Allure we can order it from room service! :thumbsup2

And Timmy? Well...he had WHITE for lunch-
Really? Even saltines? OMG, Tim!

Haha!!!!!

A view across to NYC-

IMG_4071.jpg

Awesome!!!!!

We were all up on deck 12 for the big sailaway and, of course, more happy, quality family time.

We were approaching the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, and it really felt like we would NEVER make it underneath, but of course, we did, to loud cheers from all the pax onboard- on this cruise, clearing the bridge means our vacation had officially begun!!

It's not a Disney sailaway party but man what a view!! Stunning! (Of course I've never been to NYC except for a layover at LaGuardia so it's impressive to me!!!)

Oh, did they have a big blue and yellow headless teardrop shaped inflatable "character" dancing on the pool deck during your sailaway party?? They did on Independence. We didn't see it live (or I would have a pic so you didn't have to think WTH??? when you read my description of "it") but...uh...yeah..it was....well...not quite up to par with the level of sailaway character experiences we've had on Disney (I saw it on my cruise in review DVD and was like...wow guys look what we missed during sailaway...that "thing" and 12 ladies doing the macarena.:rotfl2:

The boys were so sad to have to leave us, but went to look for something to do in Optix anyway.

Optix is such a strange name. Sounds like an eyeglass manufacturer.

Pods & I had a date with those butt magnets they have in the comfy lounge chairs at the adult pool, known as the Solarium pool...

Those magnets have quite a strong pull! We never got to the Solarium last time. I trust the kids club will resolve that issue this time around.
On the way we passed the ice cream, which Pods says was frozen yogurt, but came in a couple of different flavors...

Love the strawberry....DCL are you listening?!?!?

The Royal Promenade is very elaborate, and it feels like you are walking down a street with shops and bars everywhere-

Yes, the Promenade is Awesome!

Pods had some pizza, which he said was not so great-
No. It sure isn't Tony Manero paint can holding fold it and eat it with one hand while you walk the streets of the city to "Stayin' Alive" good....but there's nothing better at 2 AM.

(okay there's nothing ELSE at 2 AM).
I knew not to get that, and went for a couple of yummy little sammies instead-

I have to say, RC excels at anything on bread- and just bread in general. There was always such a variety at every meal! We all really enjoyed this throughout the cruise.

^This. those sammies! Man we had some ham & cheese croissants from Prom. Cafe on Indy and I swear they were the best in the WORLD.

Afterwards, I really wanted to get everything unpacked and situated in the cabin (I always feel like I truly can't relax on vacation until this chore is behind me) so we both retreated upstairs to deck 10. On the way, we noticed it had become night on the RP-

I thought it was very cool that they would change the lighting in there to make it feel like day or night-

Or on some ships the option is "rainbow" or "non-rainbow".

Back in Cabin 1688, we were surprised to find two VERY grumpy, VERY bored boys who were wining and complaining about EVERYTHING. There was nothing to do, there was no one to do it with, the kids club stinks, there's nothing on the boring tv, there's nothing to do on this ship, there's no good food and on and on and on....

Admit it, they missed all their built in Dis friends they are used to having. :lmao:

Oh. Crap.
I have booked us into 9 days of THIS???

LOL!

But....they really had not given anything a chance yet. The kid stuff was really not beginning until that night, and we sat down and explained that there would be alot more going on tonight- and that they would get to me a TON of kids then (it's a BIG ship, it's August, I'm thinking there will be a few kids on board, KWIM?). In the meantime, Pods took them to get ice cream, which did help some (they WERE hungry- and they could not find the food!) Actually, I think they also went into the Windjammer and Timmy got a burger as well. In their defense, the ship doesn't make it easy to find the snacks unless you know the ropes. Where Disney has all those wonderful fast options at Goofy's, Pluto's, Pinocchio's, etc, all right by the pool, the Explorer has nothing like that. Maybe that's part of why the pools are bigger? :confused3

Yeah I did miss running to Plutos for those chicken strips while at the pool on RCCL. Allure does have the Wipeout Cafe up on deck by the Flowriders so that should help.

At 8:30 it was time for dinner, we were in the DaGama Dining Room on Deck 4. Deck 3 was Magellan, and Deck 5 was Columbus- and also had My Time Dining, which means you have different servers and different tablemates every night, but can also eat at whatever time you like rather than the assigned main dining at 6:15 or late at 8:30. I am an eternal optomist and was personally hoping to have wonderful servers like we did on our first Magic cruise, so we went with a regular seating time (I also didn't want to have to think about what time dinner should be every night with My Time, which you must do for the whole cruise if you want that. I like having as little responsibility as possible on cruise vacations, KWIM?).

Well...we could tell within MINUTES that we had really and truly lucked out with our servers.

Oh- I adored them, especially our main server, Fan. Really REALLY loved them! How wonderful is that?

I'm glad you had such an amazing dining experience. We love MTD. Wish Disney offered it!! Don't expect to be in the dining room much for this next cruise though (too many other options).

We were seated at a table for 8, and as we watched people walk up to us...and then walk by us....we started to hope we'd actually be alone. I had thought it would be nice to meet some new people....but then, I realized that chances are, this would be the only time we'd see each other on the cruise some days, and I hated to give that alone time up.

Fortunately, we didn't have to. The other 4 at our table? They never showed up. EVER. Not even once! Well, what can I tell ya...other than it REALLY worked for us!! :thumbsup2
]

Yes!!! That's great!!! I totally agree, once the kids get older like the ages of ours and they are off doing their thing all day dinner is the only chance to reconnect.

My first course was the Vidalia Onion tart I had read was so good online- and it did not disappoint! Vidalia Onion Tart Sweet onions and Gruyère cheese baked in pastry, with red pepper coulis

Awww...you're making me wish we hadn't scheduled a specialty the first night. LOVE that vidalia onion tart!!!

Tyler ate Grilled Mediterranean Vegetable Quesadilla Folded in a flour tortilla with Manchego cheese and tomato cilantro salsa

He LOVED it, but wished there was more- but decided against ordering another one (although I am sure he could have had 10 of them and Fan would have obliged).

Two words for Tyler- BOMB DIGGITY! I totally had this to eat too last time-and it was a waaay out of the box choice for me- I am not a mediterranean person and I am not a veggie person but I LOVED this!!!!

Our entire meal was complete in less than an hour and a half- we were out of there before 10 pm. AMAZING!!!!!:worship: We felt very, very fortunate after this meal- I literally was ready to pack up Fan and bring her home with us- I absolutely adored her!

Dessert looks so wonderful! And 1 1/2 hours is really booking it. Nice!!!

But going from Disney, where you can practically wheel in a kegger-

Bwahahaha! You should try it on the DisMoms cruise!!!!

But they didn't stay long because it was time to go to the arcade- the 12-14 year old club had an hour of free play and there was NO chance they were missing THAT!

How cool is that!! I wouldn't want to miss it either!!!

And WOW, on the Explorer, there are SO MANY!!! :yay: First, there was a parade-

Love it!

Next we went to check out the Crypt, which I thought was really cool when I took that tour the year before, and I wanted Pods to see it.
love the Crypt- never did get into the dance club on Indy. Totally plan on it on Allure-it's called Blaze and you know I love fire!!!!;)

It was empty in there- and I can promise you, it NEVER was empty again for the rest of the cruise- we had alot of fun all week dancing in that dungeon! :dance3:

Your dance partner wishes she had been there with you! LOL!!

I woke first in the morning, at about 9am and went to grab some breakfast and coffee as well as Ice Show tickets for later in the week, since they were being distributed that morning and ONLY that morning.

Now THAT is a pain in the butt. I think all the ships are going to start to be "Oasis-ized" though so that things like that can be done ahead of time online.

I also brought back a few donuts for the boys. Who were still sleeping. Very, very soundly. So once Pods was awake, he and I decided to go to the gym to work out. Well, can I just say that this gym was VERY different from the one on the Magic, in that it was PACKED!! It seems there were a lot of health conscious pax onboard- or maybe, like me, they had a fancy dress to put on tonight for Formal night and they wanted to get in as many stomach crunches as humanly possible before donning their evening wear.

Ok so the gym and spa on Allure actually has a *CAFE* inside! Is that counter programming or what?!?!? I mean it is healthy food, but geez!

There was open skating at the rink today, so Timmy and I decided to go for it. Since he is 12, I had to stay with him while he skated- but that was no problem for me, because I wanted to skate, too. That's right- I skated with all the kids, while all the other adults in the rink sat in the stands reading books. Go Mom!

Woo hoo!

It was fun! But I think I was probably MUCH better the last time I skated, which was somewhere around 9th grade....

Me too! I stayed very close to the wall! :lmao:

I had heard good things about something called a Tutti Salad, which is actually an elaborate salad bar where the attendants put whatever you want into a bowl, then chop it all up with a pizza cutter.

It was DIVINE. Four different lettuces, fresh mozzerella, creamiest feta EVER, shrimp, chicken, roasted peppers, thinly sliced prosciutto, kalamata olives, ripe tomatoes, grilled asparagus- so, so many choices.

Looks delish!!!!

IMG_4178.jpg

Tutti sald is only offered on Sea Days- and we actually enjoyed it 3 out of 4 of our sea days on this trip- although its popularity grew MUCH stronger as the week went on- we practically had the place to ourselves that first afternoon out on the ocean.
I've found everything on RCCL is that way, especially attractions like Flowrider, Rock walls, etc.

I had to try dessert-

IMG_4179.jpg

It was a raspberry ganache torte, I think, and yum yum, it was soooo good. Hey- I earned it! 1 hour of gym and 30 minutes of ice skating means I'm eating/drinking whatever I want! :thumbsup2

Oh yeah!

There was just one downside to eating lunch in the MDR that day- we missed the belly flop contest. :sad2: That our friend from home, Big Al, WON!!

Aw, that's a bummer!

Yea- that's right- he's the undisputed King of the High Seas- a 7 time Champ!! :worship: :rotfl2: Apparently he made quite a splash-

LOL!!!

We literally waked around for 15 or 20 minutes looking for somewhere to sit together! Of course, there were a LOT of chairs being "saved"...which is wrong- but bottom line, it's a chain reaction. Either save a chair, or spend the day standing while you read! We ran into the boys who were on the scavenger hunt- and who were having FUN, thanks to meeting a bunch of new friends.

Thank the good Lord.

HAHA!

We finally found 2 seats, and relaxed and enjoyed our day. Pods got in the solarium pool-

Yea chair hogging does seem to be worse on RCCL. I prefer Disney's "no saving period" to Royal's "Its ok if you only do it for 1/2 hour" rule.

We never had a problem on our last RCCL cruise, but that was because we were always by the H20 zone. And it was Janauary. :rolleyes1

Eventually we scooted down to CP for afternoon coffee and sammies. This one was one of my favorites, the sunflower seed mini bagel with brie cheese, although the tuna salad was good, too-

LOVE< LOVE< LOVE those CP sammies!!! Did I mention that? I think I did!

Hi Jen! Are you packing yet? :thumbsup2 It will be fun to read all these RC TRs at once- can't wait!

OK so I *finally* started packing this weekend. Lot of laundry to do still. LOT of laundry!!!

So....we were finally in Bermuda! We went down to get off the ship- and realized we should have gotten beach towels the nigt before on Deck 11 for today- RCI makes you check the (crappy, stained, gross) towels out everyday and if you don't give them back, you get charged $20 (because doesn't everyone want to bring home a souvenir of someone else's body fluid/food stain on an RCI towel?). So no handing them out as you're getting off the ship. Pods was a nice hubby and ran up to Deck 11 to get 4, while the 3 of us got off the ship and were molested by the dolphins trying to get a pic with you. Sorry, dude- you're no Mickey, and I am not buying the picture.

Anyway....I had the boys run down and stand in front of...I mean, behind the ship-

IMG_4242-1.jpg

IMG_4243.jpg

Pods showed up, and we joined the throngs of people going over to buy bus passes for $4pp- but then we heard a taxi say they would take us for $6...there was no line with her, so there was no decision for us! In minutes the van was full, and we were on our way to Horseshoe Bay.

IMG_4245-2.jpg

IMG_4246-1.jpg

The good thing about the van? It dropped us at the bottom of the hill right at the beach entrance (the bus drops at the top). The bad thing? Nothing. I just figured if you say good thing? you have to say bad thing? :)

IMG_4250-1.jpg

I knew this beach would be crowded...but I didn't care. I have been waiting since I was a little girl to go to Bermuda to see pink sand- and this is where that pink sand is, on the south side of the island.

IMG_4252.jpg

We sat farr off to the left, and it was much less crowded over there. Pods went to rent chairs for the day ($12 each for reclining sand chairs) and we waited and watched the clouds rolling in....it began to rain (the only rain for our whole vacation!). And Tyler said, "Ok- it's raining. Let's go back to the ship!"

:rotfl2: :lmao:

Good one, Tyler!! Unfortunately...you're FOURTEEN and you are STUCK with us for the day! :lovestruc :rotfl2: Really, the problem was that they had no ball.

My boys need a ball. Or else they are B.O.R.E.D. ANd the night before we left for the cruise, they informed me they had lost the Waboba. Pods told them to put a tennis ball in the beach bag. Two guesses how THAT turned out. So...no ball.

The rain passed, and we went for a walk- I had read that if you keep going left, there are fabulous volcanic rock formations on the beach that are beautiful. I have to say, that little piece of information was spot on.

IMG_4256.jpg

Doesn't everyone look so excited to explore? :rotfl2:

You walked through here....

IMG_4257-1.jpg

And saw this-

IMG_4258.jpg

And came out-

IMG_4259.jpg

It was really, really, really pretty.

IMG_4263.jpg

IMG_4264.jpg

IMG_4265.jpg

IMG_4268-2.jpg

The water was so clear and so clean, and it was so warm- it was paradise.

IMG_4270.jpg

IMG_4271-1.jpg

Still, someone wasn't "feeling" it.

IMG_4272.jpg

Hmmmm.....cont'd next post-

We explored some more...

IMG_4273.jpg

IMG_4263-1.jpg

There were all these cool little pools that would fill up with crashing waves- loved it! We ran into some friends from Scotch Plains (that we had just been introduced to the day before by our other friends) and we took turns taking pics-

IMG_4275.jpg

We realized that part of the issue with cranky Timmy was a lack of food- he really didn't eat all that much for breakfast (because he hates scrambled eggs on a cruise ship- I should have known ) and he was in need of some overpriced chicken fingers and ice cream! That would do the trick! :rotfl: Meanwhile, I enjoyed the peace and quiet...

IMG_4280.jpg

IMG_4281.jpg

Then they were back...and still not quite right! C'MON!!

IMG_4284.jpg

So Pods took Timmy for a climb up the mountain-

IMG_4286.jpg

He went up Grumpy....

IMG_4287.jpg

IMG_4288.jpg

IMG_4289.jpg

IMG_4292.jpg

He came down....

IMG_4294.jpg

TIMMY!!!

IMG_4296.jpg

FINALLY, they wanted to play in the ocean....

IMG_4301-1.jpg

IMG_4304-1.jpg

IMG_4308.jpg

IMG_4312.jpg

And then they did this-

IMG_4313-1.jpg

It was GOOOOOD!

IMG_4316.jpg

Aaahhhh......cont'd next post-

It ended up being such a wonderful day. I was so glad- growing up in NJ, where Bermuda is a popular destination, my parents, Aunts and Uncles all had one vacation they held in high regard above all others- the cruise to Bermuda. I had been hearing about this glorious little island my whole life, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. :goodvibes Pods loved it too- and I can see a lot of Bermuda cruises in our future. :lovestruc Anyway...back to the beach! Ahhhhhhhh......

IMG_4318.jpg

IMG_4320.jpg

IMG_4322.jpg

IMG_4324.jpg

And the sand is pink- it really is. Not neon pink, but a very gentle, pale pink-

IMG_4325.jpg

I know it's hard to see (not only because of the water blob on my lens) but all the little dots on the sand are little, little pieces of that pink.
Our awesome cab driver on the way back explained it to us- there is pink coral off the coast of southern Bermuda. And when the coral sheds, it sheds...pink....that washes up on the beaches.

We had been sitting next to a big volleyball tournament all day, and finally a ball came our way so the boys could attempt to play. Notice I said ATTEMPT. It went like this-

It seems a volley ball is no substitute for a waboba ball for my kids.

IMG_4327.jpg

Sadly, it was getting a bit cloudy again, and, we were getting hungry- so, although it was nearly impossible to drag ourselves off of that Horseshoe Bay Beach...somehow, we did. And grabbed a taxi- who took us over to the Swizzle Inn for lunch and...to check out a famous little cocktail, called a Rum Swizzle. Next!

It looks so beautiful there! Who cares if it's raining lol? My daughter would be pouting the same way :rotfl: The sand looks amazing too!
I was thinking our next trip after Disney would be D.C. but I think we should take another cruise lol

Beautiful Bermuda pics! I love Horseshoe Bay, it is so pretty there, Elbow Beach is nice too, if you get a chance to get there again. The thing about a dedicated Bermuda cruise that is great is you get 2-3 days to explore the island and get to do much more than if it is just one day.

You all look fantastic! Love your dress and I think it's great that your sons will wear a tux for you. Handsome boys you have there.

I think Tyler is going to grow up to be a professional smoothie taster.

My mouth is watering over that roasted duck! It's something I had never tried until I met Den. Now I love it. Is it something you make at home?

Breakfast looks good enough to be tempted to have breakfast in bed everyday.

Bermuda looks beautiful. The water looks so clear.

Glad the day picked up even if a slow start for your boys.

What an amazing day at the beach. It looks so beautiful.

Glad the boys cheered up a little and enjoyed themselves. Seems like once you feed them life is good for everyone again. At least with my family it works like that. ;)

Can't wait to see the Rum Swizzle! :goodvibes

Yea- I will pack lighter next time too- although it's hard to figure out...Tyler ran out of EVERYTHING in like 4 days (due to him changing his clothes nonstop) and Timmy had a full drawer of underwear left at the end. :scared: I'd really rather not talk about that.

*At least this cruise we don't have 40 pounds of Halloween candy to get onboard!!! :rolleyes1

OMG- last year all I could think was you were a SAINT to have done that- Pods would have KILLED me!

Amateur. That's not even 10 bags!!!!!!:rotfl2:

HAHAHA! :rotfl:

:lmao:Poor Timmy!

Explorer was the same pricing- D1 cabin, same price as all the D1s down the hall with a teeny balcony. We did have to book a D1, tho, to put 4 in a cabin- the other balconies didn't have that capability.

Such an awesome room!!!!!

I agree!

Ron thought HSC was overrated. I really liked it, but then I got mine fresh out of the kitchen (I am an empty pan stalker). On Allure we can order it from room service! :thumbsup2

On Explorer you can get it from Room Service, too- that might be fleet wide.

Haha!!!!!

Awesome!!!!!

It's not a Disney sailaway party but man what a view!! Stunning! (Of course I've never been to NYC except for a layover at LaGuardia so it's impressive to me!!!)

That view is kind of like, "There it is again" to us. I feel so jaded and New Yawkish!

No-not that I saw- the only characters were a couple of abusive dolphins hangin by the gangway in Bermuda!

Optix is such a strange name. Sounds like an eyeglass manufacturer.

Personally I think they closed their eyes and randomly pointed in the dictionary--similar to their hiring technique for it (lets see- 1500 kids on board, lets pick 3 names from the phone book and give them a part time job!)

Those magnets have quite a strong pull! We never got to the Solarium last time. I trust the kids club will resolve that issue this time around.

I have to think that Allure is going to be great! Our friends all loved it in April, but their kids don't use the clubs (because they travel in a self-sufficient group).

Love the strawberry....DCL are you listening?!?!?

Yes, the Promenade is Awesome!

No. It sure isn't Tony Manero paint can holding fold it and eat it with one hand while you walk the streets of the city to "Stayin' Alive" good....but there's nothing better at 2 AM.

(okay there's nothing ELSE at 2 AM).

Good to know-

^This. those sammies! Man we had some ham & cheese croissants from Prom. Cafe on Indy and I swear they were the best in the WORLD.

We really preferred the RCI sammies over the ones on DCL- probably because the DCL ones are 90% wraps- and I HATE freakin wraps! :crazy2:

Or on some ships the option is "rainbow" or "non-rainbow".

Hmmm...interesting...

Admit it, they missed all their built in Dis friends they are used to having. :lmao:

Yea, but they made a TON of friends- it was that there was NOTHING ZERO ZILCH to do if their friends weren't there.

LOL!

Yeah I did miss running to Plutos for those chicken strips while at the pool on RCCL. Allure does have the Wipeout Cafe up on deck by the Flowriders so that should help.

I'm very, very glad for you- I didn't mind it as an adult, but the kids REALLY missed that option.

I'm glad you had such an amazing dining experience. We love MTD. Wish Disney offered it!! Don't expect to be in the dining room much for this next cruise though (too many other options).

Yea- Allure how HOW many restaurants?? I would be SO excited!

]

Yes!!! That's great!!! I totally agree, once the kids get older like the ages of ours and they are off doing their thing all day dinner is the only chance to reconnect.

Sad, but true. I cried for 5 minutes yesterday because I saw a photo of T&T from about 5 years ago- I just want to go back for a DAY!! Just a DAY!!

Awww...you're making me wish we hadn't scheduled a specialty the first night. LOVE that vidalia onion tart!!!

Don't be silly- it was very good, but what you'll be having will be NEW and EXCITING!!

Two words for Tyler- BOMB DIGGITY! I totally had this to eat too last time-and it was a waaay out of the box choice for me- I am not a mediterranean person and I am not a veggie person but I LOVED this!!!!

Tyler is a champion eater- and he does like alot of healthy stuff, which is nice.

Dessert looks so wonderful! And 1 1/2 hours is really booking it. Nice!!!

It felt like half the time of the last Magic first night.

Bwahahaha! You should try it on the DisMoms cruise!!!!

Thanks, but we'll probably just stick with some wine...
But they didn't stay long because it was time to go to the arcade- the 12-14 year old club had an hour of free play and there was NO chance they were missing THAT!

How cool is that!! I wouldn't want to miss it either!!!

Yes- RCI must have gotten the idea from Crack dealers- because with nothing to do in the club, they ended up dropping $$$ in there during the cruise-

Love it!

Next we went to check out the Crypt, which I thought was really cool when I took that tour the year before, and I wanted Pods to see it.
love the Crypt- never did get into the dance club on Indy. Totally plan on it on Allure-it's called Blaze and you know I love fire!!!!;)

Your dance partner wishes she had been there with you! LOL!!

I wish you had been with us too!!

Now THAT is a pain in the butt. I think all the ships are going to start to be "Oasis-ized" though so that things like that can be done ahead of time online.

Yea- and what's even better- we never went- no one wanted to go that day!!

Ok so the gym and spa on Allure actually has a *CAFE* inside! Is that counter programming or what?!?!? I mean it is healthy food, but geez!

That's nice that there is a healthy alternative for snacks other than fruit and crudite!

Woo hoo!

Me too! I stayed very close to the wall! :lmao:

Looks delish!!!!

That's what our friends said- they were like, wait til the last day! :scared1:

Yea chair hogging does seem to be worse on RCCL. I prefer Disney's "no saving period" to Royal's "Its ok if you only do it for 1/2 hour" rule.

We never had a problem on our last RCCL cruise, but that was because we were always by the H20 zone. And it was Janauary. :rolleyes1

LOVE< LOVE< LOVE those CP sammies!!! Did I mention that? I think I did!

Me too! Me too!

OK so I *finally* started packing this weekend. Lot of laundry to do still. LOT of laundry!!!
Good luck trying to become an AMATEUR- remember you don't need EVERYTHING!!:goodvibes

what beautiful pictures!! thanks so much for this report! I'm loving it!

Hi! Thank-you so much for telling me- it really makes me want to keep posting! :goodvibes

It looks so beautiful there! Who cares if it's raining lol? My daughter would be pouting the same way :rotfl: The sand looks amazing too!
I was thinking our next trip after Disney would be D.C. but I think we should take another cruise lol

We STILL haven't done DC as a family- although we have all been seperately. T&T went last summer on a mission trip. It's a very different trip, though, than a cruise! We have friends who were on an ABD while we were on the cruise- the castle one- and as much as I want to do ABD, I was SO GLAD we were relaxing on a cruise instead- we had a busy year, and we needed to CHILLAX!:cloud9:

Beautiful Bermuda pics! I love Horseshoe Bay, it is so pretty there, Elbow Beach is nice too, if you get a chance to get there again. The thing about a dedicated Bermuda cruise that is great is you get 2-3 days to explore the island and get to do much more than if it is just one day.

Oh- I WILL get a chance to go there again- I can't believe it took me until NOW to go! I was all over explaining how the 7 night Bermuda cruises work to Pods while we were still on the island- especially after our expensive lunch!

You all look fantastic! Love your dress and I think it's great that your sons will wear a tux for you. Handsome boys you have there.

Well, thank-you very much, Myst!

I think Tyler is going to grow up to be a professional smoothie taster.

I'm sure he would be a shoe-in!

My mouth is watering over that roasted duck! It's something I had never tried until I met Den. Now I love it. Is it something you make at home?

I have, but I don't usually- duck is very greasy, and it make s a BIG mess in the oven.

Breakfast looks good enough to be tempted to have breakfast in bed everyday.

Bermuda looks beautiful. The water looks so clear.

It was- it was positively breathtaking there.

Glad the day picked up even if a slow start for your boys.

Thanks- me too!

What an amazing day at the beach. It looks so beautiful.

Glad the boys cheered up a little and enjoyed themselves. Seems like once you feed them life is good for everyone again. At least with my family it works like that. ;)

Yea- food is the BIG key to our success!

Can't wait to see the Rum Swizzle! :goodvibes

Maybe later today.....:goodvibes

First, that balcony is amazing! It's even more amazing now then in the first pictures you posted. You can see how much room there really is when Pods is on a lounge chair and there is still plenty of room left at the bottom of his feet!

The pics of Bermuda are beautiful. I have been hearing about that island my whole life too. It seems EVERYONE in my family has been there except for me. I'm starting to think I might deserve a cruise for my 40th birthday coming up in March....
