Birthdays, surprises, Magic & Merriment *3/25 New PTR Link We leave in 47 days*

The Mad Hatter: There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dec. 6th, 2010
It was another cold day in the land of Disney, not leaving the warm room was a tempting idea, but we had lunch ADR plans with TnT+C. We took a bus to Magic Kingdom then walked over to the Wilderness Lodge bus. While we were waiting Bill was cold enough to let me put his hood up but not cold enough to wrap the blanket around him:
566.jpg
The bus finally came and we made our way into the massively impressive lobby. It is gorgeous. I want to stay here one day. We met up with everyone and went to check in. The Lincoln logs were too much of a temptation for some people:
568.jpg
Bill supervised while Terry was the official photographer of the construction:
570.jpg
There are no food porn pictures. I think we all got the skillet, Terry and company were not impressed, our waitress was a complete dud and the one next to us was way over the top even for Whispering Canyon. If they could have combined the two it would have been one fantastic server.
After lunch we made our way to the dock to go to Magic Kingdom, some Wilderness Lodge pictures for your viewing pleasure:
It was just a bit cold waiting for the boat:
583.jpg
Chad was killing me with wearing only a tee shirt, apparently he didn’t obsessively go to weather.com before getting on the plane like I did. ROOKIE!!!
The boat finally arrived, it wasn’t a long wait but seemed to take forever because of the cold:
It was a nice ride and we enjoyed it. Once we got to Magic Kingdom we parted ways. Toni will have to fill us in on her report as to what they did then. I think they took stuff back to the room. We went through bag check, entered the park and I saw this:
592.jpg
It was such a beautiful bird, just hanging out and watching the crowd.
I love the way they create things with flowers and plants:
595.jpg
We headed into:
598.jpg
599.jpg
Someone kept standing up so we had to sit in the first scene twice while they got reprimanded.
Then we went to Monsters, Inc:
601.jpg
603.jpg
I know after this we went into the shops and looked around to stay warm. The goal was the Main Street Electrical Parade, we are hard core Spectromagic people and wanted to see how this parade differed.
We made our way over to the accessible location in Liberty Square. Bill likes this area because he is up front for the parade, I like it because there is a ledge where I can get off my feet for a bit. I had never tried WDW popcorn, people all around us were eating it and the smell was very enticing, so I gave in and got some. Here is Bill waiting:
604.jpg
He was all snug in Toni’s blanket. People went crazy over it all throughout our trip but really did this night. Cast members and guests kept asking us where we got it, how we got it, or where they could get one. I should have taken their info and given it to Toni. She would be rich and would be joining us again in WDW instead of having to wait until 2012 :sad1:.
Ok back to the parade, I know I was freezing and wanting to be back in the room so that had to influence my opinion but when I saw the floats and heard the music I kept comparing it to Spectro and it kept coming up short to me. I have the Spectro CD and the parade holds many wonderful memories for me. Now looking at the pictures again, it does look pretty cool and I will give it another shot (if I am not freezing). Here are some pictures:
After the parade we looked at each other and knew it was time to leave. We made our way through the shops so we would stay warmer and went to the bus stop and back to Pop. We had decided to order a pizza from the food court:
639.jpg
It wasn’t the best pizza in the world, but wasn’t the worst either, it filled us up. We were warm and talking about dreading the next day. Toni, Terry, and Chad were leaving.
Next installment… We don’t want it to end
I have never seen Spectro so I had nothing to compare MSEP to but I thought it was cute.
There seems to be some commonalities in all our trip reposrt, what could it be :scratchin......... Oh ya is was COLD :sad2:
Awww...great pictures, Tracy! Wilderness Lodge is a place I'd like to stay someday as well! But I really only want to during the holidays - it seems like the perfect resort for the cooler months!
Sounds like a nice afternoon/evening in the MK! I'm looking forward to seeing the MSEP - but I do love Spectro so much so I know it will be hard to not compare the two!
Pizza delivery to the room sounds perfect for a cold night! What was in the red foil?
Sara
Finally all caught up. Had a death in the family and your TR gave me something to smile about.
The Dooney bag is cute. I like them but there is now way I will ever spend that kind of money on one. I need the really BIG ones since I travel everywhere with the grandkids. I love visiting the resorts at Christmas, they are so pretty.
I have never seen Wilderness Lodge it is on the list for one day. MSEP is nice, it was the first parade we ever saw in Disney but I admit I think I like Spectromagic better. I kept waiting for that music to start last trip. I just get so excited when I hear the music for Spectro.
We went in December last year and it was cold too but maybe not as cold as you all seem to have been. My DH actually bought a hoodie to wear and this man never wears a coat so it might have been. At least you didn't have all the rain to go with the cold.
I'm old school. Like the MSEP way better than Spectro!
Sorry you got such a dud waitress at WCC. This is one of those places we haven't tried yet, because Jimmy wouldn't dow well with the noise. We are hoping that by the enxt time we go he will be able better to control it:thumbsup2
Thanks for the picks of WL, made me think of mom:)
I am a hardcore Spectro girl too. I don't even think we are gonna have a chance to she MSEP. It starts at 9 and we have 9:30 ADR in the castle. So we will checking in there about 9:15.
Now you said some magical words....did you say you have the spectro CD? If so would it be possible to burn me a copy? I have looked for it online, and it always is either hard to find, or out of my price range.
Tracy and Bill !! Been so long since I read one of your TRs!
Bill is so cute and comfy in his blanket. And it looks like you guys had a fabulous time at HDD (and before, and after :)).
MSEP is Grumpy's worst nightmare. She hates the music, it drives her nuts, plus we kept on getting caught behind the ropes during the 2nd parade and she had to hear the whole thing all over again - that happened to us twice in a week :rotfl:
The snowglobe Bill got you is beautiful, did they let you bring it back with you on the plane or did you have to ship it home ?
Off to read TnT's TR now, I wanna know what happened at the car show.
Tracy, I feel the same way about Spectro vs. MSEP... hands down, Spectro wins! :thumbsup2 (Although MSEP is fun, too.) I guess we're just stuck in our ways!
Brrr! Chad must've been cold!
I was laughing when you said that if you could combine the two WCC servers, it would've made one good one! :lmao:
Gosh, I hope it warmed up for you eventually!
Kathy
I also agree that Spectro beats MSEP hands down and I was really looking forward to MSEP. It just seemed old and tired to me.
I hate that it was so cold for you - we've been there when it's been freezing, comfortable and hot and freezing is the worst for me.
I haven't seen Spectro in years, but for me, because MSEP reminds me of being a kid, I just love it. It's more sentimental for me than anything else. It was the only night parade they had when we first started going.
I would agree that you should check it out again when the weather is better. Being cold can definitely put a damper on anything.
I just loved the Spectro music, the story that went with us, well everything!! Way too cold!!!
WL is simply gorgeous, it is stunning. Breadsticks came in the red foil.
So sorry to hear about your loss :hug:. Oh you need to go see WL one day, it is beautiful. I know about the Spectro music starting up, I just love the beginning of it.
You know, I think it is because Spectro was the first night time parade I saw and I associate so many lovely memories with it, probably the same thing for you and MSEP. I hope things go well with Jimmy if you decide to try WCC, they do have that smaller room at the back of the restaurant, you could request that. We have eaten in there and it is quieter there. I thought of you the day we were there :hug:.
Hope you have a good time at CRT. I should have said "had" the CD. I have it on my MP3 player, when we moved I seemed to have misplaced the actual CD, I can't imagine what happened to it. I do know that as of our trip they still had the CD in many of the stores in WDW. It is well worth the money :goodvibes.
HI MARINA!! I am so happy you are here. We had a great time at Hoop. Grumpy cracks me up, she is too cute. Hilarous about getting caught by MSEP twice. The snowglobe was really protected in the box, I put it in my checked luggage wrapped up in my Mickey blanket and Bill's Dodger blanket with no problems at all. I hope you read TnT's TR, his pictures are wonderful.
I miss Spectro :sad1:. Our server was S L O W too, she was really aggravating Terry. Well, I will let you know now, it NEVER warmed up.
I also agree that Spectro beats MSEP hands down and I was really looking forward to MSEP. It just seemed old and tired to me.
I hate that it was so cold for you - we've been there when it's been freezing, comfortable and hot and freezing is the worst for me.
Cold is really bad for Bill, he can't drive the chair as well and he shakes. It makes me worry about him and I don't like being cold either.
I haven't seen Spectro in years, but for me, because MSEP reminds me of being a kid, I just love it. It's more sentimental for me than anything else. It was the only night parade they had when we first started going.
I understand about MSEP being sentimental, that is the way Spectro is for me.
Love love love Spectro! :banana:
So do we :dance3:!
Tracy just looking at your pictures is making me cold!! :rotfl2: When we went last Feb it was the coldest trip we've ever taken to WDW. The wind just beat you down and you just ended up exhausted by the end of the day!
It looks like you guys had a really good trip and I'm so glad. I can't wait to start reading about the next one! Have you started yet??? I'm thinking of starting a PTR for our July trip. We are bringing friends from home who've never been which is a FIRST for us. We'll see how that goes! :rotfl:
Thanks for the pics of MSEP! We miss it dearly! :sad1:
I guess it's a matter of what you grew up with and what brings those memories back. We saw Spectro for the first time a few years ago, and thought it was "Meh", but we love, love, love our MSEP. :love: I have fond memories of sitting on my Dad's shoulders watching it as a child.
Loved the pics of WL - so pretty with all it's holiday decor!
You are so right about the wind, it was brutal. I won't start a PTR until this one is finished. If you start one please let me know. Oh have fun with bringing newbies :rotfl:.
Dec. 7th, 2010
1. There is a magical place that can make you shrink so you feel like a little kid with no worries at all
2. There is a message board that can make your facebook list and pm box grow
3. Characters can talk
4. Shyness can disappear to where you book a trip to meet your online friends in person
5. This place is called Walt Disney World and meeting those people was better than we EVER imagined
6. I couldn’t stop the feeling that my heart was breaking when those friends had to go back to reality
Today was the day Bill and I had been dreading, the day Toni, Terry, and Chad were leaving. We really liked Chad. He was funny, kind, a wonderful guy. We were blessed to have met all of them. Bill and I got up and went to the Pop food court to grab a bite, we had been texting with TnT, Chad was gone at this point and they said they would meet us at the food court.
They came, we talked and talked, I could hardly look at Toni, I knew if I did I would start ugly crying. It was time for them to go, so we said our goodbyes. I had to go to the bathroom, mostly to get myself composed. When I came out Bill said I had missed Toni she had come back. We went outside the doors at Everything Pop and I sat at a bench. Bill knew I was really upset. I looked over at the front doors and saw TnT waiting for the Magical Depress:
642.jpg
I admit it, I lost it
CryBaby.gif
. I took one look at them, then looked at Bill and started crying. He just held my hand and let me cry.
I asked if we could get on a bus, I didn’t want to watch them get on ME and leave, so we headed for the DHS queue. I was still a mess when we got off the bus, we were headed to the boat dock to go to the back of Epcot. We just love this boat ride, so relaxing. On our way to the dock, I saw this and smiled:
643.jpg
This reminded me of our DIS friend Jordan. He likes pictures of people sleeping in WDW.
So pretty:
We got on the boat and in no time we were at Epcot. We love walking in through the International Gateway, nothing against Future World but the World Showcase is just gorgeous. We were headed to Canada. We had a date here:
650.jpg
The Canadian pavilion is just beautiful. We had a little wait and Bill went driving around a bit while I waited for us to be called. There was a family off to the side, looked like a grandma, her daughter, and the daughters children. The grandma and her daughter were arguing. It was over something really stupid. I could tell they were both tired, but it annoyed me. I really wanted to say “stop, just stop, look where you are. There are thousands of people that would trade places with you in a second, these petty arguments will mean nothing in a day, LET.IT.GO!!”, but I was a good girl, I kept my mouth shut. Thankfully a server came out and called our name and we went in.
You know how people are constantly having problems getting a reservation? This is how the room looked when we walked in:
652.jpg
It looked like this in the other direction too. This was about 4:45pm. WHAT WAS UP WITH THAT???
It was time to start making our way toward the American Gardens Theater to see Jodi Benson doing the Candlelight Processional. I had to stop off in France first to get this:
661.jpg
Bill, keep your hand AWAY from my Grey Goose Slushie!! YUMMY GOODNESS!!
Now we could go off toward the American pavilion. Oh there was a LONG line for the show, thank goodness we had our sticker badges or whatever you call them. A cast member was walking the line making sure everyone had their stickers. She spotted us and said the wheelchairs/ECV’s had to be in another line. We followed her to that area. Come to find out the wheelchair/ECV’s are lead in a couple minutes before the mad rush because there are only so many spots they can be parked.
663.jpg
The people on the right are waiting to get in too. See how the line went all the way down to Japan?
I was still thinking of my friend Toni:
665.jpg
We were lead into the theater and I took a ton of pictures. I will continue in the next post.
Next Installment…. CLP with Jodi Benson aka The Little Mermaid
Ariel: [singing] Up where they walk / Up where they run / Up where they stay all day in the sun / Wanderin' free / Wish I could be / Part of that world...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have always loved Jodi Benson’s voice and was ecstatic to see that she would be doing the Candlelight Processional. I couldn’t wait for the show to start, so I took pictures to occupy myself. The seats behind us:

668.jpg

The seats in front of us were for family members of the performers and singers:

669.jpg

We loved the orchestra:

674.jpg

The trumpets were amazing:

676.jpg

The Voices of Liberty give me goosebumps:

681.jpg

Before Jodi came out:

688.jpg

Oh there she is:

691.jpg

Without the zoom:

707.jpg

Thank goodness they have heaters for Jodi and the performers, look at that dress:

702.jpg

We loved her telling of the Christmas story, she was so animated and wonderful. It
was a amazing experience for us:

708.jpg

After it ended was sat and waited for the theater to empty then walked through Future World to the busses. We were tired, it was an emotional day and it was time to just relax in the room and regroup.

Next installment…DTD non park day

:hug: I hate good byes too.

How awesome to hear Ariel telling the Christmas story!!
