Avis Shuttle post Disney Cruise

Has anyone booked Avis rental car after getting off the Disney Cruise at Port Canaveral? Wondering how the shuttle service works. Do we schedule them to pick us up, or do they run regular shuttles? Are there signs for the shuttle pickup area? This is the first time we are not driving and parking at the garage.

We are planning on doing a one way rental from Port Canaveral and returning it to MCO.

Avis runs regular shuttles from the terminal to their location. As you exit the building you'll see signs and people directing you to the pickup spot.

We almost always get Avis after and before a Port Canaveral cruise. Their one day rentals are a better buy than DCL shuttles.

They run regular shuttles. The DCL CM’s tell you where to wait.

What time would you put on the Avis reservation for car pickup? I'm concerned about losing the reservation if we miss the set time. Thank you!

They normally hold a reservation for 24 hours, so you'd have to be really late... :)
Having queued for over an hour to pick up a rental car at one of the port locations in January, that’s probably a good thing😀. We had also waited between 30 and 45 minutes in a queue at the port to catch the shuttle. If you usually use one of the skip-the-line rental affinity programs at airport locations, it seems like a different rental experience when picking up at the port.

That's what I'm afraid of. Hoping to hear feedback from others regarding the efficiency of the shuttle service as well as how insane it would be at the rental counter.

That can depend on how many ships are returning to PC that morning, and secondarily how many departed the prior afternoon. The car rentals at the port don't have large lots and thus are largely dependent on turn-over traffic. On a day with a lot of ships in port, it's possible for longer waits because the rental returns (coming from those who will be embarking later in the day) aren't all in yet. Add to that the simple fact that unlike an airport where flights are coming in throughout the day, pretty much all ships debark in the morning before 9am so everyone is there at the same time.

National/Enterprise and Alamo always seem to have the shortest lines. Avis can get busy, but the one time we used them it wasn't too bad. We did Budget once, and never again. The lines at MCO and at PC were crazy!! (And it seems that way whenever we pass by them).
