California Grill - Picture Report - Relive the experience! ADDED MAY '09 Pics Page 23

Wow! Your pictures are so amazing! I am so excited that we booked the CG for this summer. I'm not sure about trying the sushi, but everything does look very good!

We are hoping to time our dinner with the fireworks. We'll see how it works out. Now, I'm thinking maybe we should try and be finished with our meal before the fireworks start and head out to the balcony.

Just curious - what is it about the food - or your food preferences - that would keep you from eating it?

I'm one of the rare people who will not eat seafood or fish of any kind. Lobster, sushi, fish, crab, shrimp, anything like that. Just the thought of eating it makes me want to gag. But, like I said, your pics were amazing!

Your pictures are amazing! I can't wait to eat here this fall & watch Wishes from the balcony. I'm soooo excited after seeing these pics. :)

These are great photos! I keep meaning to take a tripod up to the balcony to shoot the Wishes shots, but I always bag on carrying it around with me. Plus, I think mine is too short.

Are all the sushi listed covered by the dining plan? Or are they ordered separately? We often share the snake-in-the-grass one which is good, but not as good as the Deluxe Sampler which is not covered.

I love the CG--it's the one restaurant I always go to, no matter whether we have the dining plan or not. I always intend to order something different, but the filet and the sushi keep pulling me back in.

Thank you for the feedback! As for timing of fireworks and dinner, it all works. We've (1) finished and transitioned right to the fireworks, (2) stopped dinner (between appetizers and entree), watched the fireworks, and returned to finish the meal and (3) left, took a boat ride, and returned for the fireworks. Disney is pretty gracious about facilitating all three experiences.

I used a tripod for the "Wishes from Main Street" thread, but other than that, the fireworks/night pictures were taken with ISO = 1600, handheld. Every vacation I swear I am not going to take a tripod, then I end up buying another $20 one from Wal-Mart. I think we have 5 now!

There are two exceptions to the sushi on the dining plan - I know Deluxe Sampler is excluded and I'm pretty sure snake-in-the-grass was the other - although you can order them as your entree.

I may have to try new / different dishes just to have something new to photograph!

Thankyou for the pictures the food looks wonderful:woohoo:
We have booked CG for our July tripAt 9 Would we see the sunset then as well?:confused3
How early are you allowed to go to the balcony before your table reservation?:confused3
Thankyou for all the information

Thanks again for all your great pics from CG. This was by far the best dining experience my DH & I had at the world. :cloud9: I'll be sure to post our pics after we go in Sept. Great job!:thumbsup2

1. I did a google search (orlando sunset) and it indicates that sunset in July is around 8:25 pm. If I am reading your email correctly, it sounds like the sun will have already set at the time your reservation starts.

2. You can go out to the balcony at any time - before, during, after dinner. There is no one controlling access to the walkway / door, once you are escorted from the check in desk, up the elevator, to the restaurant . If you show up for your reservation early (which is OK to do), you could get a drink from the bar and watch the sun set from the bar or the balcony!!

Thankyou so much for the information i think we will aim for 7,30 then we can watch and video the sunset then check in and enjoy the fireworks thankyou once again :goodvibes :goodvibes

Thanks again for this great thread!!!! (I posted several months ago) I am now in planning mode for my trip in November and Cali Grill will be a must. Your pictures are amazing...I guess my ressie should be about 1 1/2 - 2 hours prior to Wishes, right?

I am going to check out your other photos when I have more time but I love the one in your siggie too! :thumbsup2

First of all, congratulations in your pending marriage. I'm surprised you even have the excess mental bandwidth to think about vacation.

As for timing, it depends a little. If you are on the dining plan - which means you'll be having appetizer, entree and dessert, you might want to allow 1.5 to 2 hours. That way, you can be more certain of being finished and stroll to a speaker-spot.

On the other hand - if you are only having an entree and you know you are fast eaters, then 1 hr to 1.5 hr should be plenty!

Let's us know how it goes!

PS - What did you do as a cast member?

Awww, thank you for the well wishes on my upcoming wedding...I am not too stressed about it since it will be a small one and we are pretty prepared, for now anyway!!!

Thanks also for the dining tips...we will be on the DDP and like to take out time so I think I will plan 2 hours.

As far as the CM part, I was on the College Program back in 1990...I loved it. I worked in the Gourmet Pantry...it is now the Earl of Sandwich.

Thanks again! Love your pics! :thumbsup2

We stayed at CBR - October 1990 - I remember the tie-in between Gourmet Pantry and the original Chef Mickey's (whose menu / cookbook I have somewhere in storage!).
