Dis 10th Anniversary mention - July 2016

Folks going to 10th Anniversary, is anyone staying at a value or moderate resort? DH and I do not own DVC; we are contemplating value or moderate, any thoughts?? Never been to DIS trip/activity before, are they fun? Thanks!

They always sound fun but they are also usually only 1 night :) This will be my first... I'm actually moving to the area so my plan right now is not to stay onsite for this however once I see the schedule and hear if everyone is aiming for the same resort or something I'll decide what I want to do with sleeping.

We will be there! It's our first DIS event. We're staying at AoA for the first time too, which I'm excited about. Can't wait to hear more details!

Have you stayed at AOA before? Can you suggested a value resort for us? We really want to go but a budget and never have stayed value before.
So excited for DIS details.

Y'all! Pete has posted pictures of his Super Bowl setup on FB. Looks fantastic! Is he taunting us or just advertising?

a little bit of both. Everything you saw there is available ... as part of special VIP packages

The "DISers Unleased" party is $199 / person and includes 2 trips through the buffet line and any beer that Craig has squirreled away that you can find as par of the "Hidden Hops" event. It also comes with a partially obstructed view of the outdoor television ... with Craig being what is partially blocking you on account of how tall he is

The "Wishes Dessert Party" is $149 / person and includes only bon bons made by Teresa (recipe includes her own tears) - and a view of the fireworks between Pete and the pizza delivery guy as he takes 2 hours to deliver the pizza

Please contact Kevin @ dreamsunlimitedtravel dot com - your adventures by Disney and Pete's backyard camping specialist - to book these or any of our other fabulous packages

Anyone have any suggestions on Podcast episodes to show DH? He doesn't understand why I want to go to the 10th...things got heated when I said I'd go alone to save some $...so, now I'm trying to figure out the best samples to show him to try and help him get it. Thoughts?

Great idea! I told my husband the same thing :)
Search Youtube for video meeting and greets. I tried to look some up my work banned Youtube-ugh.

We always stay Pop and have always had a great time. We like Pop because it has its own bus. Some of the other values share buses, so the transportation takes longer. (I feel like I may have read that the other values have their own now, but I'm not sure). We think the food court is good and the pools are nice. We also think its a decent size. We stayed at Port Orleans once. Although it was beautiful and we loved the pools, it was a pretty long walk from our room to the buses, and the buses took forever to get around the resort. For those reasons, we choose to stay at Pop still (and because Pop is such a good price).

I highly suggest checking out the resort specific threads on the Resorts board. They have some great information and the people there can answer any questions you may have.

My husband thought this might be some wild spring break-like party and I was running off to WDW without him! :rotfl:Just trying to find eps with good Pete rants and some good John and Kevin info. I can cover JL and Tess with the Trip, Craig and Ryno with the Uni edition, and everyone else should pop up in between...but if he's going to come with me (which I'm perfectly OK with) I just need him to know what it's going to be like. Thinking I may even dig up some DISmeet vids.

For informational purposes the 7 in 7s are good ... but a little different than the typical shows

For the meets, I know Pete picked last years (2015s) Hershey meet as one of his top moments - and that is a good example of how open the team is (though not sure if that would motivate or discourage your husband from coming)

Actually, maybe just use the podcasts from late December where they went over the top moments from 2015

I think the best things to show him would be the shows recorded at the meets. That will give a much better idea of the interaction than a regular studio show.

Pull up the 2015 New Jersey meet. That was a good one.
Hershey 2015 was also very good.

Really any of the shows recorded at the meets, though I'd say the 2015 New England meet show wasn't one of the best IMO. I wouldn't start there. Make sure it's one where Pete was present. Richmond was good too.

Tigger, also maybe see if you can watch some of Kevin's dining reviews (Google wdwinfo Kevin close dining, a link should come up with a listing of all his dining reviews)
These show how funny they are and maybe an indication of what to expect in terms of humor and how down to earth they all are

Poly, POP is my fav value resort. All stars share busses at times, and you can walk across a bridge to Art of Animation. This can come in handy if you want a nicer food court, or when leaving a park and an AOA bus pulls up while POP has a long line ( my little trick, don't tell anyone). It really is a nice resort and many moderates make you take internal busses to get to the park bus stop.

As for podcasts, search youtube for disunplugged and either dining reviews, 7 in 7, or dismeet. My wife got me started a year ago and I think I have seen every episode they have put out on video. My favorites are

Yeah...I think funny is the best angle for this. We weren't planning on any major travel this year so we could prep our house to sell, but I need at least a small trip to keep me sane for dealing with work and contractors. So, showing him the right kinds of content could illustrate how a mini trip for the 10th would be a therapeutic mental break.
