Do you need to be staying at the resort to use one of the children's activity centers? For example, we want a date night out at Jiko's and were thinking of having DS(3) go to the activity center at AKL. However, we are not staying at that resort. Is that ok? This would be our first experience with the centers as last time DS was too young so had to use kids nite out!

I will be using them for the first time in a few months, but I was told you can use them even if you're not staying at any on site resort as long as you leave a cell phone number. I'll be putting my son in the one in AKL too.

Thank you!!!

I would just take him with you to Jiko's. Bring some coloring books, an ipad, portable dvd player? Our kids go with us to all the signatures. I figure if I have to put up with the food at some of the character buffets, they can sit through a nice dinner for DH and I.

I just prefer him not to go!!! Might sound mean but it's nice to have an adult break during our vacation here we can actually have a conversation without constant interruptions :) Plus, I'm sure he would have more fun at the kids club then sitting at dinner with us!

yes you can use the kids clubs but he has to be completely potty trained. No help, no diapers. We opted for kids night out for our two when they were three. They were potty trained but I wasn't sure they could do the go in by themselves, get pants down, wipe and put it all back together independently.

Enjoy a date night with your husband! When my kids were little, I loved going out to a nice dinner, just the two of us. Totally different experience than dining with children.

Good point! DS is potty trained but not the best at independently getting re-dressed. Guess we will be working on that for the next 6 months! Or, he will only be there 2hrs so doubt he will even use the bathroom (he tends to hold it when we are out).

Do you need to make a reservation for them?

In my experience, yes. But, I have not had any issues getting same day reservations.

And, OP, you do not need to be staying at that hotel. We use whatever one is closest to where we are going. Everyone needs a night to be an adult without the minions around :)

I have heard some people that were disappointed that they didn't make reservations in advance because those places can fill up sometimes. If you know when you're going, I would suggest making your reservation just in case.

We go to Disney 3 times a year and ALWYS have a date night. I highly recommend it- even if you talk about DS the entire time. Now that DD is 7 she loves the clubs and we have booked her 2-3 times. Two hours spartina a 7 day trip, very doable. If you are concerned about toile ting needs, just dress him in easy elastic waist clothes.

And you do not even need to be staying on property, let alone the resort to use the clubs. The kids get dinner there. We usually feed DD ahead and let her pickax the dinner. She doesn't wan to stop playing enough to actually eat at times.
