I thought it was the customer service CM's on the phone that are the most accurate.
They moonlight. As bus drivers.

If true, good riddance, if not, why not?

But they live on route 66, part of the past.I don't know.... talking independently living cars seems pretty futuristic to me.
I have heard rumors of a refurb to the speedway, but not a whole overhaul.
I have heard that Disney is looking to refurbishing it and adding a Cars theme to it. Disney does acknowledge that the cars are old and need to be replaced soon.
I would personally like to see this happen, not sure if it will. I guess Im just not a fan of the current Speedway and my opinion of it is that it isnt very futuristic to me, but then again I havnt ridden on it in many years. Just my two cents.
They need to completely tear it out, not re-theme. This is a tremendous waste of space and is an attraction found in every amusement park in the country.
I was told by a construction manager that the decision has been made to tear up the Speedway and make way for a Lightning McQueen Ride?????
What they need to tear down is the Backlot Tour. Thats where they need to put the next Pixar attraction.
They should make them solar electric (no more noise or smell) and keep them.
Hi there,
I haven't been on the boards lately and this could be old news, although I was told by a construction manager that the decision has been made to tear up the Speedway and make way for a Lightning McQueen Ride????? sometime starting in 2013 ending 2014.
Just as well, I rode it the other day.
Next on the list, right after Night Kingdom and Beastly Kingdom.
