Australian Karen's Trip report: be gentle with me

Nice picture of David and I enjoying Palo brunch. David was sure enjoying his wine!
Funny about the dress code at Palo.
When we first arrived to check in David was wearing shorts and was politely told that shorts or jeans were not allowed. We slunk quickly and quietly back to the cabin where he changed into his one and only pair of good trousers and headed back to try again. Luckily we were approved for entry second time around. We had a really good laugh about it.
The food was great and it was good to catch up with you again. The dolphins we saw that day were amazing.
Cathy

thought you'd like the photo :) reminds us of all the carbs we had that day.
So you settled back into life ????
I'm still trying to get back into the swing of things....already making lists for next year of what I NEED to buy/do/ not do.

yeah the dress regs were a bit of a bummer....although it says plainly on booking res that there is a dress code so I have no idea how I missed that one...just thought brunch would be a lot more casual......

have a great day..:wizard:

I am a little late joining in, but better late than never. I am glad that you had a good time.

Something interesting that I noticed was that I think we had the same seat in Cinderella's royal table :wizard: small world.

Day at Sea- 1 October 2011

After palo......Dh decided to use his day spa pass....I did the gym in preperation for tonights dinner...

Once again we choose to eat in room.......as I had a bit of packing to do...

and then the packing....

I've really enjoyed your trip report Karen :) Love the way your luggage has multiplied as the trip has gone one :)

I'm not usually one for food porn, but those desserts - yum!

Good catch...i draw them on all my bags...makes it easier to see on the baggage carousel of progress :thumbsup2

thanks guys for reading my report..I wondered if anyone would....so i sent the link to a few mates...they now know I'm nuts, rather than think i may be..

looking forward to other peoples reports, so get it together people!!!:grouphug:

thanks for sharing this. we're going on this cruise 11th december; i'd love to upgrade to a concierge suite but with two kids i doubt that'd happen. i'm just gonna be happy enough with being on board. we've done a p&o cruise before and only have that to compare this one to, so your pics and commentary have kind of given us an idea of what to expect.

Sunday 2 October 2011 - Going home :sad1:

So after a fantastic cruise, we bid farewell to our Good ship Wonder, hop in our clown car....

oops, wrong transport option......

we catch the DCL express to LAX airport....so stress free, and then onto the LAX Hilton

a nice re-furbed room this time...

see...I'm happy.......

anyway, starving we were after not eating for at least 2 whole hours, we pop down for seconds breakfast.....

doesn't he look relaxed.......

then off on the shuttle to the beach & Macy's for some last minute retail therapy..as if my poor Visa wasn't having a heart attack already..

Swimming napping and baggage re-shuffling was our afternoon activities.
The pool @ the Hilton was great, even though it was a tad breezy...

We had burgers at the Hilton bar, best hamburger I have had in all my life...it was so good I didn't think to take a photo till it was too late...

Sadly at 6.30 pm we checked out, then checked in with V Aust as you cant check in on-line[so very very painless]...then spent the next 3 hours in the Alaska Lounge eating snacks, drinking diet coke and avoiding the cramped and angry masses at the departure gate.
The air con wasn't working at the departure lounge, there are not enough seats and the terminal is OLD!!!!
Truly, that really was the best $90 we spent:banana:

Flight back was on time, smooth and I got at least 6 hrs sleep, which for me is not normal...so good times had by all...thanks Dad for picking us up..you rock!

Summing up, the trip was pirate:awesome. :cloud9:

Some random facts::rolleyes1

Miles travelled:18742 miles
Time spent in the air: 41 hours
Time spent @ the airport:14 .5 hours
Luggage taken : 3 bags: 55kg + 2 carry-on back packs
Luggage brought back : 4 bags : 98 kg + 3 carry-on back packs + 1 pillow
Weight gained by me: 0.8kg [I know, I'm in shock as well....]
Days spent in:
LA: 3
Orlando: 8
Mexico: 3 [including 4 cruising @ sea]
Money spent: nope, not going there...the DH reads this :rotfl:

Personal highlights:
For the DH

Scuba for the first time..loved it, and is now going to get his Cert over Christmas.

And for me, I'd have to say it was just trying new things with the DH, and spending some quality time together as a couple...its great that we still are best friends even after all these years..
So to my baby boy..thanks for a great trip..love you heaps and Happy 21st Anniversary.........

:grouphug:Thanks for reading......hope you enjoyed the ride..till next year.

Wonderful report Karen! Thanks so much for sharing. Love your food photos - I gained a kilo or two just looking...!!! ;)

Oh, and Happy Anniversary! Well done - 21 years! :cool1:

What a fabulous TR! Sad it has come to an end :sad1:

Thank you for sharing your trip with us :goodvibes

And I'm really sad the funny clown car photo will no longer be popping up. I really think you need to do a random thread every now and again just with the clown car photo :lmao: Just so that we can all reminisce. :rotfl:

I really enjoyed reading your trip report, spotting the red car and drooling over all the food photos.

I think we will have to add a cruise to trip in future years.

Thanks for a great trip report Karen, I really enjoyed reading it, so very entertaining, and informative at the same time.:)

Thanks for sharing your TR Karen. I enjoyed every bite...er...word of it. :thumbsup2
