Food needs to be shaded from the sun. There is no way to protect the quality, if the food is unwrapped, flies get it. If the food is wrapped, moisture comes to the surface and collects inside the wrapper, then soaks back into the food in a different manner making the food soggy. Also, wrapped chocolate or chocolate chip cookies melt in sunlight even on a cool day.
