Dis 10th Anniversary mention - July 2016

Have you stayed at AOA before? Can you suggested a value resort for us? We really want to go but a budget and never have stayed value before.
So excited for DIS details.

This is our first time at AoA. We're staying in a Lion King suite. My friend stayed there in a Little Mermaid room recently and they really liked it. We're DVC owners, so we don't usually stay value, but I've stayed at POP before I like that resort too!

All themed elements aside, the Landscape of Flavors is really an upgrade worth the $10-$20 price difference per night (if you are on the dining plan and will use credits there) when you consider the commissary at POP. Although, the steamed mussels and unique flat breads at POP are certainly not bad.

a little bit of both. Everything you saw there is available ... as part of special VIP packages

The "DISers Unleased" party is $199 / person and includes 2 trips through the buffet line and any beer that Craig has squirreled away that you can find as par of the "Hidden Hops" event. It also comes with a partially obstructed view of the outdoor television ... with Craig being what is partially blocking you on account of how tall he is

The "Wishes Dessert Party" is $149 / person and includes only bon bons made by Teresa (recipe includes her own tears) - and a view of the fireworks between Pete and the pizza delivery guy as he takes 2 hours to deliver the pizza

Please contact Kevin @ dreamsunlimitedtravel dot com - your adventures by Disney and Pete's backyard camping specialist - to book these or any of our other fabulous packages
I contacted Kevin about the dessert party... he hung up on me.
I assumed that after Pete bought the house from the Golden Girls that was on the backstage tour ride, he would offer that as lodging. I assumed wrong.
I spoke with Kyle at the Swan, and was told I could not hold a topless event at their pool. (AOA seemed open to the idea though)
I was preemptively informed by the Grand Floridian manager of events and Wilderness Lodge's GM that we can NOT have a midnight swim in the lake.
Beaches and Cream will not allow an icecream eating contest, I blame Cory for that one.
I was not able to make ADR's for 60 people at BOG, but was told that Tony's is available.
So basically my ideas don't fit with the Disney brand, and I'm back to letting the Dreams Team make the plans.

In lieu of published plans, I propose a Saturday morning "breakfast" at the Rose & Crown at 11:00. I will be the guy at the bar nearest the piano with a Boddington's talking to Carl. If you don't know who Carl is, you're missing out on life. I have the feeling this will be epic or an epic disaster (meeting people you know online can be bad) but I promise there will be memories made and pictures to go on my wall of shame. I will not leave Florida without a photo of me between JeniLynn and Craig to show heights (I am between 5'9" and 6'2' depending on the police photo you look at), and one of Kathy with a beer in her hand.

I have many other goals for our vacation in the planning stage, although camping in Pete's yard was nixed by my wife, but one serious one I'd like to try. If anyone wants to join in on chartering a boat to view Wishes let me know. I believe it is up to 12 people, but it doesn't make sense for just my wife and I alone. We have seen this from every location and angle except on the lake.

If you read this hunny, ignore the last paragraph because it's a surprise.

Folks going to 10th Anniversary, is anyone staying at a value or moderate resort? DH and I do not own DVC; we are contemplating value or moderate, any thoughts?? Never been to DIS trip/activity before, are they fun? Thanks!

This will be my first DIS trip, and I am currently planning on staying at a value. I have never stayed at one either. I might switch, depending upon where my friends end up.

We will be there! It's our first DIS event. We're staying at AoA for the first time too, which I'm excited about. Can't wait to hear more details!

I am booked at AOA too but in a Little Mermaid room, since it's probably just me.

Anyone have any suggestions on Podcast episodes to show DH? He doesn't understand why I want to go to the 10th...things got heated when I said I'd go alone to save some $...so, now I'm trying to figure out the best samples to show him to try and help him get it. Thoughts?

Great idea! I told my husband the same thing :)
Search Youtube for video meeting and greets. I tried to look some up my work banned Youtube-ugh.

I haven't told my husband yet:guilty: I am hoping to go alone. I have never done a solo trip to Disney. However, it won't really be alone, because a DIS friend in my town is going too. I might try and make it sound bad, so that DH doesn't want to go;) I also don't know how to break it to DS that mommy is going to Disney without him. Ah, he'll get over it, right:scratchin

pics or it didn't happen

It really looks like you, Terresa, and Craig were standing on a step above them

Once more details come out and we can square away all of the family plans, I'd definitely be up for something - be it a fireworks cruise or even just grabbing a drink in LaCava or something

Keep in mind that the 10th anniversary festivities might include a ticketed event. So if your budget is a factor, you might want to wait before committing to anything too costly and keep your funds available for the DIS event(s).

Well, they need to be getting on with the information then.
While I understand that you're all so eager to know what's going on so you can get to planning, something to consider is that they probably just don't have everything locked and loaded yet.
I'm a financial accountant and my whole career, I'm constantly asked "hey, is XYZ report ready yet?" Or "can you please send through XYZ report?"
The thing is, I'm not not sending it for fun and games. If I haven't sent it, either the data isn't ready yet (eg. Month end isn't finalized and changes are still being made) or I literally haven't had time yet to do it because I have a list of things to get through and I'm working through that, usually on a priority basis.

I feel like this is the case here.
They (most likely) aren't holding back the information like "hey Pete, let's see how much we can get the DIS fans to ask and beg and complain about these plans before we release them"
It's probably because they aren't ready to release yet.

Just my $0.02

EDIT: however, I do enjoy all the information that is being leaked for the events at Pete's house and speculation on fast pass times and ADRs for that.

Yeah. Thanks for saying this, Jes ... I've been thinking it but wasn't sure if I should say anything.
I'd rather they wait until they have the information until they release it. I don't want to hear "this might happen..." and then nothing happens.

But please, keep up the speculation. Even though I won't be there, I'm really excited to hear all about the VIP Camping at Pete's experience.
