Eat at Home 3!

Hi - I want to jump in although, I don't have a plan for the week.

Today was a snow day for us so I had time to bake bread - we had: turkey marinaded in olive oil, lime & lemon juice and garlic, pearl cous-cous - cantelope - left over tossed salad and my first attempt at making challah bread. (which ended up being crusty on the outside and doughy in the middle because I forgot to turn down the oven temp when I put it in)

tomorrow: ravioli, sauce, italian sausage and garlic bread

thursday: not sure

Friday is my birthday and the one thing I asked for is to not have to plan dinner. Meal planning is not my strength.

My goal is to save money by menu planning and avoiding the grocery store every day. When the clerk says to you, "hey, you're in here every day!", it may be time to cut back on your visits. :scratchin

Do you guys have any ideas for weekend lunches? I can't say grab a sandwich or my picky dh will look at me like I just ruined his world.

What do you eat on the weekends?

On the weekends we eat the following:
Quesdillas or nachos
pizza
late breakfast so have pancakes, bacon, fruit,
Chili or Potato Soup, with grilled cheese sandwhiches
home made mac and cheese in the crock pot
mini sliders, french fries
leftovers
buffalo chicken dip, with veggies

Menu Plan Week of Jan 31st

Made something super easy yesterday so I'm sharing(saw it on a diser's YouTube channel)
Put chicken pieces(I had leg quarters) in crock pot sprinkle with taco seasoning(which I didn't have so I used cayenne pepper, garlic and cumin) cover with chicken stock. Cook on high(I packed that bad boy so mine took 8 hours but I could see it taking less with fewer pieces.) then shred and serve in tacos! My family loved them and it was super easy!

Can I play? Last week before we hit Disney, so lots of cleaning out the fridge on the agenda:

Today: Turkey tacos and Southwest salad
Sunday: Chicken, broccoli and pasta saute
Monday: Homemade mac and cheese and spinach salad
Tuesday: Breakfast dinner: bacon and eggs, home fries, toast
Wednesday: Parmesan Panko fish filets, couscous or risotto (kids will probably eat leftovers or sandwiches)
Thursday: Ziti casserole, veggies and dip
Friday: clean out the fridge: everything must GO!

Yesterday was aloha chicken and pineapple fried rice.

Today is french toast casserole and sausage links.

Tomorrow is bacon cheeseburgers on pretzel buns.

Trying to think what to make for valentine's day. I like it to be a full menu, just like it would be when we go out. However, we haven't been out in quite sometime, just can't stand the crowds in our area. Everything is full to the max, even steak and shake has a wait, lol!

I'm trying to spend less money so I am shopping according to sales and I have a pretty good stockpile going now.

Yesterday we had beef pot pie.
Tonight is fresh bratwurst w/ sauerkraut
The rest of the week, in some order, will be:
Chicken "skettie"
Chicken parm sandwiches
shredded beef chimichangas
Pizza from the deli
I need one more idea...maybe porkchops or pork loin.
