Early-Early Roll call.... 4-28-07 Eastern

I did the same thing last month, so I refuse to go out to buy "last minute" things. I stopped by Costco to pick-up my contact lenses. Mind you, I had already paid for them, so all I had to do was go to the pharmacy section, get them, and leave. I ended up buying an 80GB iPod and neat portable speakers that fold up into its own case. And of course when I got back home, I just had to download the movie Cars and the entire SpongeBob SquarePants first season on it to keep DS amused during transit. The bill as a result of that quick trip to Costco to pick-up my contacts? Over $500!! I must say, though, that we were always listening to music whenever we were in the room, so I not only didn't regret the purchase but I was glad that I made that outrageous impulsive decision.
That will be the best money you'll have spent!
I'll confess, onre of the places I went shopping yesterday was Best Buy...I got DH an Ipod... to keep him amused during transit:rotfl:
He stayed up late last night downloading songs...was he a happy camper!

Why oh why am I here dissing?? I still havent packed!

Although I didn't order a gift basket from Shirley this cruise, I have in the past and loved her baskets!
Things I will be packing.....
small binoculars
a small ziplock with shout wipes, laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets
lots of ones for room service tips, and change for the tolls for the Beachline highway and the laundry machines.
Minis of my favorite liquor to "enhance" my frozen drinks.
A few paperbacks to read on the plane/ by the pool
over the door shoe organizer
extension cord
lots of extra batteries.

One thing I have mentioned before on tip threads, is that at guest services, if you run out of something and need just a few items, esp when the ships gift shop is closed, they have supplies of bandaids, seasickness meds, personal hygene products for the ladies (which they will give to you discretly in an envelope) ect.
It never hurts to ask, instead of buying a whole box, when you just need one!

I’m sure many of you have heard about the thin strip of beach before the runway at the airport in St. Maarten. Here is a clip from You Tube of the planes landing.

DH and I are going to head over there and watch them land if anyone would like to join us. I’m sure that it will scare the living daylights out of me, but I figured this will be a once in a lifetime opportunity and a great scrapbooking spread! One thing’s for sure, I will definitely be bringing the earplugs! :yay:

DH and I did this in 2005. We had a blast...jet blast that is!
We'll be there again, if we can convince our friends to go.

How is the beach there? I would love to do this, but keeping DW and DS amused in between airplane landings is a concern of mine.

Oh crap, are you telling me that they DO allow adults into the arcade?? :scared1: That's it, my DH is a goner. :sad2:

Oh, I see you have one of those, too.

I can't wait to see dh's face when he discovers Ocean Quest on our floor. He'll volunteer to chaperone the kids so he can play on the brdige mock up thingy. BTW...not a video game mom!:hippie:

Y'all, do you know if you can rent jetski @ CC without making excursions? I just wanna go fast & wet without an "eco tour". Any DHs doing the golf at Mahogany Run on St Thomas, in OMG a week from today.

We're finally packed. I work my last day tomorrow, DW works her 12 hour shift Thurs night to Friday AM. Flying down Friday night, Tiffany towncar to hotel in Port Canaveral. Any good restaurants in Port Canaveral?

MY DSIL is interested in playing golf. Have you signed up yet? He has not but would play if you needed a partner and it was available. Do you know if they rent clubs? He would like to bring his own but they won't fit.

Not packed and have not picked out all the clothes yet, I guess I am behind schedule.

I have all the important stuff set out, signs, leis, binoculars, candy for the movies and MP3 player.

Yea, I've signed up. We meet early in AM somewhere on the boat. When you book through Disney you get transportation, golf cart, greens fees. Club Rental is $20. I'm not bringing my clubs either. I am not sure how they divide up foursomes or what. Travel time is about a half hour from ship to golf course. I was going to order sandwiches from room service the night before to have some grub on the course. I don't think we'll have much time to do the "19th hole".

Did you go to disneycruise.com and make your excursions? You'll need to register and have you reservation number.

Hi All

Well it took about 3 hours, but I am packed. I am sure I forgot something, luckily the grandparents will have a car if I need to get something on the way to port.

I tried to have only two suitcases, I ended up with three large and one small, plus a garment bag. Oh well - I hope they fit under the bed or my DS (2) will have fun climbing ontop of them.

We did order a gift basket for the kids. Shirley was great about switching out some of the candy for my DS (too much sugar is way too scary). I can't wait to see what they look like.

I can't believe I fly out tomorrow night and will be in WDW this time tomorrow. I just have to survive career day at my middle school tomorrow and off to FL we go.

I only have to charge my iPod (DH is on his own for his), the portable DVD player for the DD, so we should be all set. The grandparents will be driving their hour and a half to the world tomorrow morning.

This will probably be my last post prior to sailing so see you all real soon.:rotfl:

Hi everyone! We got in safely yesterday after a long plane ride. We stopped at Walmart for some snacks, drinks, etc. and checked into the hotel around 8:30pm.

We packed the day before leaving (after shopping the entire week for everything new); however, we didn't get to sleep until 2am and had to be up at 4:30 am to catch the plane (which we almost missed). Okay....lesson to learn for next time....start packing whatever you can at least a week before! We were planning on going to WDW for 2 days; however, we didn't get up until 10:00 so we decided not to go. We are only going for one day (tomorrow). We are exhausted and have learned our lesson...

It's nice and warm here in FL but not too hot. Unfortunately, half of my white body is red just from today! We slathered ourselves in sunblock and were in the pools for about 1.5 hours. The girls turned a totally different shade! THe sun is so intense!

For those of you coming in a day early, if you forgot anything...Walmart has everything. The Disney selection at Walmart is awesome and cheap! Great souvenirs!

I forgot my tennis shoes so had to go to the Nike factory today,as well as HATS (Don't forget them)!

MUST HAVES:: over the door organizer & Downy wrinkle releaser! And of course, sunblock (and if you have a tendency to burn, I would bring some aloe with you...we bought some tonight)!

Well, going to bed for another long day tomorrow! Don't know if I'll be on tomorrow!

Can someone PLEASE print me the list of all of us that I posted? I forgot my important folder of papers and all of my notes. I copy & pasted into WORd and printed it from there. Would love it if someone could do that for me!

Will see you guys on Sat...5pm on deck 10! It's NOT going to rain:sad2:

Do they let adults play in the Ocean Quest bridge thingy? Becuase DH watched the DCL DVD and totally wants to do it. As for the arcade, yep, he's a goner.

That would be awesome wouldn't it? Because you could totally get up close to the Flying Duthman and have such a great time. I don't think you can rent the jetski's by yourselves. You could do the paddle poats or sailboat thingys and get a little ways out there.

I will leave a copy by your stateroom door after we board.

Hope you're catching up on that sleep debt. 2 1/2 hours of sleep is not a good way to start a vacation. I unfortunately know all too well from experience!!

Joe

Kym, thanks for the report from Florida.....be careful today in the sun.

Delorean Girl, IIRC, I think there was a time on our Wonder cruise last year when they let adults in to check out the Oceaners club, we enjoyed that bridge simulator!

PlutoNme, for the life of me I can't remember if you can just rent jet skis...in all my cruises I haven't ever done that. DH and I have eaten at Rusty's http://www.rustysseafood.com/
alot of people really like Grills- http://www.visitgrills.com/

Joe, Maho beach is not very big, it's narrow and when the jets come in you do not want to be right under them so you have to stay to the side. In my opinion, it's not really a family freindly beach, as it gets deep really quickly off the beach, and there is pretty strong wave action at times. There is not really much else to do besides a casino in walking distance. There is a bar on the left end of the beach-Sunset Beach Bar- that has good food and drinks and live music, lots of deck seating to watch planes from, they have the control tower piped into speakers so you can listen to pilot chatter-really fun. Women who show their "cleavage" get free drinks. Not sure if that would bother your DW. To my husbands dissapointment, no one got a free drink while we were there last time:rotfl2: If I had a kid with me, I would spend most of my time at another beach that's better for swimming, then take a taxi over to Maho around 2 pm for an hour or two.

Save travels to everyone......I leave today at noon, get to Orlando at 5pm, and we meet our freinds flight at 9pm. Plan to spend tomorrow at our favorite Parks..Epcot and MGM Studios, and have ressies for Ragland Road for Friday night to get starting on drinking Guinness all week:love:

See you on the Magic!

In case anyone is worried about Sunset Beach Bar the topless women have to sit at the bar to get the free drinks. So if you sit at the tables you can avoid seeing them if you want!

Do they make the shirtless guys with "man ****s" sit at the bar too? I think I'm more afraid of seeing those!

No, they will be everywhere they want to be!:rotfl2: I look forward to meeting you, I don't guess you will have a lime green lei on will you? :cool1:
I just got back from yet another trip to Party City because I found out all the girls are coming with me to the meet. Good news is they had them, last time I was there they only had 1.

Ohhhh... I am so envious of those who are enroute. Lucky ducks!

My DH just arrived at my office and has announced that he is officially on holidays!! Plus our kids are off tomorrow for a professional development day. That just leaves me to go to work Friday. :sad2:

They are now in charge to do the last minute pack because I don't want to worry about it Friday night.

As a surprise to my family I ordered Shirley baskets for the herd. Plus I had Shirley sneak in a bottle of wine for me.

Ohhhhhhh......I cannot wait to leave!!!

See you all soon.

Kathy
