Everything you ever wanted to know about Be Our Guest

How long would the wait for lunch be in you got in line around 11 or 11:30? We are going in October if that matters.

Great thread! We haven't been able to get ressies at BOG for our June trip yet and I try everyday online..so lunch will do...if the lines aren't horrid.

I think they also have a lot more walk up availability than they let on. We asked at around 4:45, and they let us and another party in right then. We were seated within 10 min. I was told by a CM to ask around 6 if I wanted to get in. So, if you can't get an ADR, font give up hope! :)

We went for lunch yesterday. We got in by 11am. Food worst of week except cupcakes.

Really? What didn't you like about it? Selection, quality?

We really liked lunch nice change from hamburger, chicken nuggets! Steak & grilled cheese sandwiches were tasty!

I had lunch at BOG on Friday and have several things to report back on!

-I had planned to get in line around 1:30, but I was feeling hungry earlier than that and didn't feel like doing any of the Fantasyland attractions so I decided to just go for it. I got in line at 12:37 and the CM was saying the wait was about 45 minutes. The line was just barely past the end of the bridge. I was ordering at 1:21, and the wait didn't feel bad at all.

-The CM was telling people that their entire party must be together to enter the restaurant and that if you tried to rejoin your group inside, you would not be allowed to do so but would have to wait in line. I am not sure whether or not you would actually be turned away if you told the CM that your group was inside the restaurant. I can't imagine them really not letting someone in if they needed to retrieve something from a stroller or something like that. I have a feeling this might be a policy that just depends on the CMs working that day. Regardless, I would not plan to have one person order for your group and have everyone join them inside, like Josh at easyWDW has recommended in the past.

-I was hoping to experiment with making substitutions at the kiosk to see what the limitations are. But two of the kiosks were down, so they were making full use of the cashiers and I was directed to one of them. I ordered the kids' pasta and asked if I could substitute zucchini for the listed seasonal vegetable, which the CM said was currently broccoli. She could not make the substitution at the register, but the was able to call the kitchen and make the request that way. So again, I strongly recommend asking to place your order with a cashier instead of at a kiosk if you know you'll want to make changes or substitutions to your order. They may be capable of making changes you can't do at the kiosk.

-I asked for clarification on the kids' lunch desserts when on the DDP. The CM confirmed that kids cannot get a cupcake or cream puff for their dessert. The peach applesauce serves as the dessert, and if they choose one of the two meals that does not list it as being included, they will still be able to receive it. I do not know if you need to specifically request it in this case, or if it comes automatically. So, to recap:
  • If you order a kids' meal OOP, you will recieve whatever is listed as included.
  • If you order a kids' meal on the DDP, the dessert is peach applesauce. You will receive the applesauce even if it's not listed as included with the meal.

-I decided to sit in the West Wing since I hadn't dined in that room before. I noticed that there are exactly two 2-top tables in that room. So if you have a dinner reservation for two and would like to sit in the West Wing, know that it's pretty unlikely that request will be met.

I will add this info to the first page of posts where appropriate :goodvibes

which are better the cupcakes or cream puffs. Sugar is one of my favorite food groups, and under the heading of sugar, cupcakes are pretty close to being one of my fav sugar fixes. Cream puffs are a close second. Which one seems to be the better choice?

Thank you for this great information! I will say that my DD will be disappointed wih applesauce while everyone else is eating cupcakes. Oh well, I guess I will be eating applesauce or buying an OOP cupcake.

I understand and appreciate Disney offering heathier children's options, but it would be nice if healthy wasn't the only option.

So buy her a cupcake out of pocket.

I have had the chocolate cupcake, strawberry cupcake, and passion fruit cream puff. Personally, I much preferred the cupcakes. The chocolate was good, but the strawberry was just divine! The cream puff was different and didn't taste bad, but it was nothing to write home about.

I do think it's a strange setup, especially considering two of the kids' meals don't even list the applesauce as being included. And at dinner, kids do get to choose a cupcake or cream puff. I suspect they will do something to change this eventually. The desserts are eligible for a snack credit, so you always have that option to get one for your DD. And they won't break the bank OOP.

We ate dinner at BOG the 2nd or 3rd week it opened and were delighted by the food, and the beautiful decor of each room etc. It's a wonderful addition to MK, long overdue! We sampled everything but the ratatouille, I wished they offered it as a side, it would be great with steak and/or pork! At dinner we had 2 11 year olds and since we paid OOP they let them order the child's steak and substitute the veg for pasta (?) if I remember correctly.

We then had lunch there 10 days ago and I absolutely loved the brasied pork! The boys had the turkey and/or the steak sandwiches, and for 16 year old's, it was ample food for lunch!

Love, love BOG!

How long is a dinner at BOG lasting? We are a party of 14 so I know ours will most likely be on the longer side. Thanks!

When I went, it took approximately 1.5 hours. That was with a party of two. Don't forget to allow time for getting a photo with the Beast and exploring the restaurant/taking photos. I would estimate 2 hours or so.

We had dinner at BOG this past Tuesday night. Our ADR was for 8:25pm, we checked in around 8:15, and I think we were seated right around our ADR time. I am a huge fan of the film, so I got to hold the candlestick on the way in, and I got all excited that we were sitting in the ballroom. I love that they let you explore the whole restaurant, and have the Beast there for pictures after dinner (but not pictures you are forced to pay for).

DH and I were on TiW, so we could order whatever we wanted. We both started with garden salads, which were good, but nothing special. I ordered the shrimp & scallops in puff pastry for my main course, and DH had the strip steak. I absolutely loved my entree! It had great flavor. The lobster sauce might be a bit salty for some, but it was perfect for me. DH thought his steak was very good, bearing in mind that we had dinner at Shula's the night before. For dessert he got the passion fruit cream puff, and I had the strawberry cupcake. I think he definitely got the better dessert. Maybe it's because I'm not a big fan of cake, but it was just like most cake dishes, except there was a delicious strawberry filling in the middle. The cream puff was unique in terms of the passion fruit flavor, and he got mango sauce on top. I think if you like a good cream puff, you should definitely choose one of those.

The service was good, and I even noticed a server two tables over was our waiter from V&A last October! I wonder if he considers BOG a demotion, or he is happy to be working there? I saw that he removed unnecessary silverware when it wasn't going to be used (something that is always done in the fancier restaurants), and our waitress didn't...probably his V&A training kicking in.

Overall we had a great dinner, and I am so glad I got the ADR! :)

My brother's family was in WDW in Feb and said they waited in line an hour for lunch. I don't know what time they got into line. If you get in line at an "off" time and eat early or late, what kind of wait can we expect (we will be there in late Oct). We would like to eat lunch here but there is no way we are going to wait in a line longer than 10-15min. We already tend to eat early and late to avoid the lunch rush/crowds.
OP mentions at the beginning about being able to see allergens in the foods on the kiosks - what if when you do that, you have difficulty finding something to order that fits the child's DDP? Can you then move to the cashier? DS6 has a dairy allergy.

:faint: I don't spend that much time at California Grill!

How much of the two hours would you say actually was devoted to the actual dining experience? i.e. dinner from time you were escorted from podium to time you paid the chedk?

Woot! Got my ressie for our anniversary night! :cool1: SUPER excited! Love all the info on this thread! My husband is so excited it's all he's been talking about, pretty sure our plane could land, we could eat here and leave and he would be happy. Question: I know this isn't considered a character meal, but how regular is the Beast? Is he pretty much guaranteed to be there? If our ADR is at 6pm, we will for sure get to have our picture with him?
