DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning all. The week has went by at a quick enough pace.

Just done for the year; two more after this (at least on my dime, that is).

At WCU they do have a specific set of dorms for the freshmen, but after that you can apply to be set up in whichever dorm you’d like. It may cost more depending on the location and amenities though.

We went a different route this year. There are a couple of apartment complexes abound the campus that were built specifically for students. Cost wise, they’re only about $20ish more per month then the average dorm, but offer better living conditions. Max shares one apartment with three other folks. They have a common living room, kitchen and laundry, but each has their own bedroom/bathroom space with a deadbolt for privacy and security. We’re going to go that route again next semester, but if everyone moves out for the summer, the owners can rent the unit short term to folks coming in for summer seminars and the like to defray the costs a bit.

Not a bad idea - better accommodations and security are a good thing. Any plans for the summer?

Kept me up until after 2am.
It was awesome when the alarm went off at 5am.

I hate it when my sleep routine gets out of whack. Definitely makes it more difficult to function. I stopped drinking caffeine in the afternoons as I'm too old to handle it. Hey, get off my lawn.

Jim, Jim, Jim. Tisk, Tisk, Tisk.

Nothing new that we already suspected, but the text messages and phone calls were interesting. Maybe the footballs were nervous before the games and needed to go to the bathroom - one not authorized by the officials. It doesn't matter - cheaters win, pay a fine, a we continue on.

Hey All! Good morning. To those in the world, have a fun day and watch that storm movin in.

DS had a great pitching performance last night vs. another good pitcher. Both went all 7 innings in a pitchers duel with DS coming out on top 4-2. He is now 3-0 in 3 starts, 18 Inning pitched, 19 K's, 2 BB, 2 Earned Runs. His ERA is well under 1, but I have no idea how to calculate it. Add that to the honor roll and his architecture project being chosen to represent his class. Pretty good week for my first born.

I am not known for my grace but her mother was even worse. Why Canada? Going undercover to thwart the Penguin invasion?

Have a blast! The risk of infection is why they didn't drain the fluid out of it. Swelling is going down so I think she is going to be OK. They want us to see a specialist when she gets home. She already is seeing her doc to get shots for the trip and we will see what they say.

The Canada trip is with his French class. They are heading to Quebec as part of the learning experience. Should be a great experience for the kids, especially being able to be on their own for a little bit.

Just poppin' in to say "Hi!" I see the boards went and got a new look. fancy.

Welcome back! Feel free to hang around a little more often.

Jim, Jim, Jim. Tisk, Tisk, Tisk.

HAHAHA! I could have provided the answers in about 3 hours for half the price it cost Wells. Was there ever any question that:

1) The balls were on the lower inflation levels, illegal or not?

2) Not only do the Patriots do it, a significant number of present and past QB's have done some sort of tampering with the balls as well?

3) The NFL failed to do it's job as well since they do not document the pre game measurements and its "more than likely" the balls are not checked with a gauge on most occasions?

4) Allowing teams/players to "doctor" balls within the rules is a bad idea?

Of course it was going on.....Of course everyone knew.....Of course others do it.....Of course it's only a big deal because we annually kick everyone's a$$ and jealousy abounds. Even with all that said, I'm sure we'll see the NFL hit the Pats hard just because. What can you do? Did I mention I'll be at the game when we raise the new banner? :worship::worship:

I'm the same... but I love Coke so... **it happens.
As a shift worker, I've resigned myself to not getting decent sleep... ever.

Wow. That's seriously impressive. Big leagues in the future, maybe???

My DD did that a few years ago. She found that anytime she'd try to speak french to someone, they'd hear her accent and immediately switch to English.

Conversations would go like this...
Subway clerk: "Bonjour, je peu vous aider?"
DD: "Une 6 pouces sur blanc avec du jambon et fromage jaune, s'il vous plait."
Subway clerk: 6 inch ham and yellow cheese on white. What else do you want on it?"

That is a heck of a great week. His ERA would be .77. (Earned runs * Innings in a game) / Innings Pitched. So for your son it's (2 * 7) / 18. The baseball coach at my old high school screwed my wife's little brother by calculating his ERA based off 9 inning games vs the 7 that they play in high school. It inflated his ERA and possibly cost him all-conference honors. And to think - this guy was a math teacher!

Just poppin' in to say "Hi!" I see the boards went and got a new look. fancy.

You have been away for a bit; welcome back!

I haven't been away as long as Philip or James, but it looks like a reunion up in here, so I thought I'd pop in as well. I skimmed back a few pages, so forgive me if I missed anything, but
Darcy - congrats to the Declan on the basketball.
CJ - good luck to Crash in Indonesia. UW Milwaukee has a school of freshwater sciences that does a lot of work in Lake Michigan. Not quite as glamours as south east Asia, but a lot closer to home if you can get her to change her mind. Hope the finger heals up soon.
Welcome to the new guy(s)!

Thanks Barry, he has a tryout this weekend for the U15 provincial team if he decides to go. His travel soccer team is going full bore so I'm not sure what he plans to do.

Nice perfomance by you DS, congrats!

He'll have a great time on the trip, Old Quebec is a pretty cool place to see. The old, walled city is pretty different being over 400 years old.

They always do that. I had a player that was a Francophone and had completed all his school in French up to university. I use to take my university team there every year for a tournament and he was ordering food one day and the server told him to speak English. Now French in NB is a bit different than French in Quebec but not that different.

No, she is not giving you the finger

That's my Kid.
First of all... I'm sorry she broke her finger. But that picture is hilarious! :lmao:

Hope she heals quickly. And maybe she'll let nature run it's course next time. :rolleyes1

Just poppin' in to say "Hi!" I see the boards went and got a new look. fancy.
This is the first time you've seen the new boards? Dang it really has been a while, hasn't it?

So after working 32 of the last 48 hours, I was pretty zombie like.
But I had stuff to do up until 11pm last night.
Better fortify myself with some caffeine, or it ain't happening.

Worked like a charm.
Really well.
Amazingly well...

Kept me up until after 2am.
It was awesome when the alarm went off at 5am.
:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: :rotfl2::rotfl:

I knew I could count on you for some sympathy, Andy. :sad2:

Notice a flurry of posts from you this morning.
Planting finished? Or are you just trying to come up with ways to delay the innevitable?

One can only hope. There are a lot of good players in our high school program. While only a freshman, the program is defending state champions and we have been in the final 4 for the last 3.

Well hopefully he understands all that gibberish. I'm pretty certain I would be ordering something no one would ever want to eat.:scared:

See, now that's why I hang around here so often. Great friends, compassionate listeners and answers to any question on the planet. Thanks monkey man!

Thanks!. Good to hear from you Darcy. Been a while. DS is excited to see the place and get away. A little bummed he'll miss a baseball game, but it s a good opportunity.

Prayers for those in need; Praise for those deserving; Disney, Dole Whips & Bacon for All!

Well more like Praise for your kids who are deserving!!! :jumping1:

Nope. had to go to work today. As in the office job. And there isn't a $*%! thing going on.

Less than 60 hours until we pull chocks and head south. Have to keep an eye on that weather system off of florida. Might have to take the western route through the Carolinas if it moves inland.
We'll be at WDW May 26-28 if anyone else is there at the same time, staying at AoA.
Enjoy the trip and safe travels gents

Jim, Jim, Jim. Tisk, Tisk, Tisk.
Was waiting for that - was not anticipating the subtle approach but still well done

Congrats to DS especially on the grades and architecture project! After going through club soccer and all the recruiting, showcase events etc. unless a kid is a no brainer D1 prospect, the kids that are good enough to play at the next level that get the scholarships are the ones with the strong academics as the coaches can get those funds easier than athletic funds. Also, glad to see not everything related to sports in your neck of the woods is falling apart.

Here you go sir, your squid and pickeled eel sandwhich.

Let's see? Lake Michigan or pristine Pacific waters surrounding Indonesiam? Diving in murky lake water or potential 100 foot visibility. Seeing Trout, Perch or Bass versus Sharks, Turtles, Dolphins? Gee, I'll ask her.

Nothing new that we already suspected, but the text messages and phone calls were interesting. Maybe the footballs were nervous before the games and needed to go to the bathroom - one not authorized by the officials. It doesn't matter - cheaters win, pay a fine, a we continue on.

I am just sitting back munching on popcorn watching from the bleachers. Don't really care what punishment they are going to levy against them. IF and I mean IF, Brady gets suspended, the Dolphins don't play them till mid season.

Serious stats DS has. Was going to to give you the ERA but Barry already explained it. I used to keep score at games even when it was just for fun. The Canada trip should be fun. Hope he has a blast.

To respond to deflategate...

1) Illegal. Rules clearly state PSI for footballs and they were below it.

2) True. But you got caught.

3) Also true and inexcusable. Bet that isn't going to happen again.

4) Deflating balls (Hee Hee) in the men's room in no way can be classified as anything other than tampering.

I dislike the Pats for obvious reasons. But you can't underestimate people's reaction to Belichik and the Pats for past transgressions. I don't really care, I am just enjoying the entertainment value.

What I don't like is how Brady just ran the bus over the equipment people. "Not me, THEM! What is probably going to happen is they are going to lose their jobs and that isn't fair.

If it makes you feel better, this morning I had one tooth pulled and a crown put on another.

I'm the same... but I love Coke so... **it happens.

Daughter started French in the 1st. Grade and speaks it really well. When we were in France, the people enjoyed it when this American kid would speak their native tounge. Unfortunately she was a bit self conscious about it and did not use her language skills as much as she could have.

OK, so this begs the question. Where are all the dads hanging out now that DIS is so slow? With the off and on connections I get here, I was thinking maybe, just maybe, it would be a little easier to connect. Of course I would still be checking in daily as my connection allows.

If it makes you feel better, this morning I had one tooth pulled and a crown put on another.

Actually......Well, no. Not really. I don't wish dental work on even my nemie. Never really liked going to the dentist. Would prefer to spend that hard earned money on trips to the World. Of course you may end up eating your food through a straw, but hey....Your in the World.:rolleyes1

Don't forget that the water temperature rarely gets above 70°. That should be a selling point as well. :thumbsup2
