Biggest Loser Fall Challenge!

Hi all,

Well scale wasn't as nasty as I thought it was going to be so that motivates me to get moving. Haven't been eating much and drinking lots of CL iced tea.

Hope to get on elliptical for a while this afternoon. I am giving 3 massages this morning so we'll have to see how much energy I have left. I have my tea made and am having some water.

Rainy day here today! No soccer practice for Izzie so I'll be home for the day at 3:30. Got 2 clients tomorrow morning.

We recorded Elementary last night. Probably watch that tonight. I recorded Scandal.

Belledreamer- You will have a fight on your hands as my DSIL LOVES Spencer as well! She follows him on Twitter too!

Well, time to finish getting ready for work and school.

Here's everyone having a super day!

TTFN :tigger:

Good Morning all!!
I have to laugh because I read the QOD and thought it said "what old or new SHOES are you looking forward to" and I thought there are these really cute pair of boots that I want to go get tonight after work :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

My youngest controls the TV so outside of an occasional football game that I get to watch it is Thomas movies and Winnie the Pooh movies!!

things have been hectic with the promotion to manager (did I mention that?) Can't seem to get a handle on it yet but it truly is only week 1 so....

Football games tonight but I have to say my oldest DS is going to be the death of me....he had me wash his home game jersey the other night so that a SENIOR GIRL could wear it!!! He is a freshman.....AAAUUUGGGHHH!!!! They "hung out" at our towns Octoberfest last night and she brought him home, PLUS we have a new interest in volleyball...yep you guessed it!!! She is a varsity v-ball player and she brought him home after the game the other night :crazy2: She is 18 I believe already and he will by 15 in a month...if they were out of school it would not be a big deal but at this age.....
I told my DH he better have a lengthy "chat" with him.....

Well I have a day full of "manager" type meetings as my boss is OOT so I am filling in for him at a few...

Hope everyones week went well....I do get on and Lurk when I have a few mintues but just have not had time to really catch up....hopefully soon!!!!!

:jumping1::jumping1::jumping1:

Just got the call that my new grandaughter made her appearance at 2am today.

Will be stopping by to see her friday on the way to the beach.:love:

Wonder if the kids will let me take her to the beach with me. :moped:

Probably not but we may just take the grandson off their hands for the weekend.

HUGE congratulations on the arrive of a new princess in your family!! What a special day!

Good Thursday morning everyone.

Good luck to anyone going off for a race this weekend.

I spent a great day off. I sewed in the morning. I made a table runner for my dinning room table and one for a friend who is moving. For my friend I made one with lighthouses and onthe opposite side a beach scene. For us I made a halloween one. I will try to get a picture of it. ON it I placed a Jim Shore piece (he does sculptures with quilt themes) that depict the three hitchhiking ghosts and then added three tombstones we found at DW last month. The Jim Shore piece is dh's birthday present and it came on Tuesday. I told him he could open it early (birthday Oct31) so that we can use it for the month.

Sounds delightful!!Question of the Day

Do you use a lot of Disney in your holiday decorations?

I don't do much decorating for Halloween. I don't care for the event and I limit my decorating to mostly "fall" decor.... but no Disney. Just a few pumpkins and scarecrow. I have two wooden Halloween signs that I put out just for Trick or Treat night (one on each door).

For Christmas I do have several Disney pieces, plus our tree is about 75% Disney decorations.

Congrats!

Sorry to be so M.I.A. lately... Really busy day today. Having a large gathering this weekend so today was 'crazy cleaning of the house' day. Did a load of laundry, cleared the dishwasher and washed the water bottles in the sink, cleaned the bathroom, took out the garbage and ran errands...all before noon! :cool1:

I love days like that! I feel so accomplished when I get a lot done before lunch!:thumbsup2

On top of all that, last week we found termites so we had the exterminators here today, plus we had to move the woodpile so that he could spray around the house. Fun... :rolleyes2

Ewww on the termites! You should never store wood up near your house just for that reason. But I guess moving the woodpile was a GREAT workout!

So it feels good to finally get some rest this afternoon before cleaning the rest of the house tomorrow. Not to mention that I have to bake a brownie trifle for the gathering. Which has chocolate syrup and caramel and whipped cream and chocolate chips and all the other yummy stuff that I shouldn't be eating. Must exercise self control!!!

YUM! Now I will try to forget what I just read!!

Was able to get to Zumba last night and did much better than the last time. Last time, I pushed myself too hard, got over-heated and ended up throwing up in the kitchen sink... That is one thing that I've really had to learn is to pace myself and not beat myself up over not being able to keep up with everybody. So I ended up bringing a cooler with 2 water bottles and a freezer pack which really helped bring my temperature down when I started getting too hot. Thinking I may do that more often. :scratchin

Great idea! How about a wet washcloth in your cooler as well, to wipe your face between songs??

And for the best news, we got our luggage tags for Disney in!! Getting excited now!

WOOHOO!! The countdown is on!

Hope everyone has a great weigh-in tomorrow!

And a little something for the Sherlock fans on here:

tumblr_mam87f1eQh1qb6m4c.gif

Get it?

Cute hedgehog, but I don't get the joke cause I'm not a Sherlock fan. Is it a tv show or movie??

Yay! I live winning!

I'll bet you love winning too!! ;)

I don't have too many Disney decorations, but I am trying to add things after each holiday when they are on sale/clearance. I bought a white 3ft fiber optic tree last year & a bunch of Disney ornaments for it, so that'll go in my dining room this year. I can't wait. DH thinks I'm nutso, so I'm glad I can share my excitement with other Disney freaks lol!

I would love to have more Disney decorations, but I am trying to limit my amount of decorations to a bare minimum. We have little/no company for any of the holidays and it really just seems like a waste of time and space to put out a lot of decor and then put it away a few weeks later (other than a tree, of course). And many of the holiday decor pieces that I do have have sentimental value, so I don't want to ditch them.

That said, I LOVE drooling over the Disney decorations after the holidays on clearance and I DREAM of the day when I have the time/money/energy/space to indulge in them! I could TOTALLY appreciate your Disney tree in the dining room! Share a picture when it is up this year!

WARNING: RANT-I had an absolutely terrible day at work today. In fact, during our teacher lunch meeting, I almost walked out. There's a lot of mismanagement in our small company & I'm so sick of being dumped on while others don't do their jobs. I teach 6 different History classes a day plus do 1/2 of the special Ed work (tons of documentation & paperwork). I'm just getting burnt out. It probably doesn't help that I work in an alternative Ed program for kids with behavior problems, huh? But, I ate 6 Hershey kisses, came home & went to the gym for an hour. I feel much better now, but am dreading tomorrow since I have an iep I need to work on. Sorry to ramble, but I just had to get this frustration off my chest! I am looking for a new job ASAP. That's stressful also!

I hope everyone has an awesome weigh in tomorrow! I'll be back then to check in. Have a great night & as a semi-Steelers fan (it's hard not to be when we live so close), I don't say this often, but go Browns tonight!

Jill

Working in a traditional school setting is stressful enough. I cannot IMAGINE working in your situation. Plus not getting enough support!!?? It must be insane! I'm sure that your stress level is insane! pixiedust: Pixie dust that your work days start improving!!

IHi, I'm Tracey and I'll be your coach this week! I have done several challenges but due to a lot of stress and crazy work schedule I have fallen off the wagon and looking forward to getting back where I was at the beginning of the summer. I'll have some fun questions this week and some thought provoking ones.

THANKS for coaching Tracey!
This first question is based on my very over active TIVO tonight!

Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?

I have a few "core" favorites. Everything else I can take or leave. Survivor is my #1, "don't ever miss" show. I've been a huge fan since day #1!!

We also watch The Amazing Race as a family. It is a fun show to watch together... but if we miss it occasionally it isn't tragic. The kids and I also watch Glee.... some weeks it is better than others. I'm starting to think that it may be approaching the end of its usefulness.

Other things that I record on the DVR??.... Hmmm.. Great Food Truck Race, History Detectives, and Face Off. I usually watch DWTS as well, but so far I'm not sure I'll be enthralled with this season. I'll be rooting for Apolo and maybe Sabrina if/when I watch. I do NOT watch the results show on Tuesdays..... I don't need to spend an hour of my time rehashing the previous night's show just to find out who is sent home. DS and I like to watch Mythbusters and DD and I occasionally catch ANTM, but she is so busy with school, that it is hit or miss, even on the DVR.

That's about it. I do have a few other things that record occasionally, but nothing else that I can think of that I MUST watch.

*****************

Kids will be in here in 9 minutes and I haven't read the plans yet! :rotfl:Time to dash!..............P

I *hate* my scale this morning! I've been sooo good and it just hates me! I was down more earlier in the week but it seems that my body wants to show an uptick in weight the more I run and workout. I know it all evens out in the end and my clothes are fitting great but it sure would be nice if that scale would move too! :(

Hey guys, it's been awhile. School and work are literally insane. When I'm not at school I'm at work, when I'm not at work I'm with my family, or working out or working on some hobbies.

I'm down .2 from my starting.

Hope you all are doing great!! Everyone in our town (including me) is catching colds this week so I'm not feeling too hot.

QOTD: Ugh, you know how many shows I have to watch this fall? Hawaii 5-0, The Middle, Psych (when it starts in winter!), Modern Family, Suburgatory, Big Bang Theory, and Elementary (recorded, haven't watched it yet).

Lately I've been doing more exercise but my running has stalled a lot and I couldnt' figure out why. I couldn't run very far at all. Two days ago I decided to pull out my old nikes that I started with in January. I put them back after Disney because they had been through a lot and started on some new ones which I thought were fine. Well I was wrong, because I got on the treadmill and made it through 3 miles easy. I love those things so much. I see why runners hold on until they fall apart. They've been through 2 5ks a half marathon, 15 miles a day at disney and countless miles in training.

On another notes it's possible that we are....
GOING TO DISNEY IN DECEMBER!!!
We have to make sure everything is going to work out, but we are booked the week before Christmas. It was a very last minute decision, we've always wanted to go and have been getting a lot of things paid off. We just came back in June so this is kind of crazy for us. With that said, it gives me one more reason to lose my goal this fall. I'm beyond excited, we'd go to MVMCP, we've only ever been May-August. YAY!

 Please try NOT to be too frustrated with the number. I totally understand how you are feeling and have moments just like that! BUt don't get frustrated and what ever you do... DON'T GIVE UP!! The number will reflect your hard work eventually!!!

WOOHOO on a possible Disney trip!!! I'm envious you get to go during the holidays!! I've been January, March, April, May.... but haven't been in December since 1974!! :rotfl2: Fingers crossed that this will work out for you!

**********

Okay friends.... morning went okay and now the kids are off to Music. I'm only in this class until 11:30 am and then I will hop to another class for the afternoon. That is a bit unusual for the elementary school, but apparently there is a big half day meeting going on.

Tummy is growling.... oatmeal was delish, but obviously I should have planned a morning snack. I did grab a Luna Protein bar just in case.... might make a cup of tea before I get the kids and have the bar and tea during snack time. But if I get lunch break at 11:30, I won't even be hungry by then. I might just have the tea and try to hold off.

Scale wasn't so great this morning, but after last weekend's movie candy/popcorn splurge and not nearly enough exercise, I'm not terribly surprised. Just .2 over what I consider the high end of my MAX
maintenance range. Will need to kick things up a bit next week.

Off to chat on the scrapping board!................P

You are sooooooooooooooo going to love it. We went the first week in Dec. in '07 and it was amazing!! Can't wait to go back again during that time...also want to go back in Oct for Halloween. I got a taste of it while in CA a few weeks ago and really want to go to FL during that season with the family to do the party and everything!!

Hello all! :wave2:

I have a lot of catching up to do but just have to share this

222036_420281991368037_1148426185_n.jpg

Congrats to indygirl99 on your new grandbaby! :flower3:

GREAT Quote that is what I am feeling right now!!!

Good evening all!

Going to answer a QOTD before I move on: For Halloween I have some plastic light up pumpkins. One is a Tigger face, another is Tinkerbell and another is Mickey Mouse. This year we also have a Perry Pumpkin that we used at our NEDismeet 2 weeks ago. If you see any photos from the event especially of the podcast you will see it. My cold weather costume is a Tigger costume. Not sure what I will be this year. I need to get thinking about that.

So Sorry I have been so MIA. This have been unusually chaotic around here the past few weeks with school starting, DH starting a new job, dancing and soccer starting and the girls and I being sick since last Saturday. We all went back to school and work today despite not feeling 100% but sometimes you just need to push through.

I like to post my questions the night before so I don't forget! I will try and get on during the afternoon tomorrow for replies. I have to work until 1:30 and then do some errands. If it rains I will have some extra time. I will be starting fresh with my weigh in tomorrow as I have been HORRIBLE since being sick! With this cold all I wanted to do was eat and very poor stuff so hopefully being your coach this week will get me back in a healthy mode! Feed a cold, starve a fever! I didn't have a fever at all but the cold was a dousy!

OK, here goes!

Hi, I'm Tracey and I'll be your coach this week! I have done several challenges but due to a lot of stress and crazy work schedule I have fallen off the wagon and looking forward to getting back where I was at the beginning of the summer. I'll have some fun questions this week and some thought provoking ones.

This first question is based on my very over active TIVO tonight!

Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?

I record a lot of shows. I try to watch some of them on demand when I do the elliptical which I plan on starting up again sometime this weekend!

For returning shows I'm looking forward to Grey's Anatomy, Scandal (yeah, they start tonight). We also love Big Bang Theory. We're watching Person of Interest right now. We really enjoy Doctor Who (will be very sad with Saturday's finale). We watch CSI and CSI New York. We like Survivor and Amazing Race. Loved Private Practice last night too!

I have trouble sleeping some nights so now I will have something to watch when that happens.

Man, I watch WAY TOO MUCH tv!

Have a great Thursday night! I'll catch you guys tomorrow!

Don't forget to send in your weigh ins to kollerbear! She has been very good at reminding me each week as I've been quite forgetful lately!

TTFN :tigger:

Hi Tracy - Thanks for coaching this week!

My fave returning shows are : Once upon a Time, The AMazing Race, Mike & Molly, Hell on Wheels .. :happytv:
I watched Grey's last night first time in a LONG time and am hooked again.. New shows: Revolution, 666 Park Ave, Last Resort,

Quick post before we leave to go see the new grandbaby and head to the beach. It appears we will get to take the grandson with us, so DH will have to change his plans to hit the casino while we are down there. Maybe I will tell him the aquarium has slot machines. :rotfl2:

I do most of my TV watching on Demand since I work crazy hours. I really like anything on the Food Network. Got hooked on Face Off the first season and just watched the new show after face off called Hot Set. I watched Greys Anatomy last night and got into the show right after that that I'm afraid I will have to be watching also.

Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?

I'm loving X Factor this year- didn't last year- but the contestants are REALLY talented. Britney's golf clap for each contestant is getting on my nerves but otherwise- loving it.
I'm waiting for Hart of Dixie to come back as cheesy as that is :)

Congrats on the promotion! There is a great website about managing that I like called Ask a Manager dot org. There is also a site with free resources, meant for non-profits, but useful in other sectors as well: http://managementcenter.org/resources

Sorry to hear that! I've been there! But you know you are doing the right things - stick with it!

I can sympathize with the running shoes! I've only ever had two pair that I loved. I hope your holiday Disney trip works out!!

*******
I'm having a bit of an off week. I've done my planned workouts, but struggling a little more than usual regarding food. I didn't get a chance to weigh in this morning, but will see tomorrow if I did any damage or managed to maintain.

QOTD: TV Shows
I am looking forward to the return of 30 Rock and a few others that are totally escaping my brain at the moment. There are so many new shows that I'd like to check out but have already missed several premieres! I wanted to try Go On (because I'll watch anything with Matthew Perry and enjoyed the pilot over the summer), The New Normal, Ben & Kate, and the Mindy Project. I've never watched Amazing Race before but would like to. But my poor TiVo is already double booked for most of primetime. Sigh. (Total first world problem!:groom:)

I don't really get to watch t.v I would like to say something motivational here like, such as I am super busy or we don't watch t.v we rather read, but sadly my ds 19 months has it on sprout all day, he doesn't watch it all day but it stays on less headache for me lol. But I love my dvr. My shows are true blood, scandal and the Simpsons( I have been watching it my whole life) true blood is sadly finished the other two just started I totally recommend scandal ABC, they actually hit a home run with this show.

This has been a great week so far, but I learned my lesson after having to wet a whole package of Halloween Oreos lol. My mom brought them over for my son and I wanted something sweet of course instead of a piece of fruit I ate like five Oreos and I couldn't stop so I threw them in the sink and turned on the water. I have done tis a couple times. I am seriously added to sweets and I know I just can't have one so I make them unappetizing , and then throw them out. So no more buying sweets and junk food plus my sons don't need to start on a bad habit.

I'm only down .2 this week. Finances have been tight and I'm anticipating pay day. I need to sit down this weekend and make out a meal plan and grocery list. I haven't ever done a lot of "grocery" shopping at Family Dollar before but I think I'm going to start. No, obviously I can't get like produce or things like that but items such as toiletries, cans of soup, etc. I'm trying to cut costs and still trying to figure out how to go about it. I also want to check out the local farmers market for our produce. I just need to remember to actually do it.

I'm open to any suggestion on how to cut a grocery bill

Its raining here today so I think I'll get n my Wii for some cardio. I was going to do it last night but then upon turning the system on I realized the batteries were dead in both the remote AND the board, OYE!

Sorry I have been really MIA this week. Just one of those weeks. I gained a bit on monday, but I am down a bit today. I am still up by .6 for the month though. So here's to October! :goodvibes
On a positive note, I completed C25K W7D1 that I have been struggling with for a while now, so I feel accomplished.

Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?

I am a huge Fringe fan and that comes back tonight. We tend to fill up our DVR every week (and only watch a handful of the shows). Early in the year we tend to DVR all of the new shows and see which ones interest us. The new normal falls a little flat, but I am really liking Revolution. We havent watched any of the others on the DVR yet.

Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?

The only network TV I watch is NCIS (started Tuesday) and Biggest Loser. I haven't watched it the last few seasons because its been more drama then I care for. However, Jillian Michaels is coming back so I'm excited for January! :)

I find that if you plan your meals and then see what you have and just get what you need. Also remember how much your family eats of something, because you might buy a lot of something that is on sale but it really isn't a deal if you have to toss it away for spoiling.

Loving all your replies about tv shows! I forgot a lot of stuff I watch!

Pam- Love Great Food Truck Race! Going to be an interesting finale!

Can't wait for Once Upon a Time. DH just played a trailer he saw online and it looks awesome!

Watching CSI:NY right now! Already watched Project Runway and the Lego Star Wars cartoon that was on last night. I watched Grey's and Scandal today.

Had a so so day at work. Only had two clients and then ran errands after picking Ash up. This congestion is going to be the death of me! Luckily my 2nd client was a regular and knew I had been sick. I coughed off and on through his massage.

Didn't do elliptical tonight due to the congestion. Hope to do it tomorrow at some point. I have 2 massages to give in the morning and possible 2 soccer games to attend before going out to dinner with friends tomorrow night while the girls go to DSILs! Been raining all day so the morning game could be canceled.

Saturday QOTD: Are there any foods that you would never eat or try before you set out on this journey to healthier eating? What have you found that you really love now?

I have really been enjoying eggplant more than I ever did before. I get breaded eggplant from TJs and have them with some fat free mozzarella cheese. They have lots of protein. I have also discovered some soy nuts that I enjoy. I have found protein to be my biggest ally in this battle of the bulge! I have a healthy meal shake with extra protein every morning with skim milk. I think I will be eating a lot of soup this winter. I love the light Progresso soups.

Have a healthy enjoyable weekend! I'm going to have protein shakes for breakfast and lunch tomorrow so I can enjoy my dinner out!

Question of the Day

Do you use a lot of Disney in your holiday decorations?

I don't decorate for Halloween ... just some fall decorations. I do have my Christmas decoration but not a lot of Disney decorations. The only Disney decorations I have are the ornaments from our Disney trips. Every time we go on vacation, I buy a Christmas ornament that has a Santa Claus on it (my tree is all Santas).

Sorry that I have been MIA, I have been reading though. I have had a lot of stress in the last week and a half and am eating everything I can get my hands on. I just do not feel motivated to work on losing right now as it feels like one more thing that I do not have control over. I know that if I exercise I feel better so that is something that I am trying to do. Sorry for the vent.

I am so sorry. I am having a really hard time getting into a weight-loss mode this time too. I have been able to maintain, but not lose. I am giving myself a little break since work and home is always so hectic at this time. Things are finally calming down so I might be able to focus again.

Hoping you can remotivate yourself .... and step away from the food! ;)

Jill

Hey Jill, I am so sorry. I used to work in a building where I would get dumped on too. (It gets old really fast!) I am now very lucky to work in a building with some great co-workers and an awesome principal. However, at the beginning of this school year, some of my co-workers that I used to work with starting causing some issues that were about to affect us. Our principal stepped in and stopped it. My only concern is that I am pretty sure my principal is going to retire next year and I am very worried about who will fill her shoes. I have had 8 principals over my working career and I have had some REALLY bad ones. I really hope your job turns around. (Insert a hug smilie here!)

Friday's Question of the Day: What old and new shows are you looking forward to this season?

TTFN :tigger:

I don't get to watch too much tv but when I do, I love The Middle, Modern Family, 30 Rock and Grimm. I am interested in 666 Park Ave. and The Revolution (has this already started?).

My sons are watching reruns of Lost on Netfix. I really loved that show. I wish there was another show Lost .... :rolleyes2

Congrats on your promotion! That is awesome.

And hoping your son's situation works the way you want it to. My oldest son hung around a lot of older students when he was a freshman (girls included). He just really seemed to bond with them. He went to proms and homecoming with a few of them ... but never dated them. He is still good friends with a lot of them and I have to say they helped him with his transition to college.

Good for you! Oreos are a weakness of mine. I throw a lot of things out that my Mom brings to my house ... but I never thought of putting water on it first. I actually think that would feel rewarding.

My husband's birthday is this Thursday. My mom today called and said, "Don't make a cake. I have one for my DS's birthday." .... now some back history on this is that my mom sees a cake reduced at our local grocery store's bakery and buys it then freezes it for some later date. Now, the cakes aren't that great when the are fresh ... let alone when they have been frozen! I told my mom that my DS does not want this kind of cake for his birthday ... but my mom has insisted that he will love it.

Now ... I get home and tell my DS this story and he just shakes his head (because he doesn't want this cake). I told him that she won't listen to me and that he has to man-up and tell her tomorrow that he doesn't want it. And the wimp says, " We will just have her cake." I kept telling him he is a chicken to tell her and he kept laughing saying I won't be her favorite if I tell her! I told him, I don't want any complaining and he better eat his piece of this cake! :cool1:

(I think I will be pouring water over the rest of the cake once my Mom leaves.) :rotfl2:

I really try to buy meat in bulk and freeze meal sized packets. I only buy "junk food" if I have a coupon for it. And I really try to plan out my meals. I know what I will be making the day before and have a rough plan for the week.

Also, really look through your pantry, frig and freezer and see what you have there that you can cook. I go through periods where I try to eat by using what I have already bought. You would be surprised at what you can come up with.

I would also ask Pam for help with this. She is a real cooking pro!

Hope this helps. :)

Saturday QOTD: Are there any foods that you would never eat or try before you set out on this journey to healthier eating? What have you found that you really love now?
TTFN :tigger:

I have grown to love salmon and broccoli. And the great part is both of them are so low-cal that I can as much as I want. :) My family has also grown to love a few more healthier things too. (An added bonus!)

I have never understood the whole "Martin Freeman looks like a hedgehog" thing. I mean, really:

But...I still laughed.

Mike

I've gotta say that it's the hair. :goodvibes

Besides, Benedict Cumberbatch DOES remind me of an otter...

so Martin needed an animal too! ;)
