Disney Cruise Characters! Who have you met when and experiences!

DH and I were strolling back to our room after dinner and as we ambled through a completed deserted Shutters we ran into Alice (in Wonderland) coming in the other direction. Without missing a beat, she enquired in cut glass English (we are British and are more used to such an accent on Downton Abbey rather than on an American cruise ship) if we had seen the Rabbit on our stroll.

I'm looking foward to meeting Captain Hook too is he easily findable? He screams Disbey cruise as I see him on the adverts a lot!

My DH and I rode the elevator with Mickey. It was just the three of us and Mickey's escort. We joked around a lot in the elevator (as much as he could without talking). It was an unforgettable ride!

For my son it was meeting Max on the Dream. Every trip to WDW he would ask Goofy where Max was. Max was always either at school, playing soccer, or something else. 2 years ago on our first cruise he finally got to meet Max. My way too cool 12 yo son at the time sort of turned into a little kid again.

I was sitting on Deck 4 on the Dream by the shuffleboard reading and about to doze off when I looked up and Captain Mickey was there - he took my hand and kissed it ! My younger granddaughter still talks about meeting all the princesses in the atrium on the day at sea and how Captain Hook was chasing Peter Pan thru the line before the princesses came down the grand staircase. My older granddaughter - at the same time - was having a great time on the top deck playing mini-golf with Goofy and Max. We were at the adults beach on Castaway Cay when Jack Sparrow came walking down the beach ! Make sure you always have a camera ready - you never know who you will meet !

Once I was looking around in a very uncrowded Shutters and a ‘castmember only’ door opened. Cinderella walked out alone. She smiled and said hello to me and I said hello back. Then I was like, OMG, Cinderella just said hi to me!

What is the deal I've been reading about needing tickets for the princesses?
Currently, the ships have 3 different ticketed events (free, but limited number) - Disney Jr., Princess Gathering, and Anna & Elsa. You pick up tickets once onboard the ship for a specified time.

I have seen Donald greeting those coming off the Aqua Duck:
I wrote a love letter to Jack Sparrow on Castaway Cay:

My DD danced with Snow White in the Atrium one day.

We have pictures with Goofy up on the Sports deck as well as Stitch and Mickey. You can sometimes catch the characters when they are walking away from taking photographs. Tip: Always carry a camera.

Most of the formal character photos sessions will not let you use your own camera, its not like the parks. But on the last night, after late dinner they had this 25 minute session when they all came out in the lobby and it was anything goes. We got photos with Minney Mickey Cinerella Bell Goofy Chip and dale and daisey all on our own camera, we where flying thru the set up areas.

I was amazed at how many characters we randomly ran into, and they were all SO nice about stopping to pose for pic. Belle was the best. Every time we ran into her she stopped and had a long conversation with our youngest, all about the cruise, and her library back home, etc. Definitely ALWAYS have your camera with you!

I have used my own camera at every character meet and greet. I have never had a problem. Sometimes the shutter pass guy will take the picture for me. It saves a ton of money.

We always take our own pics at the photo sessions. Let the handler know you want to take your own pics after the ship's photographer, and then just stand out of the way and wait until the photographer is done (also a good idea to let the handler know if you want to get the character's autograph beforehand). We have always found the characters will turn toward you after the ship's photographer is done. In fact, our professional photo with stitch was him hugging her. After the photographer was done, I captured this moment on my own camera.

Conflicting I hope you get to use your own camera! That would be a nice thing as DH hates buying photos!

Is Captain Hook highly visible?

Also the lines are no wear near the parks right? Meaning if characters are essential to me I can do them all?

We saw Captain Hook after the "Til We Meet Again" show at the end of the cruise. He is sometimes in the kids club and sometimes around the ship with Wendy and Peter. You may see him on Pirate night too. The lines aren't no where as bad as the parks. Just arrive about 10 minutes early for non tickets meet and greets and you will be fine. You can meet with all of the characters that are out at the time. For example, they will have out all of the Princesses.
