Ever See a Good Confiscation at the Bag Check?

Since both the monorail and bus stops are outside of the EPCOT gates, this scenario doesn't make sense to me.
The entrance to the Epcot Monorail Station is inside the security perimeter.

If that's the case, where do bags get checked for people leaving the epcot monorail.

Do they have a bag check before you board.

And I too was confused by the PP.
But the exit ramp from the monorail is outside the security perimeter.

The only restrictions that apply to all parks (theme and water) are nothing in glass containers (other than medicines and baby food) and no alcoholic beverages.

Some things people don't think about (which tend to be in glass) are pickles, salsa, Mayonaisse, Starbucks drinks, Snapple drinks, Tabasco.

If you show up at the gate at a water park with prohibited items we will give you three choices:
(1) Take prohibited items back to your car or resort.
(2) Put prohibited items in the nearby trash can.
(3) (Only for food items other than alcoholic beverages) If you have plastic bags or cups you can dump the items out of the glass containers and throw away the container.

I brought a jar of homemade honey as a gift for a CM. We were told no glass allowed in the parks, I got a lovely security escort to guest services where they took the honey and promised to give it to our CM.

. . . but by a CM. We were online for a ride, I forget which one but have a feeling it was Tower of Terror, the CM took 3D glasses off the woman in front of me's head and said, "Oh thank you so much for finding my glasses! I thought these were lost!" The woman must have taken them from Muppets or something and never returned them. My friends and I got a good giggle out of that :rotfl:

Aha! No wonder they were so adament that the bag contained baby supplies. But they had to know the guard was still going to take the bottles out and look at them. Maybe some would have let the "water" go through without a closer look (although doubtful since it was in glass and not a baby necessity) but clearly marked, unopened beer?! A baby tranquilizer perhaps?

I had a funny situation at security check 3 years ago. We were going into Epcot and unfortunately it was my time of the month(sorry if TMI). Anyway, I had my bag packed full of the necessary supplies since I knew I would be in the park all day. Male security guard asked me to please open my bulging bag. Well, out popped all these things like the can of peanuts with the snakes inside it. I was fine with it, but the poor guy turned a few shades of red. Guess he had a funny story to tell his family that night too.:headache:

My feet were killing me last year and I had moleskin and a TINY pair of scissors (kid sized). I had no problem taking them in at any parks during the trip except for ONE day at MK. The bag check lady pulled them out and asked about them. I showed her the moleskin and told her it was because of blisters. She involved a supervisor that was very nice. He instructed us to "hide" them in an inside pocket of our bag and sent us on our way. It was embarrassing and a bit annoying when you're in a hurry, so I definitely followed his instructions the rest of the trip!

I also had kids scissors with me last week for exactly the same situation. I took the blunt fiskors that we haven't used in years.

I'm surprised any thing would be said I don't even thing the TSA would have problem with them though I haven't flown since the 9/11.

not at WDW but at the OIA airport, i was heading to pick up luggage and head towards ME check-in and someone departing had a PS3, a gameboy, and a TV in their luggage bags, how it fit im not sure. :lmao:

On my last trip, I noticed a family jumping over the fence from where the monorail at MK lets out, bypassing the security check. I mentioned it to one of the guards who just looked at me like ...ok?? :confused3 They hardly looked like a suspicious family, but if you're going to be paid to keep the park safe, shouldn't you be doing your job?

Doesn't beat the flight out of Cleveland to Orlando, though. While going through security, we overheard one TSA agent say to the other, "So.. what do you think that was?" with the other one saying, "Umm, I don't know. Did you happen to see what he looked like?" There were magically "surprise checks" at the gates of the departing flights after that.

Thinking about this just a bit...

Don't they sell things inside the parks that come in glass containers?

For instance the guy with the hot sauce could have gone over to Mexico and gotten all the hot sauce he wanted in glass containers. :confused3

My son had a pocket knife confiscated a couple of years ago. He honestly forgot he had it in his pocket though. Back at the resort, his kids wanted to put on some tatoos. He used his pocket knife to cut them out of the bigger sheet of tatoos and absent mindedly put the knife into his pocket after using it. Got to the park and was asked what was in his pocket at bag check. He pulled it out and apologized. He offered to take it back to our vehicle but they told him they would hold it at guest relations for him and he could pick it up when we left. On the way out of the park, he stopped by and picked it up. The security people were professional and nice about it.

I always wonder if people carry guns into the park unnoticed. I know people can carry with a license but I'm guessing the undercover Disney police/security keep an eye on things.

I also agree that Disney made the right decision taking the glass containers from the people. They can buy alcohol there.

Yes...I saw a guy with a soft sided cooler of beer have it confiscated at the MK..kinda hard not to see since he screamed his head off about his rights.:rotfl2:

He's got PLENTY of rights...right outside the park.

I think someone pointed out a few months back that for some reason the elevator will actually let you off inside the perimeter. I don't know if they've fixed that yet.

I was thoroughly confused by that incident...so he was running back INTO the security perimeter to get to the entrance ramp to the monorail? I was thinking there was a way to get back to the monorail entrance without going through security, but that may be a very old memory before they had all the security...

After reading this thread I decided to start a new thread asking this same question. We can see where it goes.

Taking glass into parks??

Oh crap, I was going to take my tiny scissors for just that reason. Maybe I will put them in my pocket until I get thru the bag check.

My husband got a kick out of chatting with the bag check folks at security...if it wasn't busy, he loved asking them "What's the strangest thing you've ever found in a bag?" One of the security people (it was at MK, I think) told about finding a pet rabbit in someone's bag once. :lmao:

Per my prior post, i checked the TSA web site and scissors with blades shorter than 4 in are OK so why would WDW have an issue with blunt tipped kids scissors with blades less than 2 in. Unless they can somehow be used to either damage something or allow you to defeat some merchandise security tag. :confused3

From TSA:

Scissors - metal with pointed tips and blades shorter than four inches. Yes for both checked and carry on.
